Russian trucks to be assembled in DR Congo – envoy 04.18.2023.

Kamaz is also in talks with Kinshasa on boosting imports of parts and vehicles.

Russian truck maker Kamaz is planning to build an assembly plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the African country’s ambassador to Moscow said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency.

According to Ivan Vangu Ngimbi, the Congolese authorities are currently discussing plans for the facility in the capital, Kinshasa, with the Russian automaker.

“In addition to [supplying] spare parts, service and driver training for these vehicles, we are also discussing the possibility of setting up a plant to assemble Kamaz vehicles in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the future,” the ambassador said, without specifying the exact timeframe.

Ngimbi noted that he also held a meeting with the head of Kamaz, during which he discussed the potential for increasing the supply of Russian trucks to his country. Ngimbi noted that Kamaz vehicles are well known in DR Congo, and local drivers highly “appreciate their quality.”

Kamaz is Russia’s largest truck maker, with a market share of 23.5% as of February this year, according to Avtostat statistics service. The company is widely known for its cab-over trucks and also produces buses and car engines. The company’s heavy duty models are exported to many areas of the world including CIS countries, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Kamaz trucks have won the Dakar Rally a record 19 times, the most in the truck category by any manufacturer.

Russia, ready to expand cooperation with India in various spheres, 04.18.2023.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is ready to increase cooperation with India in the sphere of peaceful nuclear energy, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said. He also assured that the Asian country shows great interest in Russian IT solutions.

"For our part, we are ready to expand interaction with the Indian side on all directions prospects in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes," he told reporters.

He recalled that this year is the 35th anniversary of Russian-Indian cooperation in the sphere of atomic energy. In particular, he highlighted the joint project of the construction of the Koodankulam nuclear power plant, launched in 2014.

In this context, he stressed that Russia hopes to develop other joint projects in this sphere.

    Russian IT services

In addition, the minister stressed that the Indian market could be very promising for Russian companies offering IT service, in particular biometric systems and means of identification or computer security. In particular, the Russian toll collection system called Platon is operated by the company RT-Invest Transport Systems.

"Representatives of India expressed their interest in intelligent systems, such as automatic toll collection for cargo trucks on highways, intelligent navigation and ship tracking systems, pedestrian and vehicle security systems," the Russian head of state said in statements to the press.

Manturov arrived in India on April 17 at the head of a large delegation of businessmen and senior officials to participate in a business forum and a meeting of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation in the commercial, scientific, technological and cultural fields.

    Russian fertilizer exports

The Ministry of Trade and Industry of Russia forecasts an increase in exports of mineral fertilizers to India in 2023.

"We hope that the trend of increasing exports of mineral fertilizers to our partners from India will continue in 2023," Manturov said.

In 2022, the minister stressed, Russian exports of fertilizers to India grew 3.4 times in terms of quantity compared to the previous financial year. Russian companies mainly shipped mineral fertilizers, nitrogen and potassium fertilizers to the Asian country.

India is one of the main importers of Russian fertilizers. Earlier this month, the Russian company Uralkal announced the signing of a contract with the company Indian Potash Limited (IPL) for the shipment of potassium chloride.

In the food sector, prices increased by 0.08% due to an increase in the price of fruits and vegetables, prices for other goods from the segment increased by 0.03%. Prices for non-food products do not rise for the second week in a row.

25 Rostic's restaurants to open in Moscow, 04.25.2023.

In the near future, 25 Rostic's restaurants will open in Moscow , followed by another 15 in Khanty-Mansiysk. After that, the rest of the outlets in Russia will be launched, the general director of the Unirest company, which manages the former assets of the American Yum!, said at a press conference. Brands, Tatiana Shamanskaya 25 April.

The transition to a new brand will allow a return to active growth, she added.

The company plans to fully retain the investments that were previously directed to the development of the network. The amount is not named.

In addition, it is planned to keep the team that worked at KFC in recent years, said a representative of Rostic's. The brand has 22 partners who are interested in developing a franchise network, added Konstantin Kotov, co-owner of Smart Service.

The company also left prices unchanged, Rostic's COO Olga Eliseeva said.

According to her, the validity of coupons that allow you to purchase products at a better price will remain.

In addition, new products will be introduced to the menu, which will appear before the end of the year, Eliseeva said.

“We continue to work with the same suppliers. 99% of suppliers are domestic, all suppliers have maintained a partnership with the new brand,” she explained.

