Re: Russia - Algeria military contracts
Prospects for military-technical cooperation between Russia and Algeria
It is reported that currently underway are contracts for the modernization of about 360 infantry fighting vehicles BMP-1 (option to BMP-2M), the supply of 200 T-90SA, 38 anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes "Pantsyr-S1".
February 20, according to the agency "Interfax-AVN", "Rostvertol" has shipped the last heavy Mi-26T2 of six, under the contract of 2013. Until the end of 2017 the Algerian military personnel should receive eight cars - such agreement was signed in 2015.
This year, Algeria will be delivered Mi-28NE, and several battalions of air defense systems "Buk-M2E" under the contract of 2013. Last year, Algeria also signed a contract to supply 14 Su-30MKA worth at least $ 1 billion - fully deal should be closed in 2017.
In addition, according to the source "b" in the field of arms exports, in 2016 the parties will continue negotiations on the purchase of Algeria a few battalions of anti-aircraft missile systems S-300VM ( "Antey-2500") and the acquisition of two military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A (in case of signing the contract in 2016, Algeria will have to get two aircraft already in 2017). Negotiations are under way on the Sukhoi Su-34 - in 2016 the parties will sign a contract for 12 Sukhoi Su-32 (export version of the Su-34): interest in the machines of this type the Algerian military showed still about eight years ago, but after their participation military and air operation in Syria finally decided to buy.
Note bmpd. According to our blog in the near future of the Algerian delegation will really be demonstrated in flight one of two Il-76MD-90A initial batch passed in FSI Russia. According to the results of demonstration flights Algerian side will take the decision to purchase. Apparently, it will continue to demonstration flights started in January fighter Su-35S, as our blog has already reported.

Re: Russia - Algeria military contracts
According to the source "b" in the aviation industry, in addition to Indonesia,Vietnam and Algeria are also interested by this type of aircraft. last February, one of the Su-35 was tested at Tamanrasset. According to "Kommersant", the Algerian military were satisfied with the jet-fighter flight characteristics, and now Moscow is waiting for a formal application, It is expected that the first phase will focus on the acquisition of at least 12 aircrafts.
I guess there is an option on another batch of twelve aircrafts.

Russia to supply Algeria 40 Mi-28NE "Night Hunter"
Moscow. 18th of March. INTERFAX.RU - Algeria became the first foreign buyer of Russian Mi-28N "Night Hunter" dual-control, said on Friday "Interfax" a source in the structures involved in arms exports.
"The contract for the supply of 40 vehicles of this type was signed," - the source said, without specifying the date of the transaction.
According to him, "Night Hunter" dual-control was developed "at the request of the customer."
As previously reported in the press-service of "Helicopters of Russia", "new helicopter is different from the usual Mi-28NE presence of double piloting system that allows to control the machine from both the cockpit and the cabin of the pilot-operator."
The program of modernization of the Mi-28NE at the Mi-28NE version with dual control has been implemented, "Rostvertol" together with the Moscow Helicopter Plant Mil. In 2014 he was made a prototype of the Mi-28NE with dual controls. At the end of 2015 resulted in the state joint tests.
Among the most significant advantages of the Mi-28NE with dual controls - high flexibility, the possibility of the clock application, high firepower, increased survivability.
In the "Rosoboronexport" traditionally does not comment on contracts concluded on military-technical cooperation with Algeria.

Re: Russia - Algeria military contracts
Some more snippets from behind the scenes, first order for Su-34 might be for 12 with an option for 6-12 more, and they are also interested in 10 (additional? does that mean that the previously mentioned possible order for 12 is a separate one?) Su-35S, this in addition to the 40 plus Mi-28 helicopters, additional 8 Mi-26T2, 14 Su-30SME and countless other top of the line gear on order or said to be in the pipeline mnetioned previously, like T-90s (maybe MS?), Buk-M2s, the two Il-476s, the Tigr corvettes building in Russia etc. etc. More power to them!

