This part is incorrect. Iran did not support Saddam Hussein, but Iraq was never alone against the US, even if you're talking about the period right after 2003 US invasion. While situation in Iraq is complicated, Iran was fully backing it the whole time and today it enjoyes greater influence in Iraq than ever. US after invasion basically disbanded Iraqi military and the casualties Americans and their Al-Qaeda stooges received were mostly (if not all) from Iranian backed Iraqi shiite forces, those under command of Ayatollah Al-Sistani and alike. Today's Iraqi popular mobilisation forces are influenced by the same figure(s) and backed by Iran, just like Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba and Kata'ib Hezbollah (Iraqi Hezbollah).
As for Lebanese or the "original" Hezbollah proving itself - they have already done so on many occasions both in Lebanon and Syria - Al-Qusair, Jabroud, Al-Zabadani in Syria and Arsal in Lebanon were liberated almost exclusively thanks to them which meant life or death for Syria at that point. On top of that Hezbollah proved itself all over Syria including North-West Syria/Aleppo/Palmyra/South-East Syria + Southern Lebanon/Beqqa valley in Lebanon.
Being a militia force and not a real army, Hezbollah still displayed a high level of military prowess in each and every battle they took part in, something that most today's armies are not capable of. Other than that, what do you think is holding Lebanon safe from Israel, a couple of Lebanese soldiers in M113 AFVs that are getting kidnapped by AlQaeda and ISIS? Without Hezbollah Lebanon would be another Jordan today - completely dominated (if not directly militarily conquered) by Israel. Israel war against
Lebanon Hezbollah alone in 2006 ended up in Israel getting their butts kicked like never before, forcing them to retreat and not look back, not at least until they take down Syria and break apart the Iran/Iraq/Syria/Lebanon/Hezbollah axis of resistance.
Another argument is Ansarallah aka the Houthis in Yemen that have taken over nearly whole of Yemen at one point and are still holding ground and leading very successful attrition war against everything and everyone.
The Houthies in Yemen are fighting:
-Saudi soldiers
-UAE soldiers
-French Special Forces
-US, UK, Israeli jets & Special Forces (denied but there)
-Sudanese mercenaries
-S Yemen separatists
-Hadi followers
-Republican Guards (Saleh followers)
Btw groups of Ansarallah fighters were sent to Syria and participated in battles along SAA, mostly to expand their battlefield experience.
Albeit not so well trained and armed, Ansarallah is Yemen's version of Hezbollah.
This was
all made possible by Iran (IRGC) of course.
So in conclusion, Hezbollah (Iran) doesn't have to prove anything to anyone.
