About my only gripe is some miscasting - the current actor is just not Paul Atreides material, sorry, much prefer the other dude from the earlier film. Don't even mention the massive downgrade that is Chani. Han Solo did great I guess, and Paul's mother was good - though too emotional. Harkonnen is meme material, no doubt about.

Watched it as well yesterday, pretty damn good
I loved how they managed to get the vehicles and suits just right
Everything was awesome, they really put effort into details (Sardukar throat singing, fuuck yeah!!!)
Wasn't a fan of whatever that spider thing was but that's just my arachnophobia speaking
Also, Baron's medic is hot!!!

Re: Movie Recommendation Thread
I watched the movie Dune.
i really like the universe.
I played Dune 2 when i was a kid on my uncles computer.
Also Emperor:battle for Dune on the PC.
They went deeper into the lore there.
Personally i was always an Fan of the Sardaukar.
Heavily armoured infantry advancing shrugging off small-arms and unleasing their large automatic weapons at range.
Even i liked the elite Sardaukar, sporting an energy knife and an wrist-mounted laser cannon.
The dynamic between the factions as well, Harkonnen,Atreiders, Ordos, and the subfactions like the Guild of Navigators, tlailaxu.
I watched most of the movie that came out.
I know tastes differ in movies, and i respect everyone's take on it.
but Personally, i found it underwhelming.
I really liked the scene where they have to evacuate the Harvester as the Carry-all fails to latch on.
Also the Ornithopters looked amazing and their design was great. Loved the Dragonfly operation they showed and the rear-loading ramp.
For me personally tough, the fighting was underwhelming.
Where is the brutality of Harkonnen industry and firepower,
Or the refinement of Atreiders technology and precision,
and etcetera etcetera.
I dont want to spoil the fun for others, each has their own tastes.
But i remember the first time i was introduced to Dune when i was young .

I watched it, loads of rage and even more gunfire
That's how you do an action movie
Speaking of Guy Ritchie you all should check out The Gentlemen (2020)
Absolutely awesome and hilarious:

Is it really that good? People keep going on about it
It's based on League of Legends FFS, that thing doesn't even have a story
I downloaded it but haven't bothered with it so far
Do you have to play the game before you watch the cartoon?

Its good. I usually give people sh!t for liking normie stuff like YA but by some bizarre frog magick it just works. Just watch it, trust me.
Players get some references here and there, but playing the game is absolutely not a prereq to get into the story. Its actually more of an origin story for several champions with some retconning here and there so its not really as if you're missing out.

Anyone has link for watching in streaming the new russian film called Sky that is inspired by the su-24 shot down in Syria ?
It was supposed to be released end of november so there is probably someone that shared it online.

God, someone, show these shots to the jerks from Netflix who shot The Witcher series these shots:
This is how the soldiers of Nilfgaard should have looked like!
If anything, these are shots from the Russian fantasy series "Eterna", which premiered today on Kinopoisk.

Re: Movie Recommendation Thread
I am a big space war/opera fan.
The Expanse is packed with scenes like these.
I watched the season finale, where the Martians, U.N, and Belter navy's go after Marcos Inaros on his command ship the Pella and his remaining fleet.
James holden goes with an large collection of Specops from MCRN,UNN and Belters in an saturation assault to take out the Laconian Rail-guns gaurding the ring-station.
Hiding as an civilian ice-hauler on an supply run to an colony.
*spoilers!*
These rail-guns are based on the alien-protomolecule tech, witch is absurdly advanced tech and allows physics-defying performance.
In this case they are able to rapid-fire where recoil and power draw are no longer an concern.
Also, this is how you write strong (female) characters .

Oh just stop that
I have made two attempts to watch that shit, but it is just over my ability to saturate the bullshit
They are making the things in Hollywood, just like always.
A Mach 10+ scene supa dupa high tier plane from a nation that can't fulfill a test of a pipe filled with fuel that won't tear apart when goes Mach 5 is just fuckin' hilarious.
A 70's are awaiting the Muricans with arms wide open
Someone has to catch them up, as there is 50 years already passed since this giant step for humanity

Thrust Vectoring makes it impossible to dog fight in such an old thing like the F-14. But nice video. I enjoyed it.

The ol' zoom & boom
If flight sims have taught me anything - it's to never play to your opponent's strengths. And if you don't know your opponent's strengths to avoid them; so then play to your own and hope it works out. The F-14 has a great roll rate. Dunno how the Su-57s is, but there's a good chance the F-14's is better. This means it can change direction on a dime, either vertically or horizontally, and do so in a speed or sequence the Su-57 might not be able to anticipate or keep up with. You might be able to get him in front of your nose on a pass

Anyone watched the new Predator, I mean Prey movie?
So its like a Predator film, but set in the 1700s with native Americans.
The protagonist is a woman but I swear its actually enjoyable this time.

- Spoiler:
- And I really liked where they went with the Predator for this one. Dude's totally having the time of his life just massacring everyone and everything in its path. This isn't the jungle or forest hunter who are veterans, this one's a young horn. Expect very creative and fun ways of dispatching opponents like with that sick fan shield.

Re: Movie Recommendation Thread
i have seen a few videos from that guy and he knows the F-14 pretty well and I would think he swatted up on the Su-57 as well...
They would have done a lot of matches for him to try to find a weak point and as he found the only one... surprise ramming... not even just ramming... you have to catch him unawares...
The movie itself I have not seen but saw the dogfight sequence... it appeared the gun on the Su-57 was a rifle calibre machine gun in comparison to the mighty American 20mm.
Probably not going to bother sitting through that....
Based on the game of the same name?
American Indians kidnapped by aliens and taken as food and raw materials for their sick new monster race... the hero is a loser guy who has to rescue his girlfriend kidnapped by the aliens.
It is actually a rather good game and had portals and native American history and mythology woven in to it... I quite enjoyed the game, but if this movie is basically predator with indians then I guess it isn't based on the game...

It isn't. The previous film was just that d*gsh*t they had to rename this one just to avoid the stigma. Though an actual Prey movie would be nice.GarryB wrote:

Director Igor Maslennikov died yesterday. He was the creator of one of the best adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle about Sherlock Holmes. If someone has not watched the Soviet series about Sherlock Holmes yet, I highly recommend it.
It is on YouTube with English subtitles, you can find the first series by the link:
