Syrian War: News #20 - Page 32 Empty Re: Syrian War: News #20

Can anyone explain to me how Syria being ruled by a tyrannical and selfish minority of around 15% is supposed to be somehow "democratic" and a "beneficial" thing?

How many western leaders could be described as not tyrannical?

How many unnecessary wars did western leaders in Europe alone drag their countries in that had nothing to do with them and only did so on the say of Washington or London or Brussels and against the interests and wishes of their own populations.

Assad might be a dick, but he was the legitimately elected leader of Syria... if the Syrian people want to remove him there is something called elections which is a mechanism to change leadership. Having a thousand different groups of head choppers and murderers shoot people and try to remove him by force is actually the opposite of democratic.. and the selfish minority rule most countries... they get called all sorts of things like globalists, the one percent... the rich and powerful, the oligarchs... they are the same people every time and always command more power within a country than anyone using a vote.

The alternative to Assad is a thousand little mobs with no experience in running a country... the alternatives were Assad or a Libya/Afghanistan type situation of anarchy and chaos where life is cheap and short and bullys and psychos rule... Syria has had ISIS rule for a while and is rejecting it as shown by the rate at which the Government forces and progressing forward and the head choppers and the US who supports those terrorists are squealling like pigs.

The amusing thing is that you can take your statement above and replace Syria with most countries in central and south america and it still works because most of those countries are run by rich whiter people than the damn natives who are oppressed and enslaved in their own countries but the US supports those governments because they know who to suck up to and when.

Assads crime is not sucking up to the right people in the west... he was actually turning west when they turned on him and Gaddafi and Saddam...

Another western propaganda BS. Most posts in the government/military are held by Sunnis, not Alawites.

Syrian chopper pilots are being told to stay away from rebel-held areas, the Manpads have expected have neutralized them.

SAA is making some gains on the ground but this is in areas the Turks aren't present.

Do you think that the maps put up here reflect what is happening on the ground?

The US has repeatedly announced its military withdrawal from Syria, however, American troops are still present there. US President Donald Trump announced the fall of the Islamic State's five-year "caliphate" in March 2019, and added that the US would "remain vigilant until [IS] is finally defeated".

A convoy of US military vehicles has arrived from Iraq to Al-Hasakah province in northeastern Syria, Sham FM broadcaster reported.

According to its post on Facebook, at least 55 vehicles, including tanks and engineer equipment, entered the province from Iraq.

The US-led coalition has been fighting against the Daesh* terrorist organisation in Syria and Iraq since 2014. In Syria, the presence of the coalition has not been authorised either by the country's government or by the UN Security Council's mandate. Last year, Washington announced the fall of the so-called "Islamic State caliphate" but added that it would stay in Syria to prevent the resurgence of the terrorist network. To justify his army's prolonged stay in Syria, US President Donald Trump said that there was the need to "keep the oil" and prevent it from being taken by the remaining terrorists.

Earlier this month, US forces stationed in Syria reportedly started the construction of a new military base in the oil-rich Al-Hasakah province. According to the Turkish Anadolu news agency, which cited its sources, the equipment and materials for the construction arrived from Iraq via the al-Waleed border crossing. The agency suggested that the base was built not to let Russian forces, lawfully deployed in Syria, reach the Rmelan oil field.

The Turkish army is conducting heavy arty fire on Manbji frontline, this would be a pretense for them re-opening that front.

Syrian Army apparently giving fire support and with the US trying to suck up to Turkey, the Kurds will find themselves needing a friend.

SAA now controls 100% of Aleppo and Russian Military called Erdogan's bluff and are deploying along M5

Like I said before, those helicopter shootdowns are lame distraction for jihadists from dire situation on the ground

As long as SAA keeps moving forward it's all just usual military casualties

Wow its looks as if the SAA have achieved another objective. A huge chunk of the area to the west and north west of Aleppo is now in their hands. Total collapse. Much celebration in the local population to have got rid of the plague of terrorists. No more artillery threat to Aleppo for the first time since 2012.

Will they stop now or just keep going? Or reposition south to retake M4?

This is a poster on MoA

Rebels in the northern part of western Aleppo were left with two tertiary roads through steep hills, roads that became one way: moving in the direction that is against wishes of the local Lords of the Sky can be easily stopped with an occasional bomb+crater. Following some negotiation and official command from Erdo-an, they have shown remarkable resolve, organization and discipline -- swift retreat of thousands through a narrow road from multiple towns is not easy. Perhaps instructions for Plan Omega (Plan Z?) were carefully prepared long ago. The start was observed one (few?) hours ago, the retreat is ongoing. One of the two tertiary roads is already in hands of SAA, but it was basically under "fire control" already, SAA took a major hill on that road, plus some other "points".

It is still a question where the lines of control will stabilize. My theory is that SAA will whittle rebel positions to get stable line of control, getting some hill tops, assuring that M5 is a sufficient safety corridor. Rebels had markedly lower morale than in 2018, a season of spectacular defeats will probably lead to a further decline. The works of peace should have priority for a while.

Concerning that, I noted some disturbing patterns. Combination of sanctions of EU and USA is truly inhumane, lists all materials necessary for the reconstruction, fuels, material to restore fuel infrastructure etc. Russian and Chinese companies may face a lot of sanctions (really, piracy) if they make supplies, and there are tragic shortages in Syria. To win peace, the Eurasian powers must get their act together. For sure, there are ways, as shown with Crimea that is affected by an equally vicious web of sanctions, but Russia goes around them quite effectively. I read that the same web of companies that are not vulnerable to sanctions can be used for trading with Syria, but the reports from Syria are mixed. Perhaps it is not easy to provide supplies for war and for peace in the same time. What we have seen this winter requires huge logistic effort. I hope that Russia, Iran and even China will get their act together.

The future is still shaky, an economical web of Eurasian independence, with results to show, has many elements in place but it still has to show its capacity to "project economic force".

It is in Syria's interests to return as much territory under its control as it can to prevent the Turks from consolidating their Cyprus-like
occupation and turning it into an annexation.

Note how there is not a squeak from NATzO about Turkey annexing northern Syria. There are no Turks living in northern Syria even
if Turkey pretends Kurds are ethnic Turks.
