Is this just a commercial upgrade kit similar to what many in the FSB are now using or is meant for the military?alexZam wrote:AK-74m+ upgrade kit.
By the way, thanks to all for the fantastic pictures! Was there any flyby from the PAK-FA (I can't seem to find any)?

no prob. welcome guys. just copy-pasting. nothing more.Ivan the Colorado wrote:alexZam wrote:AK-74m+ upgrade kit.

this kit might be introduced into service soon. For "srochniki", you know. They need to develop some skills of handling more modern toys. Collimators, better ergonomics. Just get that new feel of mechanical memory into their body system. Imho, no much need AK-12s for srochniki yet. New AKs & all whistles and blows of Ratnik will go to airborne troopers, GRUs, army recons, Kantemirovci and similar. South military district, Caucasus region for sure. Then to all contract-based, highly prepared army units and marines. And only then it will be introduced to all srochniki on Far East and etc. Not soon, en masse No real need
AK74ms is still a good and capable, just less accurate - true - modern times require a bit more already. This inexpensive upgrade will do the trick for a gen pop.
No PAK-FAs for V-day. Berkut is right, birds seem to be grounded. I have a feeling that they forcing a qa and all flytests. 1 or 2 out those few airframes built were used and abused deliberately and specifically to catch those child's diseases earlier. a bit unsafe, but efficient. they don't follow usual protocol per se. I work in qa myself, I break stuff other people created and trying to understand why system failed.usually there are a lot of unforseen situation and I have to fantasize about a lot of unbelievable shit to happen to the system, and pass my analysis and results back to R&D, back to the drawing boards. however, its impossible to predict and test everything. When it comes to war machines, best way is to test it in combat enviroment (see what they flying in Syria/Iraq nowdays sometimes, or SU-35 in Ossetia 8/8/8 a good example too, additionally a good PR too - I'm sure they show some recorded POV videos from cockpit from that su-35 to potential buyers, some successful fight log missions for sure back from 2008 war conflict. It probably won't be unclassified soon, if ever, for ethical reasons and such, only for trusted military experts of potential buyer eyes only).
so no PAK-FA. Not much of PR or other benefits for Sukhoi, just people probably a bit frustrated not seeing them making that symbolically flyby. But there are enough of new toys this year. All that Sukhoi need now is furious testing, and time, time, time. Although its almost impossible to speedup testing. Unless you are willing to risk and force a bit more rugged and obusive qa. Comparing an "obused" platform to platform use in normal mode is usually helps a lot. To me at least. Looks like they find a critical fail and narrowed it down to specific subsystem. so they excitedly disassembling and comparing abused vs normal. Then it comes to new systems - it always better to find a glitch sooner or later (or never). The more they find and faster they act the faster they get to patches and fixes. Routine. Any complex system require multiple rinse and repeat dribble. However, in the light of some certain political events, I think it would be wise to keep 1 airframe in combat-ready state. That would be a best PR, even if pakfa would do some pro-forma aftermath missions, that would counts greatly any way.
