The ladz on the Big K will probably have a few wee drinkies now that the wicked witch of the West is dead. politically speaking. The imminent collapse of Neoliberal Uh'murikkkan support for the goat fondlers will only make their task easier, and more enjoyable.

It's like a big weight has been lifted off of me. I would almost have welcomed WW3 rather than 4 years min. of that damn voice and cackle. Cheers, we really dodged one there!

Also as guys on Serbian My City forum noticed, seems Kuz crew is repainting the deck....for...reasons.
I originally thought they washed deck on that refueling shot so it shines, however it was the paintjob...

I'm wondering if it might be a hot climate related thing? Notable that its only on the forward sections of the deck, maybe lower drag on the wheels?

Doubtful as they still painting, as you see how much it advanced compared to few days ago. And grip is important, more grip-drag the better actually.

Just want to point out, technically it's Pete's fleet, as it is Northern fleet's flagship.

Heh, interesting point
Whole thing is kinda weird as I'd have thought if it was needed they would have repainted the deck during the refit it had earlier in the year
Well I'm thinking on launch & if you miss the arrestors you'd want to minimise the rolling drag to improve acceleration especially if the engines aren't producing as much thrust due to warmer air.Doubtful as they still painting, as you see how much it advanced compared to few days ago. And grip is important, more grip-drag the better actually.

Further proof that this deployment was last minute decision in order to take advantage of this situation and use this opportunity to send this ship to get some milage in actual war and gather data for new ship designs.
After this deployment it will definitely be a while until Kuz hits the seas again. That refit will take a while. Hopefully they will get those details ironed out this time.

With the Russian Syrian naval flotilla having arrived off the coast of Syria, and set to launch airborne missions against ISIS targets in Syria with the support of strategic Russian Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers, an unexpected twist took place when a Russian fighter jet crashed in the Mediterranean Sea shortly after launching from its aircraft carrier near the coast of Syria Sunday, Fox News reports citing two US officials.
While unclear if they were part of a tactical mission or conducting an exercise, shortly after three Russian MiG-29 fighter jets took off from their Soviet-era aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov, and flew in the direction of Syria, one of the Russian jets appeared to have mechanical difficulties and turned around in the direction of the aircraft carrier. The Russian jet then allegedly splashed down in the water while attempting to land. A Russian rescue helicopter picked up a parachute and the pilot. The pilot's status was unclear, U.S. intelligence officials said.

Seeing this in multiple news outlets:

Status of the pilot is unknown, though he's presumably alive.
