Re: Russia-Iran S-300 missile systems deal
Iran Expects Delivery of S-300s Soon After Signing of New Deal
Iran expects to get Russian S-300 missile defense systems after the deal is signed, according to the source.
TEHRAN (Sputnik) — Iran expects to receive Russian S-300 missile defense systems 30-40 days after the signing of a new deal with Moscow, a source in the Iranian defense ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"The transfer of the systems will take place 30-40 days following the signing," the source said.
Tehran will send a delegation to Moscow next week for talks on the delivery of Russian S-300 missile defense systems, an Iranian defense ministry source told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"The signing will take place in Moscow with the participation of an Iranian military delegation and a Russian delegation. Work to clarify the date is currently underway, this will probably be next Wednesday or Thursday," the source said.
According to the source, the delegation will be headed by the Iranian defense minister or one of his deputies.
Iran will also withdraw its lawsuit against Russia immediately after the signing of a new agreement, an Iranian defense ministry source told Sputnik on Tuesday:
"The claim will be withdrawn immediately following the signing of a new delivery contract," the source said.
The delivery of Russian S-300 missile defense systems to Iran could pave way for new deals between the countries in the military-technical sphere, such as purchase of aircraft, an Iranian defense ministry also added:
"The delivery will open the door for other deals with Russia in the military sphere, especially in military aviation. We expect to sign an agreement, according to which Iran would receive a number of various Russian military aircraft," the source said.
In 2007, Russia and Iran sealed a contract for the delivery of the S-300 surface-to-air missile system. Three years later, then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev put the deal on hold after the UN Security Council introduced an embargo on arms deliveries to Iran over the alleged development of nuclear weapons by the country.
In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on S-300 deliveries, shortly after the P5+1 group of international negotiators and Iran reached a framework nuclear agreement.

Re: Russia-Iran S-300 missile systems deal
Would make sense. Let Iran be able to assemble and build parts for a Su-30MKI variant for Iran, with maybe some assistance from India as well. In that case, Russia still makes their money through royalties and spares, while Iran gets more knowledge and skilled workers, and India gets more involved in such programs.
Would be huge benefit doe Iran and India.

Re: Russia-Iran S-300 missile systems deal
So which fighter will they 'jointly cooperate' on?
refurbishing Iran's old mig-29 9-12's......? or maybe that Shafagh flying saucer design?
or something more substantial like the Su-30/ 35.......?
Also, will Russia get bribed again by the West on the S300 drama, and back out yet again at the 11:59th hour? like it usually does?
Putin will no doubt be looked at like a joker if he backs out this time around.

The jokers are first and foremost the mullahs. Regardless of the geostrategical games between the US Axis and Russia, with Iran in the middle, what did the mullahs offered Russia to make it worthwhile for them to supply S-300 and other things discussed in the past years? Obviously nothing of value, even if Iran would have plenty to offer, oil and gas concessions, bases, investments, strategic partnership against threats to both Russia and Iran etc.

Actually the Iranians have been doing a lot as far as supporting Syria with intelligence, as well as republican guard officers.

Iran can be one of of the most cash rich customer of weapons for Russia along with China and India. The sanctions imposed by west and US can go to hell if Russia is able to target and maintain high level of trust and friendship with these countries

Iran S-300 deal

Hmph, I don't get why Russia would have a problem with delivering the systems immediately, who gives a damn about the lawsuit, it'll be moot once the S-300s arrive. Am I misreading this or does the Russian position seem a tad stupid, that's not exactly showing signs of good faith to Iran.

Re: Russia-Iran S-300 missile systems deal
Good faith works both ways and what you describe may work on small deals but this is a state level deal between Russians and Iranians, neither known, to put it mildly, as soft touches.OminousSpudd wrote:http://tass.ru/en/world/816700

There are clearly tough negotiators on both sides, doing their jobs, conceding nothing that the other side might perceive as weakness. These are the ground rules being laid for probably many deals to come. Once both sides recognise that the other is as unflinching as they are, considerable respect and trust can be generated, leading to really good and fair, to both sides, deals.

