Russian Shipyard to Construct Two Project 20380 Corvettes
The latest Retivy and Strogy corvettes (Project 20380) will be laid down at the St. Petersburg-based Severnaya Verf shipyard on February 20. This was announced by Igor Ivanovsky, a spokesman for the shipyard.
The ships of this class have unique tactical and technical characteristics and combat capabilities. Their main advantages include versatility, compactness, high level of automation and integration of control systems.
“The ships will be laid down at the Severnaya Verf shipyard on February 20, the official ceremony will begin at 14.00,” Mr. Ivanovsky informed.
It should be noted that Project 20380 ships have a displacement of 2,000 tons, a length of 100 meters, a maximum speed of 27 knots and an autonomous navigation range of up to 4,000 miles. The corvettes will be armed with the Uran antiship missile complex, Redut antiaircraft missile system, and Paket-NK antisubmarine unit.
