People say that the 3 Karakurts towed to Pella shipyard for completion have not seen any progress.

Yet, this picture reveals that one of them received a radar radome (after receiving its 76mm gun earlier).

Russian Navy to Receive Three Karakurt-Class Small Missile Ships in 2023

The Russian Navy plans to receive three small missile ships of project 22800 Karakurt in 2023 that are able to conduct high precision missile strikes, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Monday.

These ships are able to conduct high precision missile strikes against critical objects on land and enemy ships in sea in the near sea zone.

"In July, the Black Sea fleet received serial ship Cyclone. Three ships are expected to be commissioned to the navy by the end of this year. Two more will be commissioned in 2024," Shoigu reported.

I assume the other 2 to be received this year are Askold and Burya , which should be commissioned august-november.

Tsiklon was received earlier this month, that would make it 3, unless he means 3 in addition to Tsiklon Shocked  Shocked  Shocked don't see it as there are no other ships already doing sea trials and it takes a year to trial these ships

And then by next year I guess Shoigu is saying 2 more will undergo sea trials and acceptance

Good to see these ships pick up pace

Black Sea and Baltic would get their fleets filled out with these

Future Baltic Fleet's Project 22800 Karakurt-class corvette Kaluga (578), (ex. Burya), spotted today in St. Petersburg, heading to Kronstadt to continue the sea trials.
Renaming from Burya to Kaluga was announced in February and is supposed to take place this year.
Together with Kaluga, another Baltic Fleet's Project 21631 Buyan-M-class corvette Grad (575) will be renamed to Tarusa

"Kaluga" is also the name of a Kilo class submarine of North Fleet, so this means that this submarine probably have been decomissioned

Two small missile ships of Project 22800 ("Karakurt") - "Udomlya" and "Rzhev" - have been launched at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant.

The Amur Shipyard has launched the first pair of "Karakurt" - small missile ships "Udomlya" and "Rzhev".

They are being built according to Project 22800 developed by Almaz Central Design Bureau, chief designer is Dmitry Tsymlyakov.

The arsenal of the "Karakurt" includes 8 vertical launch units for Kalibr and Oniks missiles, and in the future - for hypersonic Zircon missiles.

Project 22800 MSCs are being built as the most mass-produced series of all surface combat missile ships in the modern history of our Navy.

    Glory to Russian shipbuilders!

So this is interesting, from about 1 minute 35 second on is the section on the Karakurt and the next section is about its propulsion system...

The video includes mention of an upgraded Karakurt ship that can carry the new reduced size Zircon hypersonic missile...

This is the 22800, Askold, which was in Kerch shipyard before being hit by Storm Shadow

I think the damage itself doesn't matter, if there was an engine on board, just put it into another hull, after all many of these were just waiting around for engines so the loss of a hull is not a big deal

That is if there was an engine in the first place

If Askold didn't even have one, then it's not even a problem in the first place

I understand why people are upset but damn I dont think people realize that Ukraine is working in concert with the west and the best intelligence and intel systems they got. On top of this you have sophisticated decoys with top tier cruise missiles and tactical rockets in these attacks which come at the most opportune times.

And on top of this you have retarded Russians that have no clue that this conflict is totally justified in Russia's favor but instead buy into western propaganda and sell their countrymen out in leaking the images.

    I doubt it

You would have evidence of some kind

The last ship that was of a modern design that got hit was project 22160 Sergey Kotov

That one got swarmed by drones under the Crimea bridge as it was crossing the Kerch strait

But Tsiklon I never saw anything more then claims from Ukrainian sources

Small missile ships that enter service with the Navy will receive additional protection for the engine room from naval drones, Renat Mistakhov, general director of the Ak Bars shipbuilding corporation, told RIA Novosti.

"Ak Bars" builds small missile ships of projects 22800 "Karakurt" (pictured), 21631 and others for the Navy.

“We must provide protection for the engine room, this is the bottleneck on all ships. This is the heart of the ship... And we will add additional protection.”- RIA reports

A model of a new corvette based on the Project 22800 Karakurt small missile ship was presented at the Army-2024 International Military-Technical Forum. By changing the composition of the propulsion system on the ship, volumes were freed up, which were used for the placement of anti-submarine weapons. It also houses a hydroacoustic complex with underfloor and towed antennas and a small-sized anti-submarine complex "Packet-NK".

The rest of the weapons remained the same. It includes a 76.2 mm AK-176MA cannon, eight launchers for cruise missiles and the Pantsir-ME anti-aircraft missile and artillery system. The ship also has a seat for placing a container with different types of filling.

At the same time, a change in the composition of the propulsion system reduced the full speed of the ship from 32 knots to 26. Nevertheless, the result was an extremely interesting representative of the Navy, which can replace the aging small anti-submarine ships of projects 1124M and 1331.

Such a corvette can solve a wide range of tasks in the coastal zone, in particular, ensure the deployment of nuclear submarines and large warships in the waters of the Barents and Bering Seas.

They need to change it to use something other than those Zvezda radial engines. I mean this thing uses six of those things that the Zvezda company cannot manufacture in numbers. Three propulsion shafts with two engines each.

Now that the Kolomna D500 diesel engine and the Saturn M70FRU2 gas turbine are available they better use them.

Yeah 26 knots max speed is a bit slow especially if you incorporate anti sub capabilities. Am I wrong here? I am super excited about paket being introduced though with towed and hull sonars. With 8 vertical launch stations and naval pantsir with serious short to low-medium range capabilities this ship is truly multirole. With such low tonnage this is nuts.

I've been calling it "padding the coastline"

If you can build lots of these small ones on the cheap with off the shelf parts for local work you will free up bigger ones for jobs further out

Same reasoning with finishing two unused Tarantul hulls as Project 12418, better to use them than to throw them away

Speed is useful, but I suspect PAKET and likely Medvedka will be fitted and used and these boats will also operate with Frigates and corvettes with UKSK launchers, which means mach 2 rocket propelled Ovtet ballistic rockets delivering homing torpedoes to the area the target sub is located in means it does not need to chase down subs.

Running at 32 knots it wont see many subs at all, and the ballistic rocket delivered torpedo is going to outrun any sub.

Medvedka is a mini Ovtet for smaller vessels... it has a ballistic flight range of about 20km I seem to remember...