There's much more to this than just here your missiles, we're done. Iran knows those S300, need other pieces to work as expected. They're demanding some of those pieces. It's normal that takes time.

Re: Russia-Iran S-300 missile systems deal
mack8 from the ghetto.............how are the US sanctions on russia 'for value' now?
In the short term they have cut down Russian growth and damaged their economy... not so much ties with the US which were relatively few, but the ties with the EU and Europe which were much greater and growing.
In the long term however the shift away from the west will greatly reduce the wests "control" over Russia and links to Russia and have forced it to look elsewhere for trade and good relations, which ultimately mean a result of turning Russia towards China and Asia and Africa and central and south America... in other words the last thing the US actually wants... an unfriendly Russia that they have no levers to pull.
The temporary effect on their economy will not last forever and they will be the stronger for it and Democracy and the West will be even dirtier words in Russia.
How does china's ongoing financial collapse feels?
An economies of the west only ever go up... the whole financial system is based on bubbles that eventually burst... the bodies are cleared away and everything starts again... anyone can see the system is broken... but any alternative is communism isn't it?
From your unintellectual comment, you have no goddamn clue of what's going on in the ME........do you?

When has Putin backed out?
Or are you referring to Russian President Medvedev deciding to not deliver S-300 systems to Iran?
Would the current agreement have been signed if they had been delivered?
the only people who think Putin is a joker are western retards who can't see through their own propaganda... like the leader of Australia... Costello... or was it Abbot?

Moscow, Tehran Sign Roadmap For S-300 Deal Implementation
A memorandum on the implementation of the agreement to supply Russian S-300 missile defense systems to Iran was signed, according to a senior official from the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia and Iran have signed this week a memorandum on the implementation of the agreement for the delivery of the Russian S-300 missile defense systems to Iran, a senior official from the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said Thursday.
"This week, a memorandum on the implementation of the agreement to supply Russian S-300 missile defense systems to Iran has been signed. It is a kind of a 'roadmap,'" the official told RIA Novosti.
Moscow may deliver S-300 missile defense systems to Tehran by the end of 2015, Iran's defense minister said.
He added that the memorandum does not specify a specific time frame, the number of systems to be delivered or prices.
In 2007, Russia and Iran signed an $800-million deal for the delivery of five S-300 battalions. Moscow suspended the deal after the UN Security Council issued an arms embargo on Tehran amid suspicions that it was creating a nuclear weapon.
Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on S-300 deliveries in April, shortly after the P5+1 group of international negotiators and Iran reached a framework nuclear agreement to remove all economic sanctions against Tehran in exchange for its pledge to cut back uranium enrichment and the number of centrifuges in the country.

Hehe I don't see how one can laugh at Chinese bubble.bursting. after all a chunkof that 5 trillion debt comes from Western banks. So Ussanctions on Russia are zilch compared to the chinese collateral damageto western trade. If i was theUS treasury I'freze any Chinese liquidity account that is based on US bonds. You never know whentshe little fvckers decide to roll on with junk on. And that snowball effect. Think about it maing. Overnight Chinese fra items become haLf their price. Re: Russia-Iran S-300 missile systems deal
The Western media is a complete joke. The coverage on China's apparent economic malaise has been particularly bad; we keep hearing about how China's economy is imploding based purely on numbers on its stock market without any regard for the fact that the financial sector only constitutes a very small percentage of China's overall economic profile. China is also restructuring its economy; it is trying to develop and focus on domestic markets and consumption instead of being export driven and so it's only reasonable that there would be some dislocations as a consequence. China's real percentage growth may actually sit at 4% instead of 7% but even then China is by no means falling as some would like.
There is such a thing as financial warcraft and so external financial attacks based on speculative assaults cannot be ruled out. The Chinese will also have to crack down on domestic speculators, which is precisely what they said they would do. China's stock markets and its real economy are not virtual synonyms and should not be regarded and treated as such.
