It seems poor fit and finish didn't effect actual performance at all.
The sad thing was that if NATO hadn't gotten that shock... a veritable kick in the nuts, when they went in an murdered Serbs over Kosovo they likely would have gotten a surprise and use all the wrong tactics even against badly maintained not fully functional MiGs.
Regarding the ships... don't waste time with aesthetics... just get the damn things built...
