It seems Arabs more trust AK than anything else in the desert.

Saudis have no clue, whatsoever how army should be equiped, in terms of organisation and logistics i mean. They are buying whatever ends up under their hands, there was photo on some forum with 5 different ATGMs in one spot fielded by Saudis in one unit basically: TOW, Javelin, BIL2, Dragon and Vickers Vigilant.
Assault/combat rifles they use in quantities: G3A4, M16A2, M4A1, Steyr AUG + AUG A1 HBAR, AK103, G36 + G36C, SIG550 (few variations i guess)...3 types of submachine guns, 3 pistols...
Is it so hard to pick one rifle for Army, one for Special purpose units, buy different variants of same rifle if needed like Russians and US do, but this grabbing from everywhere must be Hell on earth for logistics, they have to deliver 4-5 types of ammunition to frontline just for infantry main armaments.

Politics and some dose of megalomania i belive. After all F15 orders are done they will have like 250 in total of all variants... Meanwhile US operates more or less same that amount.

I think that you might be misunderstanding the function of the Saudi military. It was never intended that it would actually fight anyone, just to look big and powerful to all the surrounding lesser states. As such minor logistic issues like those mentioned just did not matter, as long as there was enough of one type to equip everyone on a parade ground with the same type, job done.Militarov wrote:KoTeMoRe wrote:Militarov wrote:

No, the real function is first to provide well paying, with good benefits, jobs for members of the ruling clan and second, perhaps more important, to provide a supply of 'commission' to members of the ruling clan.
Also it falls into the 'buy American gear' part of their side of the deal agreed and subsequently upgraded, between President Roosevelt and King Ibn Saud when they met aboard the USS Quincy in 1945.

Nothing new, too much money, too little opposition, they manage their kingdom like the MGM Mirage.

Buying weapons buys you favours, every single piece of equipment that has some type of foreign input is there because it was used to bribe someone somewhere for something.Militarov wrote:Politics and some dose of megalomania i belive. After such a variety of assault/combat rifles, the picture of Saudi soldiers with Russian AK 103s might sound like provocation.Militarov wrote:KoTeMoRe wrote:Militarov wrote:

So Konkurs doesn't seem to have a problem destroying Abrams...assuming it is Konkurs being fired on the video

Have had this discussion with Were here, if you hit a slant at the rear quarter, the warhead penetrates both armored bustle and combat compartment= Flame grilled abramists.Cyberspec wrote:max steel wrote: This video might help even more

Re: Yemeni Conflict: News
That is the exact location where you have to AIM your RPG/ATGM or any sort of AT weapon to gril Abrams and crew with good kprob for tank and crew.
Where the 2nd "rib" if that little cage is. To enhance the chance of cook off of amunition and door penetration it would be advantagous to shoot from little bit front to rear against that very same 2nd "rib" so door gets penetrated/blown apart and HEAT penetrator ignities ammunition. They are a weak point factually and will not and physically can not prevent death of occupants when tanks are using HE-Frag rounds. Propellants are burning far slower while explosive filler in HE-Frag grenades has very high brisance and will burn so fast that even when the casing/shell is broken, that and the entire turret will just explode in a big quick boom. The americans mianly use only KE rounds in their armament and barely antything else and all their HEAT/HEDP rounds contain relative low amount of HE filler but still enough to make a crew roast, but they rarley have them loaded.
