Eehnie can u please stop beeing lazy and quote only the last sentence? Its not much effort to do at all.

    On topic :

What happens when the SAA clashes with FSA openly supported by Turkish troops/equipment near Idlib City ? What does Russia do (if anything).

If true, this latest news looks basically like Turkey stepping up the resupply of the Islamists in Idlib? This will provide 0 stability to the region, unless Islamists are withdraw and replaced by Turkish ground troops.
Next few days should be interesting (as always in Syria).

Idlib is quite complex. There is not only TFSA there, also FSA and Qaeda. Also Undercover missions of many countries.

The term "Islamist" is very weak in defining anything. ISIS could be Islamist, Qaeda could also be, FSA could also be, Iranian militias could also be etc.

Turkish army does not involve in any kind of confrontation in Idlib. TFSA groups are somewhat linked with FSA, so it is a compelling task going on in Idlib.

PYD/PKK uses photo of own terror attack to smear Turkey

Supporters of terrorist group continue to share falsified images online amid Turkish military operation in Afrin, Syria

    Syrian War: News #16 - Page 33 Thumbs_b_c_55e00665b8c1383293c8ce5740c33bc2

Continuing their online smear campaign, supporters of the PYD/PKK terror group on Friday posted old photographs misrepresented as recent photos from Syria’s northwestern Afrin region -- including one actually showing the effects of its own terrorist attack.

In one especially blatant piece of disinformation, a photo mislabeled “Turkish Armed Forces targeting civilians” in fact shows the aftermath of a PYD/PKK terror attack on two hospitals on Jan. 19 in Aleppo’s Azaz district bordering Turkey.

    Syrian War: News #16 - Page 33 YALAN-GERCEK-2-SUBAT3

Another picture of an injured child shared on Twitter said "Save the children in Afrin," but in truth the picture was taken on Dec. 18, 2015, at a field hospital in Syria.

    Syrian War: News #16 - Page 33 YALAN-GERCEK-2-SUBAT

Another photo shared on social media implied that children are being killed in Afrin, but the picture actually was taken in November 2010 in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

    Syrian War: News #16 - Page 33 YALAN-GERCEK-2-SUBAT1

Earlier, pro-PYD/PKK accounts posted another photo -- the winner of the 2016 Anadolu Agency Istanbul Photo Awards -- misrepresenting it as a recent picture from Afrin. In fact, the photo shows a child who was injured in Aleppo, Syria two years ago.

Another photo posted on Twitter claimed to show “Turkish soldiers taken hostage in Afrin," but was actually a March 2014 Anadolu Agency photo showing 20 soldiers who had been executed by the Daesh terror group in Iraq.

This continued a pattern of pictures on pro-PYD/PKK social media accounts turning out to be photos from years ago and thousands of miles away.

The photos preceded Operation Olive Branch and are completely unrelated.

After Anadolu Agency reported on them, some of the accounts posting such fake news and images were shut down.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish army launched Operation Olive Branch to remove PYD/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin. According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey’s borders and the region as well as protect Syrians from terrorist oppression and cruelty.

The military also said only terror targets are being destroyed and the "utmost care" is being taken to avoid harming civilians.

DAMASCUS, Syria - In the above map, Eastern Mediterranean News (EMN) marked the areas which are supposedly to be under control of Syrian government and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

However, EMN explained from their twitter that the reality is that the numbered places on the map are still under ISIS control and have continued ISIS activity:

1: AbulAziz mountains in Hasakah province.
    2: Al-Bishri mountains
    3: Al-Mahasah

EMN explained that the most important area is the Bishri mountain because it is a triangle and connects the Raqqa countryside to the Deir Ezzor and Homs countryside.

The Mahasah mountains is the area where the retreated ISIS fighters from Al-Qaryatain hides and has regularl Russian airstrikes.

Map creators of Syria usually put government-controlled areas in Red, SDF/YPG in yellow, ISIS in black and other jihadists organizations in green.

A map of Syria that does not include the Golan, is not credible for me.

Even the pocket to the West of the Euphrates in the South of Deir Ez Zor seems to be a fake pocket.

The function of that map was not to show an up to date position or the legal boundaries of Syria, it was to indicate the areas that ISIS is still believed to be in.

In order to overcome the sensitivities of a couple of posters, as per above, here I have searched the Internet for a map that doesn't only cut off a certain disputed part of Syria, this one shows ISIS locations but chops off the whole of the west of the country, including some of the areas of current fighting for good measure as well.  Laughing  russia

This map an ominous reminder than ISIS still exists in eastern Syria. Russian analysts say they have 15,000 fighters. The two forces that were combating them (SDF and regime) are now focused on other priorities (Turkey and Idlib). Watch this space.