Algeria to deploy 304 Russian BMP-2M fitted with Berezhok combat module
Here: http://www.armyrecognition.com/april_2016_global_defense_security_news_industry/algeria_to_deploy_304_russian_bmp-2m_fitted_with_berezhok_combat_module_31404162.html
Here: http://www.armyrecognition.com/april_2016_global_defense_security_news_industry/algeria_to_deploy_304_russian_bmp-2m_fitted_with_berezhok_combat_module_31404162.html
Algeria has deployed 304 Russian BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) equipped with Berezhok manned combat module, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies` (IISS) report.
All 304 BMP-2 vehicles have received four ready-to-launch 9M133 Kornet-E (NATO reporting name: AT-14 Spriggan) anti-tank guided missiles. Approximately 685 non-upgraded BMP-1 have been issued to the unit and bodies of Land Forces. According to a Russian defense industry source, all Algerian BMP-1 IFVs are going to be upgraded to BMP-2M standart. As the IISS` specialists pointed out, Algeria has received 100 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles but there is no official confirmation of such information.
B05Ya01 Berezhok manned turret developed by Tula-based KBP company (a subsidiary of the High-Precision Weapons holding) is the latest upgrade of the basic BMP-2`s combat module. It incorporates 30mm 2A42 automatic gun as a main weapon with coaxial 7.62mm PKT/PKTM machinegun. B05Ya01 is equipped with anti-tank guided missiles, namely, four ready-to-launch 9M133 Kornet-E ATGMs.
The module has also received 30mm AG-30 automatic grenade launcher (AGL) and six 902B Tucha smoke grenade launchers. 2A42 gun can fire armor-piercing and high-explosive shells, being able to destroy targets at the distances up to 2000 m and 4000 m, respectively.
The gun has ammunition load of 500 shells. AG-30 AGL can fire three types of grenades, namely, VOG-17M, VOG-30, GPD-30, being able to destroy personnel targets at the distances up to 1700-2100 m. Berezhok can fire five types of Kornet munitions, namely anti-tank tandem-warhead 9M133-1/9M133-2 and anti-personnel thermobaric 9M133F-1/9M133F-2/9M133F-3 missiles. Kornet -E ATGMs can penetrate 1000-1300mm armour behind explosive reactive armour (ERA), being able to eliminate targets at the distances up to 5500 m.
B05Ya01 is equipped with independent sights of commander and gunner, allowing them to work in 'hunter-killer' mode. The gunner`s sight has four channels: optical, thermal imaging, laser rangefinder and ATGM control channel. The commander has received panoramic sight with laser rangefinder and television channel. Berezhok can be installed on either BMP-1 or BMP-2 IFVs.
It should be noted, the Algeria is one of the biggest Kornet-E (E stands for Export Modification, Ekspornty) ATGM operator in the world. The country has deployed 64 upgraded BRDM-2M self-propelled anti-tank guided missile (SPATGM) systems armed with Kornet-Es.
According to the IISS` report, Algerian Land Forces have also deployed about 300 Russian T-90SA (A stands for Algerian, Alzhirsky) main battle tanks (MBT) and 150 BTR-80 armoured personnel carriers (APC).

Re: Russia - Algeria military contracts
Not sure how you can say that as the small ball turret is not pointing forward so you can't see whether it has two optical ports or more.
I am really looking forward to seeing the optronic arrangement of the new Mi-28MN...
If they are spending money on the radar then I suspect they will want the best Optronics too... hell this order might be paying for the development of that area of the system... wouldn't be the first time a more demanding foreign customer resulted in a better system for domestic use (ie Pantsir-S1).

Either hovering practise/lots of landing practise... which is what trainers are for, or perhaps test firing rocket pods on the inner wing pylons... which would also be what this helo would be used for.

Thank you GarryB. You reassure me.
In addition, the camo "desert" light shade also played a role for highlighting trace of smoke in the back of Mi28NE-UB.
