Re: Your favorite music
I was less impressed with that one than some of their other stuff. I thought Surtur Rising was far more amusing. Their cover version of Balls to the Wall on Surtur Rising is ridiculous.
To me, Surter Rising had a lot of good songs, but not many great songs, if that makes any sense.

[this is perhaps my all-time favorite "pop" as in a song other than classical, Wagner, Carl Orff, etc]

Re: Your favorite music
Georgia in my mind, James Tayler.
That song about clouds (ie I've looked at clouds from both sides now...")
Got to agree with BTRfan on Stevie Wonder, and I do like 80s music... Scandal, "The Warrior", Chicago, almost anything Steve Perry sang, TOTO, Simon and Garfunkle, Bread... Guitar Man, George Benson, Michael Jackson... lots of different stuff... Heart, Kim Carnes, even a bit of Roger Whittaker.
Speaking of Scandal...
check these two out:

Same song... but the point is that back then they could sing live and not sound like crap... unlike some current talent.

Re: Your favorite music
I also really like Russian military/patriotic songs and the German and Italian ones as well.
Farewell of Slavianka and Katyusha are very lovely songs [at least by my opinion].
My favorite Italian patriotic/military song is Giovinezza.

Most of the music that was on the 1980s hit series Miami Vice is solid music. They had what was at the time the latest and greatest. It isn't the latest but a lot of it is still the greatest.
Think about music...
In 50 years nobody is going to care about Justin Beiber, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, or any of those people who have a computer do the work for them... People are still going to talk about Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, etc...
Even in 200 years people are still going to clamor for tickets to Wagnerian Opera, they will still listen to Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach... Nobody is going to know who Justin Beiber was in 200 years, he'll be a footnote in the history of pop culture.
Most of the music that has come out in the last 20 years has been lame and weak... All of it is digitally put together in a studio which is why most performers sound like a totally different person when they are live.
Back in the days of Johnny Cash it was about how well you played the guitar and how skilled you were with your vocals, there wasn't a computer digitizing sound board to bail you out.

A work colleague of mine told me the other day that her young daughter described "One Direction" as being bigger than the Beetles!

Exactly.
When they are the victim it is theft of intellectual property rights, when they do it... it is called "influence".

I find their lyrics to be vulgar and I cannot think of much music from Germany in the last 30 years worth listening to.
I'll take Wagner and Carl Orff over any of the modern German music, any day.
What is Wargame European Escalation?

it's good, I only hate their infantry model. They die too fast, they fight stupid. Re: Your favorite music
Pfft.
This is all anyone ever needs. Just have this playing in the background, and you wont have a care in the world. Makes everything better.
Love Rammstein. Du Hast and Mein Teil are my favorite of theirs.
I too play(ed) Wargame: EE. I quit after spending two weeks on that mission where you have to evacuate as many units as possible. I had too many units unlocked, and it was impossible to save 75% of them.

That's why I love Russian language. There is no language in the world that has such swear words like Russian
