Laser-television system for the Su-34 in the mode of automatic aerial tracking. As an air target Su-35. The work of the laser-television guidance system of the Su-34 in the automatic tracking of an aerial target. As an air target, today we have a blue-breasted Su-35. In general, this sight on this
Useful feature in destroying low-flying cruise missiles, and with the Su-34's immense payload, some interesting solutions could be made. Like having a pallet of Igla-S/Verba/Vikhr/Kornet attached to all the hardpoints on each wing, you could easily fit 50 per wing, and engage in a major whack-a-cruise-missile campaign.

Its pretty interesting capability, that thing is the ground target designator.
Being on the bottom tracking is lost when it comes above the horizon line.

Or indeed 80mm rockets with laser guidance kits attached... how many rocket pods could it carry each with 20 x 80mm rockets inside....
For longer range 122mm rocket pods can be carried with guided rockets... 5 per pod.
Being a strike aircraft that is not a huge issue and it can also carry wing mounted targeting pods that can follow targets above the horizon... they can even be fitted backwards to mark targets the aircraft has already flown past... for following aircraft to engage.
Certainly some pod with a half a dozen MANPADS like Igla-S or Verba would be ideal for chasing down cruise missiles... as both Igla-S and Verba have proximity fuses for use against small targets...

For sure, I just found it jarring at first how tracking was suddenly completely lost before I noticed its as the target comes above the horizon.Being a strike aircraft that is not a huge issue

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Not many strike targets will get above the horizon for an Su-34... besides, the system is the default system every aircraft gets to give it basic capabilities... for serious missions with difficult targets or unusual conditions that require better it can carry an external targeting pod if needed... they have the Sapsan pod and new pods being developed for PAK FA too.
The transparency facing directly down allows it to look back a little when it is deployed downwards as it is for normal use to keep tracking targets the aircraft has flown over... so for instance if you are dropping bombs on something it allows the system to keep an eye on the target until impact slightly behind the aircraft.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Four more Su-34 bomber aircraft received from the Russian Aerospace Forces
Reportedly, Sukhoi Company, PJSC (part of United Aircraft Building Corporation JSC) transferred the next four Su-34 front-line bomber Su-34 of the new construction of the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after VP Chkalov to the state defense order in 2018 The planes were transferred in pairs on December 19 and 22, 2018 and headed to the place of their deployment.
Reportedly, the last Su-34 front-line bomber, built for the Russian Aerospace Forces under the state defense order of 2018 at the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after V.P. Chkalov (a branch of PJSC "Company" Sukhoi ") during production tests, snapshot 12/15/2018. The flight numbers were not printed at the time of the shooting. Presumably, this board was transferred to the Russian Aerospace Force as part of a batch of four Su-34s 19-22.12 .2018 (c) stream / forums.airforce.ru
Comment bmpd. Thus, we are talking about the entry of four more Su-34 front-line bombers from the new NAZ unit into the 2nd Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 21st Mixed Aviation Division of the 14th Smolensk Red Banner Army and Air Defense forces of the Central Military District deployed at the Shagol airfield (Chelyabinsk ). Supposedly, the transferred planes have serial numbers from T-10B-124 to T-10B-127, and became the last Su-34 bombers built on the NAZ according to the state defense order of 2018.
Recall that earlier from the end of 2017, the 2nd Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment, which was previously equipped with Su-24M2 front-line bombers, received 14 Su-34 new-built NAZ aircraft in the process of re-equipment. Su-34 vehicles with red side numbers from “01” to “12” (aircraft from T-10B-110 to T-10B-121) were transferred to the 2nd regiment in pairs on November 24 and December 22, 2017, and February 2018 and May 22, May 29 and October 18, 2018. At the same time, these 12 aircraft did not arrive at the permanent location of the 2nd Regiment in Shagol, but were temporarily transferred to the 4th State Center for the Training of Aviation Personnel and Troop Tests of the Russian Defense Ministry named after V.P. Chkalov in Lipetsk to retrain flight crews 2 Bomber Regiment. Moreover, in February 2018, upon completion of retraining, the first four Su-34 regiment airplanes, transferred at the end of 2017 (red side numbers from “01” to “04”) were transferred to the Russian aviation group at Khmeimim airbase in Syria.
Only in September 2018, the Su-34 bombers, received by the regiment, finally arrived at the permanent location in Shagol.
Two more Su-34 bombers of the new construction were transferred to the regiment on December 6, 2018. Judging by the well-known reports, all six Su-34 aircraft handed over to NAZ in December were transferred directly to Shagol.
With the receipt of four Su-34s transferred on December 19 and 22, 2018, the total number of vehicles of this type in the 2nd Guards Bomber Regiment reached 18.
The rearmament of the 2nd Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment in Shagol will continue. According to the Chelyabinsk web resource chelyabinsk.74.ru, "there are three squadrons in the regiment. One of them is already fully re-equipped [on the Su-34]. Another will be equipped with new aircraft by the end of the next [2019] year."
Four transferred to the 2nd bomber regiment of the Su-34 aircraft on December 19 and 22 were manufactured by the NAZ under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense dated February 2012 for 92 such aircraft. With their delivery, the total number of aircraft of this type transferred to the VCS under the contract of 2012 reached 84 units. The first two Su-34s under this contract were transferred to Novosibirsk by the Russian Air Force on December 24, 2013, the next 18 aircraft - in 2014, another 18 aircraft - in 2015, 16 - in 2016, 16 - in 2017, and 14 - in 2018. The total number of Su-34s built under all contracts, including seven prototypes and pre-production samples, has now reached 127 units.

