Americans screwed big time but they don't know what to do. Should they follow with a character assassination or should they try to embrace Erdogan.
If they embrace him this might still not help restore the relations and Erdogan might stay in power for A LOT more, if they try to destabilize openly he might retaliate and he has proven that he is fearless. IMO Erdogan is ready to give them A BIG lesson and if supported accordingly he might leave NATO.

Alleged 2016 military coup attempt in Turkey - Page 11 Empty Minister Mohammad bin Salman has played a bigger role than earlier thought in the recent military coup in Turkey

TEHRAN (FNA)- Saudi whistle-blower Mujtahid, who is believed to be a member of or have a well-connected source in the royal family, disclosed that Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Defense Minister Mohammad bin Salman has played a bigger role than earlier thought in the recent military coup in Turkey...
Bin Salman has taken control of MBC and al-Arabiya news channels and created a joint media operations room between al-Arabiya and the Arabic section of Skynews to pave the ground for the Turkey coup, Mujtahid wrote on his twitter page.

Turkey controls 40 of 90 us nuclear bombs on its territory

Forty American nuclear warheads have been assigned to the Turkish Air Force in the event of a nuclear conflict - those warheads are already in Turkey today.

The warheads are assigned out of 90 US primary thermonuclear bombs, based at Incirlik.

They're part of an American deployment of approximately 200 nuclear bombs, in what is called the US Enduring Stockpile - retained after the end of the Cold War between the West and the USSR in the late 1990s.

The bomb is called the B61 - it has a maximum yield of up to 340 kilotons, according to the US Department of Defense and US Department of Energy (for comparison, the bombs dropped on Japan at the end of World War II were 15 and 21 kilotons).

The latest version is called the 'bunker buster' and was once assumed to be a weapon that could be made available to Israel in an offensive against Iranian nuclear weapon manufacturing.

One of the B61 pilot's targets from Europe would be the Russian wartime bunker beneath 1,000 feet of granite at Kosvinsky Kamen in the northern Urals.

The reason for the B61 bombs in Turkey is part of a rarely-discussed NATO plan. During a past NATO heads of government meeting it was agreed that under a scheme called the NATO Nuclear Sharing Policy, 180 B61 bombs would be deployed in five countries in Europe: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Turkey.

Ninety B61 bombs were sent to Turkey and stored at Incirlik with an agreement that in time of war that moved towards "nuclear release,” 40 of the bombs would be given to the Turkish Air Force.

This single arrangement demonstrates that Turkey is a major military member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

Turkey joined NATO in 1952, just three years after the Alliance was formed on 4 April 1949. It has held a senior position at the table of equals ever since.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, President John F. Kennedy agreed to remove US Jupiter ballistic missiles from Turkey in return for Russia's climb-down from the event that took the world close to nuclear war that year.

Today, NATO commands do not doubt the importance of Turkey - it maintains the second biggest standing army (after the US) in the Alliance - around 640,000. Turkey keeps its 8,000-troop high readiness 3rd Armour Corps entirely assigned to NATO. The Alliance Land Command HQ is at Izmir, along with major NATO training centres, and some 300 Turkish officers are in NATO commands.

Turkey may be the only Muslim state in NATO and may be more Asian to some than European but the country and its leadership, however described, is in no way 'fringe NATO' - anyone who floats the idea of kicking out Turkey had better read the list of its membership credentials - starting with the B61.

Predictable. The best way to quickly end all the mess is creating a scapegoat.

and what if Turkish pilots were carrying out US instructions? as far as I remember Erdo reaction in first hours after was confusion...let´see how she siuiation develops. If gas pipe returns and situation in Syria will be agreed on Russian terms then I believe more Erdo than sceptics in this forum.

    It is predictable that now
    1) US/eu doggies will "defend democratic opposition"
    2) rating or Turkay as a country and companies down down down ("independent" US agencies)
    3) massive media war on Erdogan/Turkey

    4) doping scandal with Turkish athletes?

I dunno, seems like a stretch to me. After the shoot down it was Erdogan who jumped to ''take the credit'' although Davutoglu was just as loud.

Still whatever is the case current situation benefits Russia geopolitically and that is what matters.

I guess Russia they will settle for those two pilots for now and gradually work it's way up the chain of command as time goes by.

Oh so it is the secular Kemalists who provided strong support for Erdie ? Interesting.

Honesty I once read something like "opposition support Erdogan and against the coup" in news articles, but regretably I bypass these info.

why should Russia do it? Putin & co know how it went, truth is not needed for everyone (vide SSGN Kursk). Important thing now is to attract Turkey to SCO orbit. If Russia makes it real then that would be great geopolitical victory. In all dimensions: military ,economy and propaganda...

