As expected, the president has already received some traditional birthday greetings from foreign leaders. The presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Belarus have sent their best wishes. Putin was also congratulated by Narendra Modi, who offered a more up-to-date form of greeting, wishing Putin "long life, good health & happiness" in a tweet. The prime minister's tweet has already received 1,000 retweets.
Narendra Modi
@narendramodi
Greetings on your birthday, President Putin. I pray for your long life, good health & happiness. @KremlinRussia_E
"Naturally, the president also received greetings from Russian political figures, from parliamentarians to governors and republican leaders. Probably the warmest message of greeting came from Chechen Republic leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who congratulated the president on Instagram. Kadyrov's message of congratulations praised Putin as "the most popular, courageous, strong, wise, and strong-willed politician in the world," wishing him "good health, good luck and success" in his "very difficult and responsible work!"
I would like to ask Italian members of this forum (I know there are at least two) why Italians seem to be so fond of Putin. You could think it's because Latins admire his "macho" style, but then he is not very popular in Spain or most of Latin America.Dima wrote:Italian Putin fan's FB

The governments, yes. I am talking about the population. I am Brazilian and live in Buenos Aires, and I know very few people who admire Putin in both countries. Leftist people don't like Putin because he isn't leftist, while conservative ones don't like him because he is a "communist and wants to rebuild the Soviet Union". Also, conservatives in Latin America are (still) largely pro-US and EU.magnumcromagnon wrote:Svyatoslavich wrote:I would like to ask Italian members of this forum (I know there are at least two) why Italians seem to be so fond of Putin. Are you talking about the same Latin America that I'm talking about? The overwhelming majority of Latin America (South and Central American) countries refused to condemn Russia for the accession of Crimea...that alone says volumes!

Damn, when did Putin get an Akita? I've always wanted that breed even though they're a real challenge to work with.
If aliens came to Earth, landed in the US and asked "take me to your leader", they surely wouldn't be taken to Obama. This would happen in most Western countries. But not in Russia: it is undeniable that this country is realy run by its president.Karl Haushofer wrote:One thing I wonder about Putin is that how essential he really is for Russia? Is he just a front figure or is he and his output as a president essential for Russia and it's well being and success?
When Putin eventually retires how easy it is to replace him?
A significant role in the fact that the President's rating has jumped in Russia has been played by the videoconferencing RF operation in Syria, aimed at the destruction of the terrorists of the Islamic state. The survey was conducted in 46 regions and republics of Russia.
