According to the Israelis, the battles in the city of Khan Yunis are one of the most difficult battles in the entire Gaza Strip, and the Palestinian fighters strongly resist the Israeli forces. Given the functions of this site it would be likely that there was a large number of highly skilled personnel, including possible US, there. One of the most important potential targets in Israel affecting their activities over both Lebanon and Syria.

If a real war does break out its likely this area will be a smoking ruin, including the underground parts of it, within minutes, these 56 missiles/rockets just being ranging shots.
