It is clearly BTR based, and also has an AESA array and top mounted optics sensors... however if you look to the rear of the vehicle it has a ramp launcher for a UAV, which suggests it is some sort of recon vehicle, which might include radar and optics observation and also remote monitoring using a drone.
BTW nice vid Zg18... If you go down to the woods today you really are sure of a big surprise... my vote.

Rogozin: amount of new state armaments program is comparable to the current
MOSCOW, Sept. 11 - RIA Novosti. Scope of state financing of new armament program of the Russian Federation on the 2016-2025 years will be comparable to the funding of the current program, said on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
The volume of the current state program to 2020 is 20 trillion rubles.
"They (volumes) are comparable," - Rogozin said on Thursday on the TV channel "Russia 24".

Things wont get cheaper, but hopefully performance per rouble should dramatically increase.
It will be interesting to see what a modern 21st century Army designed and used for defence will actually look like... the world has never seen that before.

Lol, the (current) world has never seen a "modern next century", and it will never if you get what I mean.

In the Russian army will reduce the number of types of weapons and military equipment

KRASNOARMEYSK / Moscow region /, 17 September. / ITAR-TASS /. Russia's Defense Ministry will reduce the number of types of weapons and military equipment, which is used by the Russian army.
Such changes are planned in the new state armaments program for 2016-2025 years, told Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov.
"The main directions will be in a fairly sharp decrease in facial features of weapons and military equipment. We optimize type. Series (weapons and equipment) is already defined," - said Borisov.
According to him, the state program will identify specific targets and a half years based on the capabilities of industry and science. The deputy head of the Ministry of Defense said that the military wants to "guide the industry on the issue of unification of different solutions." "This is a bus-modular design with maximum harmonization and reduction of the range of products used," - said the deputy minister.
Reducing the number of types of weapons and military equipment should reduce the cost of its repair and maintenance, as well as reduce the cost of training the military.
The state defense order will not be sequestered
Borisov also noted that the state defense order for the years 2015-2017 will not be subject to sequestration. "No seizures, severe decrease in the volume is not. Draft budget provides almost passport details," - he said.
At the same time, the deputy minister said, it does not mean that the Defense Ministry does not redistribute volumes within the program itself.
"So far, thank God, the supreme commander of the efforts of our government and the three-year plan for 2015-2017 years is a very close approximation to the passport data state armaments program 2020, which is the key dynamic re our troops on the modern and advanced weapons and military equipment," - Borisov said.
He also noted that the program of import substitution is not fundamentally affected the state program of armaments and defense procurement.

The Israeli army is pretty much built for defense.
For all their international law abuses; their entire mobilization system, armoured forces, etc... are all designed for point-defense or occupation of small amounts of territory; they would be extremely hard-pressed to actually launch an offensive well into enemy territory past a small distance from Israel.

Its going to be interesting at next Victory Parade
Victory Parade in 2015 will take place about 100 samples of the latest technology
He recalled that on 9 May 2015 at the Victory Parade for the first time will show the main tank "Armata", but not only him. "We will show a whole range of equipment, brand new tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, self-propelled guns, automotive special equipment," - he said on the radio "Echo of Moscow"

Re: Russian Ground Forces: News #2
I'm pretty sure that they will not allow to take photos of them from specific angles like always and let's see how the model with the GSh-23-6 turns out. I'm really looking forward to that model and the IFV's based on Armata. If Armata turns out to be as they say, then russian new tanks, ifvs, apcs would catapulte again all at the same time on place nr1 of their catagory.

This video of Бастион-П ,shooting from this concealed fire position, is very likely related to the purpose of testing, in a full scale live exercise involving all kind of enemy high-end air and space based ISR platforms ,the the new radar absorbign composites that has claimed capability to reduce reradiated energy (ostensibly in the X and S band) of 15-20 times.
http://vpk.name/news/118128_radiolokacionnaya_zametnost_puskovyih_ustanovok_beregovogo_kompleksa_bastion_snizhena_v_1520_raz_zayavlyaet_razrabotchik.html
Similar concealed high-clutter fire positions ,in facts, not only render airborne and satellite IR/optical detection dramatically difficult to execute (in particualr if paired with the use of purposely designed decoy launchers and command posts) except at very close range ,but also reduce furtherly the range of detection of SAR type radars -representing at today the unique long range tracking mean for airborne vehicles of ground vehicles-.
The effect of the claimed reradiated radar energy's absorbtion performance of the new composites would force also aircraft equiped with future improved SAR equipment to come within engagement range of even medium range air defense systems in order to get a chance to detect the position of the mobile launchers.
The benefits of the employment of similar composites in the construction of others important missile launchers appear obious.

Interesting Interview ..with Dmitri Rogozin about Russia army up to 2020.
The most interesting part is that they plan to fully modernize the nuclear forces by 100% by 2020.
and also Rogozin hint about weapons Russia have ,that cannot talk but that will surprise their enemies.
Can't wait to know about what it is he is talking about sounds like an interesting weapon. ..

Russia’s Ground Forces to get 5,000 pieces of new armored vehicles by 2020
MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Russia’s Ground Forces are due to receive 5,000 pieces of new armored vehicles and 6,000 pieces of modernized weaponry by 2020, Colonel General Oleg Salyukov said on Wednesday.
“In total, up to 2020 it is planned to buy over 5,000 new and around 6,000 modernized samples of armored vehicles and military hardware, and around 14,000 pieces of modern samples of vehicles,” said Salyukov, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Ground Forces.
The government is planning to buy modernized T-72B3 tanks, which were seen at Russia's tank biathlon world championship outside Moscow in early August and during the last month’s Vostok-2014 military drills in Russia's Far East.
Other weapons purchases for the army include BMP-3 amphibious infantry fighting vehicles, modernized BMP-2 and BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Salyukov said.
Under the country’s unprecedented army re-equipment program, the share of advanced weaponry in the Russian army, currently estimated at 16%, is set to reach 70% by 2020.
Analysts of the international HIS company said in February that Russia’s defense spending is expected to increase by over 44% in real terms over the next three years, to $98 billion in 2016. This plan has propelled Russia to the world's third-largest military spender after the United States and China.

BMP-3 procurement restarting? I wonder why.
MOSCOW, October 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Defense Ministry plans to purchase more than 11,000 of new armored vehicles, as well as 14,000 military vehicles for other purposes, providing the ground forces with 70 percent of modern equipment, Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces, Col.Gen. Oleg Salyukov told journalists Wednesday.
"In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, by 2020 the ground forces will be 70 percent equipped with new modern weaponry and military hardware. In total, more than 5,000 new and some 6,000 modernized units of armored vehicles and military hardware, as well as 14,000 military vehicles, are to be purchased," Salyukov said.
According to him, the Russian Land Forces will receive T-72B3 tanks, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, and modernized BMP-2 vehicles.
The commander-in-chief said that the Russian Defense Ministry had begun to purchase BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles again.
"The BMP-3 are purchased again, and starting next year they will be delivered in sets to ground forces units," he said.
In 2010, BMP-3 vehicles were criticized by the ministry and their delivery was suspended over inferior quality.

Yep, you are missing something here. There were no conscription from Chechnia for a long time
I doubt they will be allowed to choose where they serve
Nobody is allowed that actually.
Most likely far away from Chechnya
After abolishing exterritorial principle of conscript service, rare conscripts is sent far away. They will serve in Southern Military district

They stopped buying BMP-3, they did not stop buying BMP-3M.