Rostic's will develop a loyalty program for regular customers, Eliseeva said.

"We will remain available to our guests,” Shamanskaya added.

Rostic's is number two in the market, but there are ambitions to take the lead, she said.

At the same time, Kotov specified that now the network's market share is 30%, but it is planned to increase it.

On April 25 , the flagship restaurant of the Rostic's chain was opened in the capital . It is located on Tverskaya-Yamskaya street.

April 17 Yum! Brands announced the completion of the deal to sell the KFC business and leave Russia. Smart Service Ltd, managed by Konstantin Kotov and Andrey Oskolkov, became the new owner of fast food restaurants. Then it was clarified that as part of the deal, the parties agreed on rebranding in the future, as a result, the chain was renamed Rostic's.

On March 8, 2022, the American company announced the suspension of investments and development in Russia.

Prisons here in Canada feed their inmates better than what I eat.

    Same with Homeless.

But things may change now on our economy being in the gutter.

Canada does not feed its homeless, unless it is the feeding being done by some Christian or Muslim charity or something like that.

In case of the Christian and Muslim charities, at least in some cases, the food can be really good.

Never ate myself, but heard about it.

LEGO-Russian Guard and domestic "Viagra". How Russia will replace Western brands that have gone completely

Some of the foreign brands that left the Russian market with the start of the CBO are returning to it in one way or another under new names after selling their business to local entrepreneurs. The place of those companies that do not plan to work with Russia at all in the foreseeable future is being taken by domestic brands, offering analogues of products once supplied from abroad. Read more about their successes and failures in the material 66.RU.

The manufacturer of LEGO construction sets ceased commercial activities in Russia in July 2022. Our manufacturers also know how to make constructors, but with their own flavor. Under the Igroland brand, they sell the set “The Main Temple of the Armed Forces of Russia” for 1042 parts. This one costs about 10 thousand rubles.

The company also produces a series of "Buildings of the Big City" with small versions of the Church of the Savior on Blood, the Vostochny cosmodrome, the main building of Moscow State University and even the Yeltsin Center.

The toy manufacturer Simbat also produces Lego-compatible sets of its own theme. The Russian company, unlike the Danes, does not turn to popular culture, its sets are dedicated to the military, firefighters, police and, of course, the Rosgvardia.

The popular Swedish chain IKEA left Russia last fall. It was decided to be replaced by entrepreneurs from the Republic of Belarus, where they came up with the idea of selling their own and similar goods “a la IKEA” under the SWED House brand. The first store of the network opened in one of the Moscow shopping centers, it is planned that SWED House will be present in other cities, including Yekaterinburg. You can still buy original IKEA products in Russia, for example, on Yandex.Market.

Apple was among the first to leave the Russian market, but they did not stop importing the iPhone. Parallel import helped. But the legislators decided that it could not last so long and at least at the level of employees of the presidential administration banned the use of "apple" technology. Instead, of course, their phones on the Aurora operating system. Since last year, the AYYA T1 smartphone has been actively advertised on the Web. For all the time of sale, it was eventually bought 905 times.

AYYA T1 was advertised by State Duma deputies Maria Butina and Denis Maidanov.

Officials also do not trust the American Zoom platform, recommending that it be abandoned in favor of the domestic Trueconf.

In February 2023, news appeared that the American biopharmaceutical company Viatris had stopped supplying the drug Viagra to Russia to improve potency. This happened against the backdrop of high popularity: in the first three months of this year alone, the number of drugs sold increased by 40% compared to the same period last year. Viagra is not produced in Russia, but the Ministry of Health assures that there is a “technological possibility for the production of drugs with the same active substance” within the country. As an example, officials cited the drug Sildenafil-SZ.

As a preventive measure, Russian IT specialists are developing analogues of Western software products. They will be actively implemented in case popular services are blocked. In particular, we are talking about the "Russian Wikipedia" - "Runiversalis". For comparison, according to SimilarWeb, in February, the Runiversalis website received 19.6 thousand visits, while this figure for Wikipedia exceeded 133 million.

    Russian Economy General News: #13 - Page 10 E89ed16c_resizedScaled_1200to672

Already on the main page of "Runiversalis" a large number of items with the epithet "Russian" are mentioned.

Rutube, unlike YouTube video hosting, is also used less often by Russians - video makers prefer to receive income from the affiliate program of the American service (for which some were even recognized as foreign agents).

