You can see the river in the background in this video from yesterday. Artillery in direct fire mode, possibly across the river.

Here's why the SAA taking Saqr island in DeZ is so important. Not bec they can cross the river. They already have.

Follow this man. he has some really good info. Acc to him, there are no Kurds on other side of the river. Just some mercenaries Arabs gathered by US in desperate move to reach Euphrates. Also acc to him, RuAF bombed them, not Kurds. Same happened south of Raqqa in that incident that i mentioned earlier, target were Arabs in SDF that decided to go against SAA/Ru.

Turks are not exactly loved by the Greeks, Macedonians, Bulgarians, Armenians either.... Hmmm... do I sense a pattern here, Orthodox nations, screwed over by Ottomans, having historical grievances and unwilling to bury the hatchet fully with the neo-Sultans (and some like Serbia & Macedonia having to deal with current day crises because of barbarians like the fucking Albanian paleolithic orcs).
I have been in Greece and Bulgaria once, the normal locals where very nice to me, even the borderpolice.

So Red Colour is SAA and Yellow is SDF?
Thus that mean that Assad is gonna fight the Kurds?

Interesting that there is no sense of danger amongst those SAA soldiers, they are crossing the river and launching pontoons as if they were on an exercise.calm wrote:no Kurds there, just some Arabs acc to reports.
There may have been some kind of agreement between Russia and the US, what is perhaps clearer is that the SDF really don't have any artillery of their own so unless they can get one of their sub 100mm barrels close enough they just have to watch.

Would this matter?
If they were Kurds, then no reaction?
In long term, Kurds will cause much more bigger chaos in Syria/Iraq.
I dont mention Iran/Turkey because they showed their maximum performance back in the day in 2015. But their stance in Syria/Iraq is different.
As foreigners, Russia and US just want to keep things in place but as I mentioned many times, middle east does not work like that.

Crossing point is at the narrows where there is a natural crossing point with just one water flow to cross. Think that the old ferry point was the one in the video yesterday that got splatted. Fairly easy access to the small roads on both sides that fed the ferry.

The US might never learn, preferring action to words it seems, but they have been there for the best part of 90 years and Russia in Syria for over 60. Think they both might have a pretty good idea of how things work and, more importantly, how to influence things.

Byzantium is still here in the form of current nation states like Greece, Cyprus, Serbia, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria and so on. Don't confuse yourself.
Second, turkish M60s and M113s are absolutely obsolete and weaker/slower platforms in comparison to SAA's T-72AV/B, T-90A and BMP-2/BTR-80A. Moreover Syria is a theater of Toophan, (Iranian TOW), Konkurs, Metis and Kornet ATGMs. Turkish armor is simply outdated for this war. Actually non-uparmored M60s and Leopard 1s are possibly even weaker than SAA's hobo tanks like the T-62M.
I don't think this is something you didn't know already.
Here's an example of supposedly modern, mechanized force, having no idea what they're doing in the battlefield:
Sad stuff really.
flamming_python wrote:This thread has been hijacked by Serbs who bear a real grudge against the Turks, unfortunately.
Actually, staying on topic, no Syrian patriot likes the game Turkey played against their country. In fact Turkey is the main reason this war happened. Turkey facilitated the creation and supply with arms/food/fighters of FSA and IS alike. Turkey bought and buys IS and SDF oil, Turkey allowed the emergence and current supply of YPG/SDF. Turkey allows the flow of supplies and fighter to all rebel groups in Syria, incl. Kurdish ones. Turkish airports facilitate the flow of all foreign terrorists, their "wives" and families in and out of Syria. Right now, all this happens with Turkey's blessing.
Lets not forget this.

1.- Turkey supported the FSA and the Syrian National Council against Assad, thats true, because Assad smashed the very first popular uprisings in a very harsh way. The Western and Turkish media and the flew of Syrians to Turkey pushed Erdogan to make a statement and take a position.
But Turkey never supported Daesh, even the CIA briefly apoligized for this lie, or YPG/PKK. I dont know what you are drinking, but I want some of that to. Turkey used the FSA, the Turkmens and the Uighurs against Assad and YPG, and since the coup of juli 2016, Turkey stopped all support to the Syrian National Council and only supports FSA against YPG/PKK.
2.- The border between Turkey and Syria is more than 900 kilometers long. Ofcourse people will go through. The European jihadists travelled from Istanbul to Hatay with cars and busses via CIA/Mossad logistic support and the local ISIS-mercs where brought by the US with planes and ships from Libya. Now there is finally a wall between Turkey and Syria, and the second wall between Turkey and Iran is starting to be build. No more terrorists trespassing.
3.- The war against Syria was planned and scheduled since 2000, according to former US general Wesley Clark. Erdogan wasn't een in office then. Till 2010 Erdogan has very good relations with Assad and they even go to vacation together.
4.- Turkey has the most strategic geography of the world and is always in a very complex situation since WO II between US and Russia. Turkey must defend himself and can not watch how his neighbours are jumping to chaos. Libya, Iraq and Syria where Turkeys biggest export partners in the East and thanks to the US, they are all lost. Turkey is facing very big problems, and is the next target at the list of the US. Three times the NATO tried to distroy Turkey in 2 years (SU-35 incident, Coup and the killing of the Russian Ambassador) but they failed.
Putin know this, thats the reason why Erdogan apoligized to Moscow. If the US attacks Turkey (and they will, after the Syrian peace), Erdogan needs Russia.

Re: Syrian War: News #15
The US has suggested Russia to hold a meeting to discuss a future of Deir Ezzor, the Russian state-run media outlet RIA reported citing a diplomatic source.
According to the report, the American side idea is to hold a meeting this week and to discuss possible “zones of responsibility” to combat ISIS in Deir Ezzor.
In other words, Washington wants to set up a de-confliction zone in eastern Syria.
RIA’s source added that Russia has already provided own suggestions, including a map, to the US.
On September 5, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces broke the ISIS siege on the strategic city of Dier Ezzor and set a foothold for further advances in eastern Syria. The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reacted announcing own advance against ISIS north of Deir Ezzor on September 9.
On September 16, the SDF and the US-led coalition accused Russian forces of bombing the SDF north of Deir Ezzor. On September 18, the Russian Defense Ministry said that government forces have crossed the Euphrates.
It looks that the US-led coalition is loosing the race for eastern Syria. So, it now wants to negotiate some “diplomatic solution” of this situation.