119 in total excluding prototypes. So we expect 8 more next year and the contracts are all fulfilled (according to bmpd)

Bmpd has a mistake in the account, this year 12 have been manofactured, not 14
The batch of 2 in January were the last two of 2017 plan
Anyway the total contracted is 129 (5+32+92) and the total received are 119 serial Su-34 so it is easy to see there are 10 pending for 2019
For 2020 are expected Su-34M , probably other 72 for 3 regiments (Shatalovo, Marinovka and other n the East)

Central Military District receives two Su-34 fighter bombers under state defence order
Two Su-34 fighter bombers were supplied under state defence order to an aviation regiment stationed in Chelyabinsk region of the Central Military District in January 2019. The aircraft were relocated to the Shagol airfield for permanent deployment.
Their crews underwent training courses in the Lipetsk Training Centre, and prepared for technical operation of the new-type aircraft.
Earlier it was reported that 16 Su-34 fighter bombers had been supplied to the Central Military District for the first time.
Su-34 is designed for eliminating both ground and air targets in the daytime and at night under any weather conditions. The aircraft uses long-range air-to-surface and air-to-air guided weapons providing multi-channel application. Su-34 flight range - up to 4,000 km, maximum speed - up to 1,900 km / h, combat load - up to eight tons. The noise level from the Su-34 is two times less in comparison with the aircraft of earlier modifications.

Very sad news
Two Russian Air Force Su-34 fighter-bombers collided Friday during a training mission midair 44 km off the coast over the Sea of Japan.
The both crew of 2 occupants ejected, pilot and navigator. At around 11:00 Moscow time, a search and rescue helicopter rescued one of the Su-34’s pilots found in his life raft with adverse weather conditions. The dramatic rescue mission saw one pilot found on a life raft in the sea, and could be picked up by helicopter.
At this moment the Russian Defense Ministry said the following a massive search involving several rescue ships and aircraft, two other crewmen were found dead. The search for the fourth missing pilot is continuing despite strong winds.
Earlier, the Defense Ministry said two crewmembers were rescued, but later retracted the report and said that just one crewman has been found alive.

