How can you have a modern military with dynosours like those??
What dynosaurous do you find in T-72B3 or BTR-82A?
Can somebody explain why the hell are they wasting money on t-72 upgrades?
Because it will take years to rearm all units with new-gen platforms plus to create reserve needed. And the modern army is needed now. Plus T-72B3 is much cheaper than T-90 with little to no real combat effectiveness margin, espessially if you'll take into the account number of money needed to waste to recycle good T-72s from reserve storages.
And the prise of BTR-90 will be astronomical because there is no production powers needed to produce BTR-90s in serie. It's better to create new production lines for Bumerang, using old-proven lines for BTR-82A until then. Combat effectiveness of BTR-82A and BTR-90 still dosen't really differ that much.
they did not stop buying BMP-3M.
And rumored BMP-3F (for Naval Infantry)

That would imply that they've started, but I've never seen a BMP-3M (whether Kurganmashzavod's offering or KBP Tula's Bakhacha-U intergrated on the BMP-3 chassis) in Russian service.

Re: Russian Ground Forces: News #2
T-72 upgrades are effective, cheap, and reliable. - They should last decade(s)! BTR-82 is the same thing... Cheap, efficient, effective, reliable etc. Plus, they are only a couple years away from the Armata, which should revolutionize their armed forces.Djoka wrote:Can somebody explain why the hell are they wasting money on t-72 upgrades????Or btr-82??They want a modern military right? How can you have a modern military with dynosours like those??Why not buy t-90 and upgrade those,or btr-90????
The T-90 is an upgraded T-72, see the irony? - The B3 should be just as capable, if a little inferior. At the same time they are cheaper. BTR-90 had many problems, or so I've heard.

Re: Russian Ground Forces: News #2
The BTR-90 cost almost as much as a BMP-2 but did not have the same armour and mobility levels.
The BTR-90 would be a direct competitor to Boomerang except with inferior troop exit and also inferior armour and communications and electronics.
The BTR-82 on the other hand is a cheap light functional vehicle with updated comms and improved vision and weapon system.
Think of these purchases as a stopgap till the real replacement is ready.
They could spend a fortune on the stopgap... BTR-90, T-90AM, but that would leave less money for the new vehicles.
The key is that the new vehicles have optics that allow fighting and training at night and in bad weather, and that they have modern comms and data link capability and BMS to allow modern training.
I would expect some were bought for testing.

Sad news guys. I just found out that BitnikGR's youtube channel was deleted for 3rd party violations. 'Twas a cornucopia of Russian military video translated in to English.

Yes, have to wait till he has a new channel or sorts out what this is about.
Anna News despite having all rights for all their own videos was deleted already 2 times because they are alternative news agency especially on Syria and Ukraine and have direct footage of battlefield and the narrative of our western MSM always claimed Assad kills own citizens while Anna News have shown several times on videos how tank columns escort school buses and evacuate parts of cities with fire support against terrorists.

Freedom of expression, western style.
I would like to see the clowns who run Youtube provide a single piece of evidence that some copyright holder complained against Bitnik.
But they won't since we live in an era of secret evidence and only lip-service "rights" of the individual.

Victory Parade 2015 will be cool, however it will pale in comparison to RAE 2015. Here's RAE 2013, pretty damn entertaining event:

Why? Sure, we will get to see them perform, but they will be revealed at VD. Either event is great, more so with the new equipment and vehicles...

That is the sound of the unified chassis argument going farther and farther down the drain.

As far as Russia could cut military spending in the next 10-15 years?
Accounting for sacred cows

Re: Russian Ground Forces: News #2
there will be plenty of units that don't have unified vehicles for quite some time.
Until there are enough for everyone then upgraded vehicles that are available and in service in numbers for which there are spare parts and lots of trained people able to work on them makes economic sense.
