"Over 30 people will learn the operating procedure and combat use of the new weapons systems. The conversion course will take 2 months. After the first stream, another group of military personnel from the same regiment will start the course," Capt. 1st Rank Roman Martov said.

During the training course, experts will examine the configuration of new weapons, the rules of their operation in various climatic conditions, including the Far North, maintenance and repair of the new anti-aircraft missile systems.

"The Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes will be deployed to protect the borders of north-eastern Russia together with battalions of S-400 Triumf [missile defense systems]," the spokesman added.

The Pantsir-S (SA-22 Greyhound) is a Russian short-to-medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system, which first entered service in 2012 and will gradually replace the Tunguska self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon.

Russia is currently undergoing a $325-billion rearmament program to modernize 70-percent of its military's weaponry by 2020.

Why they wouldnt be able to? BAZ 69092 is more than capable for that.

True. But Pantsir is made by KBP from Tula, a competitor to Almaz-Antei, so there is a better chance to see Tor-M2KM on BAZ than Pantsir. On the other hand it also depend on customer. If VKO is OK with Pantsir on Kamaz truck, than no need to change it.

Kamaz chassis is technologically behind BAZ, center of gravity is awful high, bad stability when firing. Off-road capability is also crap compared to a comparable BAZ offering.

Kamaz makes some decent (cheap) stuff, but they have tried to barge their way into providing trucks for every branch of the armed forces, even when their their offerings are inadequate or need years of work to catch up to other offerings. Why? Management has good ties to people in the right places.

And what, I pray ask, is your sources for such a claim?

Comparing Pantsir on BAZ and Kamaz chassis is looks like either BAZ is fairly small vehicle or Kamaz is really big beast.

And MZKT, MAZ make better trucks than BAZ - but they're Belarussian and so for some reason that means that we have to weave off them

Russia has deployed the new version of the Pantsyr air defence system to its Humaymim airbase in Syria, footage broadcast by the RT news channel on 3 February has confirmed.

Russia has had at least one Pantsyr-S1 at Humaymim since 3 October 2015, when its Ministry of Defence released a photograph showing one in the background.

The RT footage showed a second system with the new bidirectional radar now deployed at the base. This also appears to be the first time the new Pantsyr version has been seen in Russian service.

RT identified the system as a Pantsyr-S2: a new version the Russian military said it would take into service in 2015.

The version with the bidirectional radar has already been delivered to both Algeria and Iraq and was labelled as a Pantsyr-S1 when it was displayed at the MAKS show held in Russia in August 2015.

One of its selling points is that a pair can be set up with their radars orientated in opposing directions so that they can together provide 360 o target scanning coverage. However, the radar on the system seen in the footage was rotating, suggesting it is not working with a second system with the same radar.

The Pantsyr systems at Humaymim support the long-range S-400 Triumph system that Russia has deployed, there by providing close-in defence against cruise missiles and other forms of precision-guided munitions.

As yet, there has been no confirmation that the S-400 has been deployed with the new 40N6 long-range missile.
