Victor this was a hit on the one T-72 without fuel or ammo or any combustible stores....i seem to recall a Nato wargame where accidentally the target centurions were refueled and lve fired upon -brewed up 1000m plumes of flame.its armoured warfare..its part of the game.
They probably have a huge number of near time expired missiles they have to use... and using them for training makes a lot more sense than spending money recycling or destroying them.
For realistic training a mass attack exercise makes rather more sense that one or two drone targets.

Huh! I am counting:
2 in Moscow 1 in Kaliningrad 1 in far East Also possibly 1 in Ashuluk
Where are the rest?
2 regiments around Moscow 1 regiment in Kaliningrad 1 regiment in Far East 1 regiment in Souther District
We can expect 2 more regiments being deployed during this year. First one in a coming months and second one more towards the end of the
current year.

I agree. Many older S-300PS/PT systems are being retired and all of them must be retired by 2015.
Only newer versions which are the ones who are receiving modernization will be kept until 2020 and later.

Here are some data I have managed to find about Russian air defense exercise.
Year: 1982
Subject tested: S-300P
Exercise prepared by: 2nd Research Institute Ministry of Defense
Goal 1: March to an unprepared location (these marches are never under 500 km )
Goal 2: Destroy 38 targets within 5 minutes that can appear at any time which of course is not known to defenders. Missiles will enter
defended zone at in advance prepared schedule not known to PVO troopers. Target missiles include all sorts of targets
from the ones like KPM (900 m/s at 23 km altitude to the targets performing manoeuvres and some others flying slow and close to
the ground.
Goal 3: All missions goals must be accomplished under the heavy ECM for which purpose has been assembled 94 planes and helicopters.
Here is diagram height - time with the scheduled targets entering defended area.
All exercise are performed under heavy jamming conditions - not just this one.
Ultimate videos man.. made my day today.. lot of office work.. Thanks Victor.. My 2 cents.. on this only 30-40 % of launches are S-300.. my estimate..
There are all sorts of drones (missile, booster etc mode being tested) , S-200 missiles and target drones are also fired by the launchers..
I think the AShuluk video was not S-300 .. but that is my take.. the smoke was too blackish.. and some modified S-200 and other drones were being tested may be inlcuding..intercept drones.. That homes the point that exercises have become more and more complex..
The last video of 7-8 missiles was S-300 (but that is my take only).. great videos though ..
