But they were in in Poland, with no actual "Russians" (that is, reps from Russia) present, right?
At this stage, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire "Novichok" story has been Ukrainian hybrid warfare all along. Those guys shy away from nothing.

The remaining for Ukrainian groups ind units defending Mariupol (about 4,000 of them) are currently trying to form a strong strike fighting group that would try to break through the ring and leave the city.
14,500>7,000>4,000
That's assuming that the original numbers were correct. But if so, then some 10k Ukrainian servicemen perished right there, and that would make the overall figures even wilder than the official Russian estimates, given that similarly fierce fighting has been going on elsewhere, especially in the Donbass, and many dozens of rear attacks have left thousands dead.
We're then looking at 30,000 or more UA military dead, vs some 3000 RU/LDNR, so my old 1:10 thing still stands, eh.
Also, now we've seen many dozens of Ukrainian war crimes in only a week, about the same number of war crimes they committed every 6 months or so over the past 8 years. Not only does the ramping up of it tell of desperation, it sheds a light on just exactly what kind of people we're dealing with here.
The entire bandera cult and everything literally revolves around war crimes. UON-UPA and onwards, that's been their shtick all along. And since 2014, they've been naming streets, squares, sports arenas etc after these self-professed and proud war criminals, they've put up statues and they've made national holidays out of them.
My granny in law who was caught up in WW2 in Ukraine said she feared the fanatical Bandera-Ukrainians more than the Nazis themselves. And indeed, you'll find lots of witness accounts from extermination camps in Poland (Sobibor etc) where Ukrainians ran the show and were far more sadistic to local prisoners (Poles, Jews, Soviet POWs, "not-Ukrainian enough" Ukrainians etc) than the Germans who had been sent there.
