I can see it now, 2030, Zelensky, Bidet, and Borish "tiny" Johnson will be in holding cells at the Hague, and a Putin appointed tribunal will be presiding over their trials for crimes against peace.

Methinks he is not going to enjoy election day too much.  Food prices and empty shelves at the grocery store, housing crisis, and ballooning gas prices and his failings at doing anything to stop COVID strongly point to a dominant GOP victory.  The good news is he is probably done as the government will be even more insanely gridlocked starting in January 2023.  The problem is that the GOP is even more psychotic on military policy than the Dumbocraps.

If Trump leads the Republicans again, they will not have an aggressive policy. I'm sure Donald would have fixed this crisis with a phone call with Putin. It's that simple.

How come it came so close to Sevastopol in the first place??? S-400 should have shot down the drone at least a 100 km away from the city.

Russian air defense is being very careful to make sure it is a valid target.  Russia is being subjected to complete demonization.  The last thing they need is to shoot down some business jet or something like that which is off course and not answering comms.

Well I see two scenario here :

An cnemy civilian drone like those small quadcoptzrs that you can buy online and used by special ops to spy on russian navy there.

Or it's a russian exercice with similar drones to test their reaction time like iranian did aroubd their nuclear plants.

Seeing how the missiles go straight on the target and not taking a path trying to intercept it means it was a stationary target flying at low altitude which would confirm it's a small quadcopter. The drone isn't visible so it confirms it's small drone. Tb-2 or other are visible at such distances.

It does need good armour. Can get pelted with HMG fire on approach, as what happened on day 1

And of course a Vitebsk system and more countermeasures can't hurt, for those Mi-8s in VDV service

There is an armour package for mi-8 Kevlar plates were attached to vital parts of the aircraft. The thing with the mi-8 is its supposed to carry troops and cargo and covering the whole thing in armour would nullify it's designed role. I agree with adding the Vitebsk system and Kevlar plates on vital areas but these will only protect from 7.62mm and maybe 12.7 mm but it's better than nothing.

Not all Mi-8s. Just the ones used for airborne landings in hot-zones

Yes I remember the kevlar upgrade. Don't know if it was fitted.

It's an optional package. I believe it's on the armed versions, and most likely for special forces airdrops. But the rest of fleet most likely wouldn't need it, would just be wasting fuel.

No, a small quadcopter would not have the range. They might have tried one of those old Soviet UAV's with an explosive device that went to Croatia.

The Buk it seems was on a suicide mission parked out in the open on a ploughed field where it stuck out like a sore thumb.
I think Russia has to be careful of fakes/decoy's Ukraine seems willing to try anything. And a fake could easily be a an old rusting vehicle sitting in a military scrapyard towed into position.

Not saying this bombing but it's something that Russia needs to be aware of.

And it's very odd for AD system that has been using the tactics of hide and seek to suddenly want to move across a ploughed field where it is clearly seen. That's also what I was getting at.

I am pretty sure it’s a new mass surrender. The one a week ago was 67 officers from an command/communications post near #Kiev. This is the fresh one. (a) they don’t look like officers; (b) the first group had already been processed. I could be wrong, of course, but…

Actually there are plenty of stupid pilots and companies. The Malaisian plane that was downed was flying in the middle of Donbas when downed eventhough use of air defence in the area was common at the time.

Also the jamming in the area could lead them to fly in Ukraine. They rely a lot on GPS. It's a matter of few minutes and civiliab plabes are static targets for S-300/400 or buks that have missiles flying at mach 4 or more.