Russia Pursues ISR And Electronic Warfare Versions Of Su-34
Oct 31, 2018 Piotr Butowski | Aviation Week & Space Technology
https://aviationweek.com/defense/russia-pursues-isr-and-electronic-warfare-versions-su-34-5
Oct 31, 2018 Piotr Butowski | Aviation Week & Space Technology
The Russian defense ministry is adapting four Sukhoi Su-34 aircraft with reconnaissance pods, but has kept its electronic version of the aircraft largely under wraps.
The ministry this month announced it plans to sign, next month, a $3.9 million contract to enable the Su-34s to use unified reconnaissance pods, including installing pylons, a contract that will be implemented this year and into 2019.
The contract is in addition to Russia’s overall fighter inventory upgrade of the last decade and the ongoing purchase and upgrade of the Su-34 fleet.
Initially, the military had planned to replace its only tactical reconnaissance aircraft, the Su-24MR Fencer-E, with the Su-27R, which would have featured reconnaissance equipment built into the airframe, but that program was never completed. The new approach under the latest contract allows the Su-34 to be fitted with the Bazovyi Kompleks Razvedki (BKR-3); the M400A, a reconnaissance suite developed by Moscow-based NII Kulon within the Antrakt research and development program will be carried in externally mounted Universalnyi Konteyner Razvedki (UKR) unified reconnaissance pods.
Russia is modifying four of its Su-34 aircraft to carry the UKR series intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) pods. Credit: Piotr Butowski
The adaptation of the Su-34 for carrying UKR series pods and performing reconnaissance tasks is fairly straightforward, costs about $1 million and is a modification that can be applied to many different aircraft.
The main radar reconnaissance sensor is the M402 Pika-M side-looking radar from NII Kulon, mounted in the UKR-RL (radio-location) pod. The export version of the radar weighs 300 kg (661 lb.), works in X-band, and has a linear resolving power of 1-2 m (3-6 ft.). Another reconnaissance pod, the UKR-RT (radio-technical) houses the M410 signals-intelligence system produced by the TsNIRTI Institute of Moscow. A third pod in this series, the electro-optical UKR-OE, houses the Antrakt-TV camera (which features a resolving power of 50 cm/20 in. from 500-m altitude) and the M433 Raduga-VM linear infrared scanner. As well as the sensors, each pod houses a data storage and wideband data link for real-time transmission to a ground station.
Flight testing of the UKR pods on the Su-34 began in July 2013. In December 2014, the UKR-RT signals intelligence pod was the first to complete trials. In July 2015, the UKR-RL radar pod wrapped up flight trials and in 2016, the UKR-OE electro-optical pod followed. NII Kulon then began series production of the pods; company documents indicate this is being done on a piece-production basis.
Along with the reconnaissance version, but much more covertly, Russia is developing an electronic-warfare version of the Su-34.
For many years the Soviet Union (whose equivalent is now the Commonwealth of Independent States) had a strong fleet of specialized tactical and theater-level escort jammers on Yak-28 Brewer, Su-24 Fencer, Tu-16 Badger and Tu-22 Blinder platforms. All these aircraft were scrapped in the early 1990s and had no successors. The Su-27PP (Postanovshchik Pomech, jammer) with the Kavkaz (Caucasus) jamming suite was to be the successor, but as with the reconnaissance variant, this too did not progress.
Instead, Russia is enhancing the base Khibiny-10-volt electronic countermeasures suite (available on any Su-34) for escort jamming tasks by adding an underfuselage jamming pod with systems that have much more power and a broader frequency range than the basic suite.
The Su-34’s standard L175V Khibiny-10-volt self-defense suite manufactured by Knirti of Kaluga consists of a receiver that detects, classifies and determines the position of the target radar using a cigar-shaped pod at the port wingtip and a transmitter that emits the appropriate countermeasures in a pod at the starboard wingtip. The computer and control system are built into the fuselage. The system generates countermeasures in C-, X- and Ku-band (centimeter wavelength), on which the fighter aircraft radars and surface-to-air missile-guidance channels operate.
Three variants of additional pods for escort jamming are produced. Two of them, the L175VU-1 and -2, work in the same frequency ranges as the basic L175V and do not require a receiver; they are simply powerful transmitters. The third pod, L175VSh-1 works in S and L bands (decameter wavelength), used by airborne-early-warning-and-control aircraft and ground air-defense radars, and has both a receiver and transmitter. Deliveries of these pods to operational units started in late 2015.
These special updates to the Su-34 come amid the larger effort to produce and upgrade the platform. This month, Sukhoi’s production plant in Novosibirsk delivered another two Su-34s to the bomber aviation regiment in Chelyabinsk—the 120th and 121st aircraft of this type made since 1990, including test aircraft.
Su-34 production continues at a steady pace of 16-18 aircraft a year. Sixteen aircraft remain to be delivered. When the full order is completed in 2019, the Russian Air Force will have had nine operational squadrons of Su-34s.
Along with the implementation of the current contract, the military may order another batch of Fullbacks in an upgraded Su-34M variant. The Su-34M was developed under an R&D program code-named Sych (Russian for “little owl”) and was recently cleared for series production.
Most mission systems and avionics have been upgraded. The modernized K-102M targeting and navigation complex was equipped with an entirely new central computer, employing Russian-made processors of the Elbrus series in lieu of the previous four BTsVM-386 (Baget-53-31M) computers. In the upgraded Sh141M radar system, with V004M radar and K-030BM computer, automatic low-level flight, digital map and map-matching navigation have been introduced. In the upgrade process, the Russians are trying to replace foreign components, to which they have had limited access after 2014, with indigenous ones. However, many small electronic components are still foreign.
For the time being, replacement of the current AL-31F engines is not planned. Installation of more-powerful AL-41F1 or Izdeliye 30 engines, made for the Su-57 fighter, on the Su-34 is possible.
In addition, the Russians have been negotiating with Algeria to purchase the Su-32, an export variant of the Su-34, for 10 years, to no avail. Reports suggest that a large batch of about 40 Su-32 aircraft is being discussed.