    The purge intensifies.

    https://www.rt.com/news/352867-erdogan-closes-schools-emergency/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Turkey’s purge of Gulen supporters continued on Saturday with the closure of hundreds of private schools, charities and other institutions suspects of links with the US-based cleric. Ankara declared a state of emergency after a failed military coup.

The decree issued by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is his first since the state of emergency was declared on Wednesday. He has ordered the closure of 1,043 private schools, 1,229 charities and foundations, 19 trade unions, 15 universities and 35 medical institutions, state news agency Anadolu reported on Saturday.

    https://www.rt.com/news/352931-turkey-gulen-aide-arrest/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Turkey's authorities have detained the "right hand" of US-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, who President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused of masterminding the failed coup attempt, a presidency official said.

Gulen's key aide Halis Hanci arrived to Turkey two days before the attempted coup, according to the official who described him as Gulen’s right-hand man.

Earlier Saturday, Muhammet Sait Gulen, Fettulah Gulen’s nephew, was arrested on the orders of the chief prosecutor of Ankara. He is the first of Gulen’s close relatives to be detained in the current crackdown, though other members of the Pennsylvania-based preacher’s family have previously been placed in custody.

Gulen's influence in Turkey probably will be severely weakened. Hopefully so do the White House.

It appear the coup was orchestrated by Kemalists. They are secular and would have ended the Syria war. Erdogan should have been deposed. Dictators are a big no no in this day and age. Erdogan is an Islamist and he is an enemy of Russia. If indeed Putin warned Erdogan then Putin made a huge mistake, yet AGAIN  Shocked  First Syria, then Ukraine, and now Turkey. If seems Putin wants Russia boiled in endless war.

If I read one more link about how Gülen and the F-16 pilot were close knit i swear i'm going OTT.

It's funny how now those pilots were Gülenists while the word out there was that the Turkish PM himself gave the order to fire.

Nevermind that the Turkish Army held a head on discussion with the Russian military about what happened and they, open quotation marks, NEVER GAVE THE EXACT VERSION OF THE INTERCEPTION. While we all know that at worst they intercepted the SU24 in Syrian airspace...this isn't a toss decision, it's a cross-approval decision, which is always POLITICAL.

Now for every retard that is happy that THE ANGLO-ZIONIST Putsch failed and that says that the Russians tossed a wrench in the mechanism to have all the Turkish state go Bananas. That the Russians did when they effectively strangled the Turkish Tourism sector, since then the Turks have had 14 attacks on their soil, including one in the fucking middle of Taksim...

The Turkish state was already hollow as fuck with a third of its territory being an active insurgency zone and three cities being active warzones. Erdogan had gutted the
state so hard, that this is simply a grand finale, the coup de grâce.

When i was telling you that the Syrians that were being accumulated in Turkey, weren't exactly being given asylum, but a task, this was to become a parallel force and protect Erdoshit. Case in point, this is maybe the best example that at least Erdoshit paid attention in history class and got himself a brand new crew of Bashi-buzuks.

Only problem is that all the info from the "inquiry" is open tweets and from nice people. Fact is the "bellingshyte" is even trying to show "compassion" for "bearded democrats" just like in Syria...

So a big part of what is in the "inquiry" (copy-pasta actually) is verified and true. They way how the military quitted shows that they had not enough people and not enough moral strength to save their country...

This is as bad as the 1991 coup. With the same exact sequels...Complete destruction of Secular Turkey and a total victory for filth.

So what if he is anti Russian?

There is no rule against that here.

No rules against being a dick either so I can't ban him for that.

Ironically there are rules against annoying or telling the mods what to do on this forum... isn't it ironic that if I wanted to I could ban quite a few people for telling me off for not doing my job of cleansing this forum of anti putinists and anti russians, yet there is no obvious rule for banning the people these members want me to ban.

I have said before, and I will say it again... I wont ban someone for not loving Russia or Putin or Jewish people... just like I wont ban people for hating america or the west in general. If you want one sided boring discussions where everyone thinks the same things then perhaps what you are looking for is your own BLOG with the comments area turned off.

This is a discussion forum where different view points are welcome by me and I consider my job to keep things civil but not command everyone keeps to a script.

Back on topic I must say I am glad Turkey and Russia are normalising relations... I think it will be better for both countries, for both cultures, and for both economies... in that order.

Any two countries can look at history and find problems and arguments... the secret is to look forward at what sort of future you want. Both countries can pick at each other and fight and bitch and moan at each other for the next thousands years... sabotaging each other and hurting each other...

    Not much of a future.

There are reasons there is a lot of Russian tourism in Turkey... why not talk about that?

BTW I don't think Resistance hates Russia, though like the western media he seems to think everything is Putins fault... but I don't care if he is a multiple account... for all we know he might even be TR-1 having a bit of fun... don't really care to be honest.

    Agreed.
But we have a rule against spamming.
The spammer has been repeating the same lines over and over again. That is spamming.
