Agree, a strike like that would have sent smoke plumes up visible for miles. Also, to hit that number of aircraft would mean that they had not been dispersed, but were on the apron and surely the Saudis, even given the vast size of the base (check it out on Google Earth), would not have been that stupid? On the other hand it seems to be 60 or so km from the Yemini border.OminousSpudd wrote:JohninMK wrote:I have no idea if these two reports from the last few hours are correct, as you can see its from Fars. TEHRAN (FNA) – The Yemeni army and popular forces hit a strategic military air base in Asir province in Southern Saudi Arabia with Scud missiles, killing tens of high-ranking Saudi officers and commanders and destroying over two dozen F-15 fighter jets and Apache helicopters.
At least 66 high-ranking Saudi army officers, including two senior commanders, were killed when the Yemeni missiles hit Khamis Mushait air base in Asir province in retaliation for the kingdom’s aggression against their nation. The Yemeni forces also destroyed 17 F-15 fighter planes and 9 Apache helicopters. About 300 Saudi officers were also injured in the Yemeni missile attack on Khamis Mushait air base.
On Thursday, Yemen’s army fired a Scud missile at Khalid bin Abdulaziz air base in Asir province.
TEHRAN (FNA)- Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Sharaf Qaleb Luqman disclosed that a large depot of weapons sent by Israel for Saudi Arabia has been destroyed in the Friday Scud missile attacks on Khamis Mushait air base.
Those numbers sound way too damn high for there not to be video evidence.

How they confirm the losses? Satellite pictures? It is possible if Yemen launch larger number of scud missiles and if those scuds have cluster munition inside to cover larger area. This could also mean good timing, that missiles hit air base in the time, when Saudis are getting ready for take off for a combat mission. Hitting fully loaded F-15E could destroy a lot around it.

It is better for Saudi Arabia to be bogged down in Yemen. This way Saudi Arabia cannot effectively support anti Russia forces in Syria.

Sudan is very vulnerable, a war can easily start there, they should stay out of this, by doing this they are likely pissing off Iran.

Provide Yemen with Scuds that will render Saudis Patriots useless even with 40% hprob they will lose more then Scuds cost or could be provided and deployed.
If previous attack had anything to account for, if what we know is true, the Hit probability is apparently lower than 40% on SCUDS.

Note that the video carefully cuts from the time the munitions were a few hundred meters up to some unexploded on the ground, so I assume they missed the village (if that was the target) and hit the hillside.Militarov wrote:

What if Russia delivers Kornet and MANPADS to the Houthis. I wonder what Saudis will say, they do the same in Syria ruining many life's and a country. It should be done as they're still sending their ATGW to Syria through Turkey. It'll put Saudi in a very hard position, they'll have to agree to Russia's demands.

Actually some reports say they are using Jordan too as supply route. Certain Croatian equipment came via Jordan, naturally paid by Saudis.

First there is a need to asses what the Saudis will do. So far it has proven to be more of the same. But the moment a VKS plane falls due to Manpads which is ID'd as Ukropistani or Croatian, 2 things happen. Ukraine recieves cold shower this winter. Yemen declares NovoHouthia republic and long lost orthodox sect makes declaration of independence. And Yemeni express starts. Seeing how daft the Saudis are, more ATGM's and heavier systems (OSA, Tor) can be interesting after all YA has had both and can use them out of the box.
Yeah, Abdullah Mohamadovich Salehvski, new Yemeni President.

Saudis recently started having economic problems on their own and if they decide to escalate things, they gonna go on a rough shape.