Really not 122 in service
-In January 2 Su-34 of Khurba airbase crashed in the air ,
- A third was seriously damaged , including one engine. Thus could return to base , the airframe has been retired
-Four years ago one Su-34 of 47 BAP overturnerd at the end of runway when landing.
It was send to factory , supposedly to repair, but finally it seems retired and will be send to one researh company in Novosibirsk (SibNIA)
One airplane from Lípetsk was send to replace the airplane lost
-Also , 3 of the first batch contracted of 5 , in the Lípetsk airbase have been retired and send to other places for study and researsh in Moscow and Voronezh (Aeronautical Engenierring University)
Then, there are:
2 crashed
2 retired after damage
3 (at least) of first batch retired from VKS and gived to institutions
Then, of the 122 airplanes received for VKS , 7 are our of order.
Then, today there are 115 Su-34 in service
4 Akhtubinsk
7 Lípetsk
24 47 BAP
36 559 BAP
23 277 BAP
21 2 BAP
7 airplanes are pendng this year to complete contract of 92 signed in 2012

The modern Su-34 bombers will patrol the Northern Sea Route - for this purpose, a new squadron will be formed in the Northern Fleet.
Well this is a speculation of Izvestia by today
“Now there is one squadron of Su-24M bombers and another one — reconnaissance aircraft Su-24MR,” he told Izvestia.
The 98th Separate Mixed Aviation Regiment of the 45th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Northern Fleet, stationed in Monchegorsk, is likely to receive new vehicles, military expert Dmitry Boltenkov believes.
Well , just today that seems unlikely
And also it was said of other places:
https://bmpd.livejournal.com/3311581.html
The 120th mixed aviation regiment will receive Su-34 bombers in addition to Su-30SM fighter jets
https://altyn73.livejournal.com/1120806.html
So the 277th Bomber Air Regiment (Khurba airfield, Khabarovsk Territory) will receive in 2017 the final eight Su-34 bomber. Another eight Su-34 will go to some part. Will it be the 47th regiment or the new regiment in Shatalovo?
Shatalovo regiment for example already is using Su-34 from other regiment for training a new squadron (probably of Morozovsk)
Last year was started the upgrade to regiment then is likely to receive its own Su-34 soon . In the satellite there are 8 Su-34 last year
https://www.google.es/maps/@54.3327936,32.4820127,431m/data=!3m1!1e3
In, fact Monchegorsk is receiving now a fourth squadron , and they are MiG-31BM.
With 4 squadrons , the regiment will be split : one fighter regiment of 2 squadrons MiG-31BM and one composite squadron Su-24M + Su-24MR
However, could be posible Monchegorsk receive one squadron of Su-34 later.
In fact , was planned that Monchegosk received Su-34 in december of 2014 but this was cancel when was transferred to new Joint Strategic Command of North Fleet in that date
The planned Su-34 squadron for Monchegorsk was sent to Morozovsk , that have 3 squadros by that reason
The order of 124 airplanes for 10 squadrons was because VVS was 10 squadrons of Su-24M included Lípetsk and Monchegorsk in 2012
It seems thar North Fllet District is going to receive new and modernized airplanes now , once the others district are close to end the replacement of soviet airplanes
I think that North District will receive the family Su-35/30/34 as the other disticts to get a full operational Air Force Army as the other Armies
Then is reasonable that Monchegorsk receive one squadron of Su-34 at least to replace the Su-24M squadron
The Su-30SM , as is for a "Maritime Assault Regiment" , will go to Severomorsk, that in the past also had Su-24 (Monchegorsk until 2009 was ORAP= Separate Recconissance Air Regiment)
When Severomorsk reeived two Su-30SM it was said that in the future a regiment will be formed there
The question is not seems that Su-24MR will be replaced by Su-34 if only one squadron go to Monchegorsk, Shatalovo , Marinovka , Varfolomeyevka and other unit in Transbaikal (Domna in first momento , to form another new regiment later in a nearby place)

The modern Su-34 bombers will patrol the Northern Sea Route - for this purpose, a new squadron will be formed in the Northern Fleet.

An informed source tells Interfax that the MoD has signed a contract with Sukhoi fore development work on modernizing the VKS' fleet of Su-34. It is assumed this will involve receiving new munitions, more advanced avionics, and improved EW capabilities
The Su-34 is built by the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant, but it is expected to deliver the final 8 Su-34 this year under the current contract. There hasn't been any news regarding a new contract for the VKS, and NAZ hasn't received an export contract. 2/

Thread: an article about the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant (NAZ) says that its management has warned employees of wide-scale layoffs and salary reductions because "the state order is over.” Another sign that GPV-2027 will not be as generous as GPV-2020. 1/

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
They plan to receive soon contracts to modernise existing su-34 at NAZ
https://newsib.net/novosti/s-34-proizvodimyj-na-novosibirskom-aviacionnom-zavode-moderniziruyut.html
In addition Russia may order some additional airplanes, and/ or, there could be additional export orders.
Anyway, the plant is loaded for another year with the.existing order for.su-34, there is the time to sign additional contracts.
Afterall, I remember having read somewhere that Russia was planning to have around 200 su-34, at the moment they have around 130.
