The missile cruiser "Varyag" and the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" arrived in the port of Salalah on the Arabian Sea in Oman, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

Today, formations and associations of the Navy, in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, are starting to participate in the strategic command and staff exercise "Ocean-2024", which will last until September 16 inclusive. The exercise will be conducted in a bilateral format under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, and will become one of the main events of operational and combat training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024.

The maneuvers, which will take place in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, the Mediterranean, the Caspian and the Baltic Seas, will involve more than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels of the auxiliary fleet, more than 120 aircraft and helicopters of naval aviation and Aerospace Forces, about 7,000 units of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as more than 90,000 personnel.

The main tasks of the strategic command and staff exercise "Ocean-2024" are to check the readiness of the leadership of the associations and formations of the Russian Navy to manage heterogeneous groupings of forces in their areas of responsibility, to solve non-standard operational tasks, the integrated use of high-precision weapons, promising and modern models of weapons and military equipment during the practical part of the exercise, as well as expanding cooperation with the naval forces of the partner countries in solving joint tasks at sea.

As part of the first stage of the strategic command and staff exercise, the military authorities will work out the issues of deploying groups of forces in designated combat training ranges.

At the second stage, the participants of the SKSHU will be involved in the drawing of "combat operations" to defeat strategically important objects and forces of a conditional enemy, landings on an unequipped coast, protection of objects of maritime economic activity and strategic communications, taking into account the modern nature of armed struggle at sea.

Operational groups from other law enforcement agencies and federal executive authorities - the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Security Service, the Federal Service of National Guard Troops and the Federal Security Service of Russia - will be involved in the strategic command and staff exercise Ocean-2024.

Operational groups of military authorities and military contingents from foreign partner states of the Russian Federation have also been invited to participate in the exercise.

Did someone say Russia was running out of missiles?  

It is an exercise... perfectly normal to use older ammo up in an exercise.

Plus real combat experience in Ukraine has proven Onyx is plenty good enough and Zircon is overkill...

Lots of older missiles that otherwise would be destroyed because they were considered obsolete can now be used against targets in the Ukraine...

Moskit is overkill for most targets.

"Neustrashimy": a secret mission?

The Neustrashimy ship in the Strait of Gibraltar, 18.08.2024 (photo by Peter Ferrary ) After a visit to Cuba on 27-31 July this year, the Neustrashimy ship of the Baltic Fleet crossed the Atlantic and, according to data from X, passed the Strait of Gibraltar on 18.08 (see photo), adding to the OpS in the SZM. Further monitoring of the Neustrashimy ship is based on its supposed connection with the Akademik Pashin tanker, which, judging by unclear satellite images, was accompanied by a ship 125-135 m long ( at 11540 Lнб=129.5 m). According to VesselFinder, on September 3 , "Pashin" passed through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea, and according to the latest data (from MarineTraffic from 06.09, after which the AIS was switched off) it was moving south at 11 knots. The most interesting thing is that the tanker (SMT project 23130 ) with a cargo hold for dry cargo , was heading towards the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, which was 320 miles away (about a day's journey), and the day before - 530 miles. It is not a fact, but it is possible that "Pashin", guarded by "Neustrashimy" (it was not in the SZM on 12.09 ), delivered "gifts" to the Houthis for our common enemy (it did what was promised as a symmetrical response to the supply of Western weapons to the Kiev regime).
