What's their reasoning behind developing both Boomerang, and the Kamaz 63969?
They seem very similar. I doubt the Kamaz is amphibious, but what advantage does it have over Boomerang that warrants its service?

Ratnik combat gear
A local gunshop had a sale for a receiver cover with a top mounted rail system and a couple of set screws in the rear to make it rigid.
Can't really decide what I want to mount on it though... I am choosing between a simple red dot sight or a more powerful sight... perhaps a PSO-1 or one of the new 3-9 power PSO models.
Russian optics makers are putting out all sorts of new sights... I might wait till they release a scope with a laser range finder and ballistic computer for the 7.62 x 39mm calibre...
It doesn't have a flat trajectory so a good idea of range to target can be very important in getting a clean hit.

Anti-Sniper device
This equipment is mentioned in the 2004 edition of "Russias Arms".
It is called the 9F838 Tselik Platoon set of laser simulators of fire and manpower (target) hit.
It includes photos of large laser boxes under AK-74 rifles, plus Metis and RPK-74 LMGs and SVD sniper rifles. There are also laser emitters for disposable RPGs and RPG-7s.
It lists the fire kits as IS-1 and IS-2 for AKM and AK-74 rifles, IS-3, IS-4, and IS-6 for RPK, RPK-74 and SVD weapons respectively, while IS-5 is for SVD sniper rifles. IS-7,8,9 are RPG-7, -26, and 27 grenade launchers respectively while IS-10 is for Metis ATGMs.
I rather suspect that by now the kit will be smaller and lighter and use less power and be more multifunctional.

Re: Russian Ground Forces: News #1
The defence ministry is about to introduce its new armour, so armata, kurganets, boomerang, and typhoon are to be introduced into production, plus likely spending on new ships and subs and upgrading ships and subs... not to mention new kit for army, navy, air force, air defence forces, strategic missile forces...
They are also almost ready to put the new super soldier kit into service and likely do the final tests for the new AK12SN modular weapon system sometime soon.
Easy to spend that sort of money...

Defense: the new tank will surpass even promising Western counterparts
As part of development work under the names "Buttercup", "Blue" and "Armata", a new tank for the Russian army. In its combat characteristics and capabilities it will exceed both existing and newly developed more military equipment.
"The new tank, we create integral to their fighting qualities and capabilities will exceed all available today as well as those developments that we know are under way in the modern armies of the world," - Borisov said to journalists on Thursday.
The same, he said, can be said about the term aviation system, other types of weapons that are created for the Armed Forces.
The deputy minister said, when it comes to the completion of development work on the development of advanced models of armored vehicles, warships, aircraft, we can safely say that they are in performance, at least not inferior to those requirements that apply to similar Western models.
"And, at times, above, otherwise there is no point in developing them," - said Borisov. He noted that the name of the development work, in particular, "Buttercup", "Blue", "Armata" little to say ignorant person

Good news, but not many technical details. Hopefully we'll see some photos soon.
It's interesting that no other Army uses helicopter based jammers (that I'm aware of).

Like the Mi-9?
From what I have read they seem to be very effective and powerful.

I think this is actually a good thing because Russian government is becoming more efficient in finding corruption and controlling its assets. In that sense
title can be misleading as it is not corruption that is growing but efficiency of the government to detect and deal with it. I think in coming years
we might witness more of the same.
Corruption up 450% in a Year in Russian Military – Prosecutors

It also mentioned that private enterprises were a huge part of the whole corruption scandal, like the repair plants.
That would really show groups in USA and such that not all private business play it innocent.

If for instance I announce a bidding to repair 30 BMP-2 and several private owned companies apply who can equally well do the job. I can:
- take to lowest bid and phone that company director and said that in order to accept his bid he must take 5% of the money and give it to my secretary
(who is my mistress too ) - that is something happening regularly and not so much of a corruption because BMP will still be modernized by lowest bidder
- always choose one and the same company to do every thing that needs to be done (company director is my cousin and gives me 30% of every work I arrange
for him) because everybody knows he is the cheapest and the best (and he is neither) - now this is dangerous and corruption in the real sense.

Vladimir Putin: Software Development missile forces, air force, navy, communications and intelligence will be realized
http://www.itar-tass.com/c134/805887.html
http://www.itar-tass.com/c134/805887.html
Prokhorivka / Belgorod /, July 12. / ITAR-TASS /. Russian President Vladimir Putin has no doubt that the development program of missile forces, air force, navy, communications and intelligence will be realized. He said this at a meeting with veterans of the Great Patriotic War - members of the Battle of Kursk.
"We will implement programs related to the development of missile technology, aircraft, navy, communications and intelligence, - said the head of state. - For each component, we spelled out a separate program. No reason to doubt that it will be accomplished."
Putin said that the 2020 program will be implemented modernization and development of the armed forces. "The money is already allocated huge - up to 20 trillion rubles in 2020 and nearly $ 3 trillion - to retool defense industry, which should produce a new technique on the new equipment," - said the head of state. According to him, there are small adjustments related to the willingness of industry, but in general, the program will be developed and will be done.
The President also noted that the main direction of development of weapons in modern terms - is the development of high-precision, powerful, modern weapons, which his fighting qualities will not yield weapons of mass destruction.
"Of course, we will develop and nuclear deterrent force," - said the head of state, responding to a question members of the Kursk battle Victor Zavgorodnev.
Antimech
Question veteran, addressed to the Minister of Defence, Army General Sergei Shoigu, to equip the Russian army with modern antitank weapons.
"Now a lot of attention paid to the re-equipment of the Russian armed forces - said Shoigu. - By 2020, we have completed the first stage of the program of modernization, so that we had over 70% of modern weapons, and in some genera and species of troops this figure should reach 90%, "- said the Minister.
"To answer your question about the anti-tank weapons: the life of the tank in modern warfare is very short due to the fact that over the last 70 years there have been many modern anti-tank weapons. Today, there are facilities that burn any armor" - said Shoigu.
According to him, "Now there are guided missiles, anti-tank guided missile system of weapons."
According to the minister, "today the Russian army is equipped well enough, as evidenced by our series of exercises with live fire."
Defense Minister added the president. "Our anti-money - they have proven themselves in local conflicts in different parts of the world. On the world market, they are considered as one of the best, and we will actively improve them," - said the head of state.

Russia’s Snap Military Drills Expand – Defense Minister
MOSCOW, July 13 (RIA Novosti) Russia’s defense minister on Saturday said that up to 160,000 servicemen are involved in the large-scale exercises in the Eastern Military District, double the number initially reported.
“The total number of servicemen involved in the snap drills was up to 81,000 last night, the figure this morning was up to 160,000 servicemen,” Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
The exercises also involve about 1,000 tanks and armored vehicles, 130 aircraft and 70 warships from the Pacific Fleet, Shoigu confirmed. These latter figures remain unchanged.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the snap drills Friday evening. It is the third surprise combat readiness check since January and follows a major shake-up at the top of a military establishment tarnished by persistent evidence of rampant corruption.
Russian servicemen in the Eastern Military District told Russian media they had anticipated they would face this kind of test as similar drills have already been carried out in the neighboring military districts.
The Eastern Military District is one of the four operational strategic commands of the Russian Armed Forces. The district was formed in 2010. It absorbed the territories of the former Far East Military District and part of the former Siberian Military District with headquarters at Khabarovsk.
