Shocked Wow space based Electronic Warfare (not to be confused with Early Warning) systems are in development and should be ready in 2 years:

Complex "Krasuha C4" is composed of two machines with special equipment. It is designed to deal with all the modern radars, which are used for different types of aircraft, including unmanned aircraft. In addition, the possibility of the complex can put noise in a wide frequency range without limitation in azimuth and elevation.
The complex uses new digital equipment with high performance.

Could it interfere with friendly frequencies ? i mean if we use it while our aircraft overthere (or hardware that is ours) , will Krasuha jam it?

Yes, there will always be accidental interference to friendly frequency. Thus the aircraft within the vicinity of the operating jammer must keep touch with their respective command so they know when to switch frequency or taking other measure (Get out of the coverage etc)

Provide some hint on what we talk about when debating on the level of performances offered by the most advanced domestic EW models and in particular products such as "Красуха-2/4".

Theirs effect on the outcomes on ISR-intensive wars fought mostly with precision weapons and relying on "situational awareness" and lines of command and weapon guidance methods strongly dependent on electronic component is simply fearful.

In this particular segment the fusion of the knowledge's pool of several Institutes has even widen our scientifical primacy in the field and the first results ,in hard metal, are under anyone's eyes.

With such EW systems you can only fight some third world country   Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

Competent nations like the UK and US can very easily operate in a radar/comm denied environment.

With the emergence of Multi-Domain Adaptable Processing System(MAPS) frankly the opponents EW systems makes no difference to US and UK military.

Lockheed has already introduced Legion Pod – a multi-function sensor system that supports collaborative targeting operations between multiple aircraft in radar-denied environments.

Now how exactly will you jam MAPS when you can't even locate it scratch scratch

With the emergence of MAPS US 5th and 4th gen aircrafts can (finally cheers ) communicate with each other. And Legion pod is basicaly networked sensor station with FLIR (which F-22 does not have btw clown ), like you know your wifi printer if you have one. Interesting video.

    ....

There's some more info from RIA Novosti on KRET deliveries to the MOD

KRET Rostec in full and on time fulfill the state defense order in 2014. For the Ministry of Defense of Russia were delivered the latest tools and systems for electronic warfare (EW) in the amount of 17.1 billion rubles, the state recognition for the amount of 7.2 billion rubles, on-board electronic equipment (avionics) to 35 billion, instrumentation 1.1 billion, "- said Nasenkov.

Among developed KRET systems that were set Ministry of Defense - helicopter-EW "Lever-AB", aviation systems of individual protection of the family "Vitebsk", small-sized mobile radar "Harmony", a multifunctional complex "Khibiny" complexes EW "Krasuha."

"Over the past three years, the Defense Ministry enterprises Group delivered nine new types of complex radar surveillance, protection and suppression, last year KRET completed more than 180 R & D within the SDO," - said Nasenkov.

Post  Walther von Oldenburg Sun Mar 08, 2015 1:20 pm

I know a bit about classical AD systems but almost nothing about passive AD and I know Russia has a lot of these. I know that during Kosovo war Serbs used old radars from MIG-21s to fool US missiles & bombs with some good results.

What does Russia produce? I know they have some good camouflage kits that significantly reduce target's IR visibility.

edit - just put as much info as you can get, I want to know every system that Russia produces.

Here is an article on East German camouflage experts that used to make decoys for Soviet usage, and still used today to make .

If you type in "russian-made decoys" into Google then you will find good pictures that will give an idea on Soviet/Russian camouflage tactics..

You will truly realize how effective these can be, even the most powerful air forces in the world could not stand up to an enemy that has significant skills and technology to conceal it's ground movements.

Russian Army to Receive 20 New EWF Systems

About 20 types of advanced electronic warfare (EWF) equipment will be supplied to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as part of the state defence order in 2015. It is expected to complete developing and start purchasing at least 10 products in the near future. This information was presented by the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry.

The new EWF systems will comprise jamming, radar and navigation equipment, facilities for protection from high-precision weapons, and control devices. The most important facilities include Krasukha-2O, Murmansk-BN, Borisoglebsk-2, Krasukha-S4 and Svet-KU. In addition, the manufacturer has successfully completed state tests of the Lorandit-M radio control and jamming complex that meets all modern requirements for mobility and reliability.

It should be noted that EWF systems are one of the most knowledge-intensive types of military equipment incorporating innovative solutions and technologies.

'Murmansk-BN' Long Range Jammer  - 5000 km range

From what I gather, it was first tested during the Zapad 2013 exercise and has started entering service in late 2014.

Within the framework of a sudden inspection readiness of Russian Armed Forces units of electronic warfare (EW) of the Northern Fleet (NF), the first to use the newest complex "Murmansk-BN", said the head of the center of electronic warfare NF captain second rank Dmitry Popov.

" Murmansk-BN "is capable of disorganizing command & control of potential enemy. He works at a distance of more than 5 000 km "- quoted statement Popov RIA" Novosti ".

According to him, these complexes are the basis of categories of naval electronic warfare. "Murmansk-BN" came to NF in December 2014 and has already been successfully mastered by the personnel. The complex is radio reconnaissance, interception of enemy signals and their suppression. It works around the shortwave bands.

"Today, our task - to prevent the transfer of data from the reconnaissance aircraft for its imaginary enemy aircraft. Task carried out in real-time, fully completed ", - concluded Popov.

Looks like it's also entered service with the Baltic and Black Sea Fleets EW units

+1, that 'Murmansk-BN' sounds like a monstrosity of a system! At 5,000 km range were not talking about an ordinary system, were talking about a 'strategic-level' system, that could radically change the outcome of a battlefield because of it's power and range...I mean if it's capable of spoofing and frying electronics at a massive standoff range of 5000 km, could you imagine how powerful it would be at 2,500 km, 1,000 km, 500 km, or 250 km range? Combined with the fact that the systems are heavily situated in Kaliningrad and in Crimea, NATO will be in a world of hurt if they decide to get 'uppity'. Garry whats your view on the strategic importance of this new system?

With that sort of range it is quite astounding... I suspect it interferes with signals and creates false decoys at that range rather than pure jams them....

Yeah, it's a monster....in the video I posted, they were jamming a radar in the the Kola peninsula from Kursk, a distance of over 2500 km

Considering the size and construction of Murmansk-BN complex, I would say this one is capable to jam OTH radars.
