Resorting to using standoff weapons to avoid entering the effective envelope of the BUK can be considered a success. What they need is the upper layer SAM... the S-350 or S-400 to get the launch platforms before they launch.

This a bit off-topic, but this is key to understand the 'zero-sum game' nihilist mentality that drives Neo-Con politics (such as the Ukraine crisis)...here's a top Neo-Con think-tanker who "Thanks God for ISIS", and why ISIS is needed to 'save the military'...

Yeah, cause we shouldn't care about thousands of foreigners getting slaughtered... we should be worrying that lucrative jobs in the defence sector might not be available to military personnel when they retire and they might have to live on the pension the US military gives them...
Perhaps they will hit the jackpot and aliens will invade and try to wipe out the human race.
They will of course attack the US as the most sophisticated and dominant country on the planet first...
Of course what they will really be hoping for is a major asteroid hit somewhere in Europe or Asia that wipes out most of their competition leaving vast swathes of territory depopulated so they can go in and take over resources that rightfully belong to the most dominant country on the planet.

what an idiot politician. And fighting ISIS will help military in it's problems? In my opinion US military has to stay out of larger conflicts for 10 years or so and sort their problems. Society can't support war for so long too.
ISIS have to be dealt with but by their puppets. US should greenlight Russian Iraq military deals, hell even finance them.

Yes. I heard their F-15's stayed away of the Buk envelope.
The israelis can twist the story.. by saying the BUks were "jammed" .
what they don't say is the range of the Buk/pechora defenses vs the range of popeye missiles.
israel fire their missiles from 80km away. thats how they "jammed" the buks.. firing from lebanon airspace and flying away. Apparently Syria have S-200s and S-300s but they are not authorized to use them until a full scale war happens with Israel or other bordering nations.
and Now more on topic..
Take a look at the level of hostilities that exist ,since the ukraine conflict began. NATO harassing unarmed Russian combat jets flying in legitimate international airspace.
What you see there is US colonies in europe provoking Russia when flying over international aispace. they were very close to the plane.. My take is they want to provoke russia into an attack at their planes. so later they will use their media to talk about "Russian aggression to Europe".
How dare Russia use international air space to fly to kalingrad. NATO wants Russia to travel on foot or civilians planes to their territory it seems. on more news the European Union condemned Kiev new law ,that have been used to start a witch hunting of any former politician that was friendly to Russia.

Thats because the ukraine conflict have nothing to do with US sanctions. thats why..
The US elite ,main goal in ukraine was sabotage Russia economy.. they could care less
about Ukrainians. Because Russia pipelines runs through Ukraine , it was their intention to provoke a
war between Russia and Ukraine and later pressure/blackmail europe to isolate Russia.
Before Ukraine conflict the tensions were also high on Syria.. and before Syria the tensions were high on Lybia.. and before Lybia the tensions were high on US planned war with IRAN.. SImply US gov want to split Russia in parts..
and they will continue creating world conflicts that damage Russia interest..and serbia too.. Lets not forget how US politicians wanted to Boycott Sochi, miss universe 2013 ,because Russian anti gay law...they also wanted to boycot world cup 2018 but this time because of Blags.. and they will find any excuse to sabotage Russia. They also did every thing possible to sabotage Sochi olympics .

Hate to say it, but Putin should just come out and say that up until now the Russian support for the eastern areas of the Ukraine has been humanitarian... food and blankets etc, but if NATO is going to arm the illegitmate government in Kiev and impose sanctions on Russia for interfering then Russia will interfere and arm the rebels properly.

Russia is just sending 'humanitarian aid' to eastern Ukraine ?
Russia is already supplying the separatists with weapons....
If Russia doesn't,Where are they getting all of these weapons from?
BTR-82As,T72B3s,MSTA-Ss etc...

If I was in Putin's shoes, that would be the next step I would take. I'd make sure to use terms and phrases like "vetted", "blood thirsty regime", and "force (...) to the negotiating table." often during the announcement. Maybe throw in a few "red lines" for good measure.

Nice gloating. Nice, but ultimately misplaced.
US's corrupt Congress is driving their nation right into the ground. One only has to see the 'resolution' they made
The bill, which will be sent to Obama to sign, requires him to apply sanctions on Russian state-owned arms exporter Rosoboronexport and other defense companies Congress says contribute to instability in Ukraine, Georgia and Syria.
Instability in 'Ukraine, Georgia and Syria'.
Really?
So who are the forces for stability there then? Ultranationalist Banderovites, ISIS & the tie-eater?
Unfortunately the American leadership has deluded itself against the backdrop of its own hubris and inability to perceive themselves capable of any wrongdoing, much less taking responsibility for their own destructive actions over the last years in the world.
They ain't going to get very far against Russia. This is a very powerful, independent country that won't take orders from anyone when it comes to its own vital interests and borders.

What I don't like with Putin is what I don;t like in Russia's foreign policy for a century now. It is way too complicated, indirect and mystified.