They plan to replace YouTube with the help of the VK Video platform. Prerequisites - the transfer of the popular show "What happened next" to the Russian platform. The audience was not only dissatisfied with the content of the release, but also complained about problems with the player of the VKontakte social network, where the show is now released exclusively.

At the end of last year, the developer of the MyOffice office suite requested government funding to improve its software. We are talking about both interface elements and the ability to translate macros (embedded in program documents) written in the Microsoft programming language. Among the customers are Rosatom and Russian Railways, which already use MyOffice. The developer believes that "in the context of cyber warfare" the use of Microsoft products threatens the economy.

Recently, it became known about the development of a competitor to the ChatGPT neural network - the SistemmaGPT chat bot. The artificial intelligence model is under testing. The authors claim that SistemmaGPT is capable of producing high-quality texts, can answer questions, suggest recipes, create a curriculum, write an essay, code or resume, or simply carry on a conversation on behalf of famous people.

No change rate, by Evgenia Kryuchkova for Kommersant. 04.28.2023.

The Central Bank kept it at 7.5% for the fifth time in a row.

The Bank of Russia today at a meeting of the Board of Directors decided to keep the key rate at 7.5% per annum. The lack of movement is explained by moderate inflation rates, which as of April 24, due to the high base effect, had already dropped to 2.5% in annual terms. The regulator has improved its macro forecast for 2023 today: by the end of the year, inflation is expected to be at the level of 4.5-6.5%, GDP growth - 0.5-2.0%.

The key rate, as analysts expected, today remained at the level of 7.5% per annum - the figure has remained unchanged since September 2022. The Bank of Russia explains its decision by moderate rates of annual inflation: under the influence of the high base effect, the indicator dropped significantly - from 11% in February to 3.5% in March, and, according to estimates as of April 24, to 2.5%. At the same time, since the end of the year, inflation growth rates have increased and are estimated at 4% in annual terms.

According to the Central Bank, inflation was held back by the ongoing adaptation of the economy to sanctions and “high levels of stocks for a number of commodity groups” with moderate dynamics of consumer demand.

In the coming months, the indicator, according to the forecast of the Bank of Russia, will remain at a level below 4%, and in the second half of the year it will begin to gradually grow, by the end of the year it is expected at the level of 4.5-6.5% (previously the regulator spoke about 5-7%).

Inflation expectations, while remaining at an elevated level, demonstrate multidirectional dynamics: in April they decreased on the part of the population, while the price expectations of enterprises increased.

The balance over the medium term remained skewed towards pro-inflationary risks, which are associated, in particular, with a significant shortage of labor in certain industries, the impact of “geopolitical tensions on the terms of foreign trade” (namely, the risks of increased sanctions, which could further weaken demand for goods from Russian exports), as well as the complexity of production chains, logistics and financial calculations.

Among the short-term risks, the Central Bank, as in March, calls "a deterioration in the growth prospects of the global economy against the backdrop of instability in the financial markets of developed countries."

The Bank of Russia estimates that economic activity is growing faster than expected in February, indicating that the economy continues to adjust and domestic demand increases, which, in turn, contributes to improving business sentiment.

However, if consumer demand, although recovering, still remains moderate, the contribution of budgetary policy to the expansion of aggregate demand continues to grow, including through the expansion of government investments.

The regulator again reminds that if the budget deficit increases, pro-inflationary risks will increase and a tighter monetary policy will be required.

Nevertheless, the Central Bank improved its forecast for GDP dynamics: at the end of 2023, the regulator expects growth in the range of 0.5-2.0% (instead of a fork from a decline of 1% to an increase of 1%). Expectations regarding further dynamics remained the same: GDP growth in 2024 could be 0.5–2.5%, 1.5–2.5% in 2025.

The Central Bank did not change the signal regarding the subsequent dynamics of the key rate, noting that "in the context of a gradual increase in the current inflationary pressure, the Bank of Russia at the next meetings will evaluate the feasibility of raising the key rate to stabilize inflation near 4% in 2024."

If Russia focuses on squeezing out Western manufacturing and services in the global south from a quality/price perspective then it should slowly delocate its economy into an export oriented one by proceeding with a weakening of the ruble as well as fomenting local multinational enterprises with sound Russian brand names operating on a global basis.
Now that Russian inflation is controlled, RCB may wish to reassess its policy of inflation targeting towards a focus on foreign currency hoarding in the economy when deciding on the key rate in order to provide incentives for nationals to exchange foreign currencies into rising ruble bank deposit rates.

