SAA with RuAF support will BBQ them with pleasure.

I think that's precisely the reason why they are giving them this little time out. To nicely coalesce into one big juicy target.

I know good BBQ when I see it. The secret is a good marinade and time.

More ISIS "spoils of war" Wink

Amid the seemingly never-ending discovery of hidden ISIS arms caches throughout newly liberated territories, the Syrian Arab Army has once again hit the jackpot, this time finding several large stockpiles of anti-tank guided missiles – enough it appears, to wipe out an entire tank battalion.

In total, 30 anti-tank missiles and seven launchers – technically enough to wipe out a battalion of tanks – were found throughout the area and transferred to the army’s arsenal.

I really do not expect to see these weapons integrated in the Syrian military arsenals. Only the part of Sovietic/Russian production can be interesting for them.

This is the kind of weapons that habitually goes to paramilitary units, surely in the south west side of the country.

Very very likely, the two pockets that the map colorers are leaving in Iraq and to the West of the Euphrates, are territory empty of ISIS. Very, very likely the map colorers are keeping them to cover the delay of the "SDF".

If this is right, the pockets will be colored later without a real fight.

Putin meets Assad very early this morning, this time in Syria. Wonder what flightpath his plane a Tu-214 took. Looks like Sergey Shoygu is with him, quite a target! Video at link

EDIT - Not sure what happened then. This post started out as per the next post!

Agreed, especially that raid at Deir AB. Also what happens when you get down and dirty, plus push maintenance and spares to and beyond their limits.

Note the low Su-24 loss rate tho'.

Both actually i assume. They fly in Europe with reflectors always from what i noticed and transponders on. Tho air control traffic radars should pick F-22s due to their wavelenght.

I would suspect the idea is to use up the captured equipment and putting it in operational units rather than reserve or dads army type units will get that done quicker.

As they fish out smaller pockets they might find more caches, but I suspect once they are used up they will revert back to weapons from normal supply sources and existing stocks.

I think the booms will be sweeter when that last hold up ISIS nuts room is destroyed from 1km away with a US made TOW missile supplied to his side to get rid of Assad that with an RPG supplied from Russia fired from across the street.

Really interesting article by Daniel Lazare. Mostly about some instances where US gov. support for terrorists in Syria was candidly described and advocated for in official or semi-official sources. Two in particular I was unaware of and are worth reading themselves; they're linked in article: A piece in FP from 2012 and a DIA report from 2015.

If true then this is one of the problems when so much land on the east of the Euphrates still seems to be in the hands of ISIS. Does anyone know if the SDF are still fighting in this area?

Not bad for mig-21 considering their age, number in use and number of sorties. L-39 must be some destroyed on the ground and I think possibly one mig-21 went same way

As commented before, the L-39 is becoming more present lately and is gaining importance for Syria in order to sustain its air campaign, without becoming attractive targets for the Surface-Surface and Surface-Air weapons of their adversaries.

Syria is not having shortage of L-39.

4 of them destroyed in IS suicide attack in Deir Ez Zor airport +2 of them destroyed with ATGM at same airport, and more of them destroyed in US cruiser attack. So overall not bad year for L39.
Also some SUs and MIGs are destroyed in that US attack if i remember.