"I suspect that there are more things in heaven and earth that are dreamed of, or can be dreamed of, in any philosophy", J.B.S. Haldane (paradoxically a Marxist) in Possible Worlds .

Oreshkin announced a new round of economic growth in Russia, 05.02.2023.

The mentor of the Leaders of Russia competition of managers, the flagship project of the presidential platform “Russia is a Land of Opportunities”, Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin is sure that a new creative era has begun in the development of the state. He urged the participants to show their worth.

Promising tasks, in his opinion, will require the work of competent and capable managers, while their demand in all areas will be very high. There is very little time left before the end of registration: it runs until May 14, 2023 on the leaderryrossii.rf website.

“For the Russian economy, a creative period has come, I would even say a creative era. There are a number of areas that have to develop, which will require the use of modern management approaches. The time has begun, so to speak, for the development of one's own country. This means big investments in infrastructure, its development and tourism. Progress is expected in the technological development of Russia: a number of projects will be implemented - from unmanned aerial vehicles to aircraft and shipbuilding. New financing instruments will be created in fast-growing technology companies. A very interesting period is coming, and I am sure that the participants in the Leaders of Russia competition will take their rightful place in this process,” Oreshkin said.

He emphasized that at the new round of the country's economic growth, there will be a need for competent specialists who can apply modern management technologies. In his opinion, the demand for such specialists will be very high.

“The task of Leaders of Russia is to enable any competent, capable manager to take an additional step forward, progress, and prove himself. The competition was conceived as a vertical social elevator so that a person from any field could prove himself,” he said.

Maxim Oreshkin considers the ability to work in a team to be one of the most valuable qualities of modern leaders: “A team is valuable by the balance of its members. Someone is more diligent and accurate, someone is creative and prone to creating new ideas. Each individual specialist will not achieve the result that he can give together with his colleagues. Any team is valuable for its diversity, the presence of different competencies, different abilities and types of character. Only such a balance allows you to achieve the maximum result.

The assistant to the President of the Russian Federation is sure that in order to become a good leader, you need to learn this: “You need to learn to listen to employees, give them the right motivation and the opportunity to develop. You will never do as much alone as you can with your team. Therefore, if you trust your team and properly motivate it, set interesting tasks for it, this will be rewarded with a high overall result.”

Oreshkin told what the main role of a mentor is: “It consists in explaining to the mentor what mistakes you yourself made, then the young specialist will be able to learn from others, and not from his own mistakes. This happens infrequently, everyone always steps on basically the same rake. But communication with a mentor allows you to go through this path faster, understand what the problem is, and move on.”

The Leaders of Russia contest, in which Oreshkin acts as a mentor for the participants, is interesting to him in the opportunity to meet bright people, their work and projects.

“The Russian economy has entered a unique period of development. On the horizon of several decades, now is the best time to prove yourself and take a step forward. Dare! Participate in the competition "Leaders of Russia"! Only in this way will you understand what you are really capable of. Be yourself, rely on your strengths, and everything will work out! Oreshkin addressed the contestants.

The Leaders of Russia competition for managers has been held on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation since 2017. For four seasons, more than 840,000 applications from 150 countries were submitted for participation in it.

Except Russian export products are probably already a bargain compared with western made products, and with the energy increases in Europe Russian production is likely to only get more competitive.

When European production moves to the US because of the billions in funding support the US is going to give them and the promise of cheap electricity the Russians can then stop supplying uranium for nuclear power in the US so electricity costs go up and also an embargo on sales of Russian energy to the US and increased prices to customers to sell to the west will also make western energy costs much higher... so the costs of moving production to the US and increased costs when they get there and the US dollar losing its value will be one hell of a shit storm for the west to deal with... but really nothing they didn't already try to do to Russia... and dozens of other countries over the years.

“It consists in explaining to the mentor what mistakes you yourself made, then the young specialist will be able to learn from others, and not from his own mistakes. This happens infrequently, everyone always steps on basically the same rake. But communication with a mentor allows you to go through this path faster, understand what the problem is, and move on.”

Yes, a fool never learns from their mistakes... sanctions against Russia were not wrong... they just didn't go far enough... more sanctions is the solution... that is a fool. The sensible person learns from their own mistakes but being sensible means you make mistakes. The genius learns from the mistakes of others and therefore does not make mistakes others often make.

Of course it is not simple... you have to have a full investigation and understand what happened.

If you are in a car accident and you forgot to put on your seatbelt and as the car rolls you are thrown from the vehicle that then falls 200m down a cliff and explodes the lesson is not that you should not wear your seat belt because that was an unusual occurrence... if you are driving near steep cliffs or near deep ocean water at low speed taking off your seatbelt so you can jump out of the vehicle and clear of it if it rolls down into water or off a steep drop is smart, but most of the time wearing a seat belt is a good idea.

You need a proper understanding of what is happening and why before you can work out what you should be doing in that situation.

The level of external debt in relation to gross domestic product (GDP) in Russia fell to a historic low last year. This was reported on May 6 by RIA Novosti, referring to its calculations made on the basis of data from national central banks and state statistics services.

According to these data, the level of external debt to GDP in Russia decreased to 16.6%, that is, by 10 percentage points. This figure is the lowest since 2002. Journalists also note that the decline in Russian GDP slowed to 1.1% in annual terms.

According to the agency, the lowest rate among the world's largest economies is observed in China: There, it fell from 15.4% to 13.7% over the year, while in India, the external debt amounted to 19.1% of GDP.

At the same time, the highest indicators of external debt are demonstrated by European countries: the Netherlands (380.5% of GDP), the United Kingdom (287%), Switzerland (280.5%). It is noted that in these countries, the indicator for the year decreased by 14.29 and 16 percentage points, respectively. The external debt of France is 249% of GDP, Belgium 242%, Spain 179%, Sweden 170%, Germany 159%, Norway 132%, Italy 131%.

"In total, the level of debt to non-residents in comparison with GDP increased only in five of the 25 countries studied, the strongest — in Japan (by 10 percentage points, up to 104%). At the same time, seven countries have increased their external debt in absolute terms: Norway, the United States and South Korea (by 5%), Turkey (4.5%), Argentina (3%), Brazil (2%) and Poland (1%).

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov on May 4 at a meeting with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin said that the forecast for Russia's GDP growth in 2023 at 1.2% is rather conservative, in fact, this figure may be higher.

On the same day, the head of state noted that the inflation rate and the state debt situation in the country are better than in a number of other countries — 14.9%. For comparison, he recalled that in the United States, the national debt is 121.7%, in the eurozone-90.9%, in Germany-66.5%, in France-111.1%.

From January to March, 1.3 million foreigners entered Russia to work

This information is taken from FSB statistics provided by Vedomosti. It is noted that the recorded influx of migrants is more than one and a half times higher than the number of arrivals in the first quarter of last year. Over the past period, the influx of migrants amounted to about 842 thousand people.

According to the FSB, the largest number of visitors are citizens of Uzbekistan, they arrived in the amount of almost 631 thousand. Next come the natives of Tajikistan - almost 350 thousand, Kyrgyzstan - more than 172 thousand. Armenia and Kazakhstan close the top five in terms of labor migration - from there, in total, less than 83,000 people came to Russia.

Also in 2023, citizens from far abroad visited Russia for employment, for example, from countries such as the Haitian and Dominican Republics, as well as the United Arab Emirates.

The influx of migrants can also be judged on the basis of information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on patents and permits for employment.

Vedomosti notes that, based on statistics, it can be concluded that the migration loss has been overcome, which has been replaced by an increase. For the first two months of this year, it amounted to almost 30 thousand people. Negative indicators of past periods were associated with the effect of coronavirus restrictive measures.

In the near future, a continued growth in migration flows to Russia is predicted due to the increase in the population of the countries of the Central Asian region and the increasingly difficult situation on the labor market there. However, natural causes, such as droughts and degradation of agricultural lands, which reduce the overall efficiency of the economy, also provoke massive displacements of the population. Maybe it would be better for Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan and Kirgistan to rejoin Russia. Wink

According to the Central Bank, the Russian economy will fully recover to a stable level in two years.

The Russian economy will fully recover in 2023-2024 and reach a stable level by early 2025. The Bank of Russia shared its forecast for the country's economic development. This was reported by "Kommersant" with reference to the report of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

The report noted that last year the basis for economic growth was a record "industrial capacity utilization." In 2023, consumer demand will play the role of a catalyst for economic processes.

As previously reported, according to analysts of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, by the summer of 2023, the growth of the Russian economy will reach 4.2% . And by the beginning of 2025, the GDP growth rate will fluctuate between 1.5-2.5%.

Recall that at the end of April, the Central Bank for the fifth time kept the key rate at 7.5% per annum.
