This map is dubious. The jihadis do not control so much turf around the Citadel.

It would have been over years ago if Syria could control it's borders and air space.
They let all these foreign fighters and equipment in, it should have been the number one focus.
Now there is a dozen schemes to keep the Jihadists equipped.
I bet the poisonous foreign NGOs haven't been kicked out of Syria yet either.

You make it sound easy. Even Russia can't control its borders. Ideal border control would be a Berlin wall running around the whole country
with minefields, automated machine gun turrets every 20 meters and layers of barbed wire and tank traps. No country can afford this and
Banderastan's attempt to build a ditch on the Russian border has flopped big time. Syria was always a weak country with a vast desert
hinterland. There is simply no way it could have controlled flow of men and weapons across the Turkish and Iraqi borders. It failed
to control militants within its borders in the early stages because, as in Russia's Caucuses republics, Muslims can be easily radicalized (no
oppression needed just shout about lack of Sharia). There is a good reason why Islamic states have been authoritarian historically including today.
Russia has 17 million Muslims and is being pro-active about shutting down hives being set up by the Saudis and their US patrons that
intend to radicalize Russian Muslims in the future. Whatever the SAA performance and US imperial ambitions, Russia is in this for the long haul
because it is a en ever-present security problem. NATO and its fellow travelers are deluded if they think that Russia will give up. Russia is
not going to put up with another Chechnya.

Gearge1 put this link up in the RAF thread but it contains lots of interesting info on the Coalition/RAF munitions used/targets/month in Syria.

I'll give it 2-3 months to be honest, those suckers are encircled and the more they keep those civvies hostage the more chaos will ensue.

This is why Russia cant afford a weak leadership in many years to come after Putin, cause just one display of weakness / compromise with the west and jihadists then its game over for Russia and its enemies will be emboldened to destroy it with extreme fanaticism. Russians must stand strong and remain vigilant

This is good. Start at about 6.15. This is General Dunford saying, to the gobsmacked senators, that a no fly zone means war with Russia. Then watch as they, the politicians, try to back-pedal.

Notice how many times they mention "barrel bombing" showing they are trying for a deliberate emotive response.
Preventing the Syrian government flying over it's own territory is delusional. That is an act of war.

Barrel bombing is just the hook they hang bombing/shelling etc on, heavily emphasised at every opportunity.Erk wrote:JohninMK wrote:This is good. Start at about 6.15. Way too risky. Dunno if he could expect Russian backing for something like that--though in principle of course it's his country and his right.

US & ALLIES TO ARM ‘OPPOSITION’ WITH MANPADS, I thought they already had, MANPADS, any ways Russia needs to be ready, for these, I think the Syrian Air Force, will be most affected by this because their fighters will be with in range of the terrorist MANPADS, Russian helicopters, might be effected by this but SU 30, SU 34 and SU 35, will be able to stay out of their range.
I don't know about MIG 29K or the SU 33, does anyone know if they will be able to stay of of terrorist MANPADS range?
Hopefully Russia tells the assholes, that if you supply, the terrorists in Syria, with MANPADS, than the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, will be armed with advanced weapons.

Bulgaria is the traitor of Slavs. They sell Grad rockets to Saudis to kill Russians in Syria.

It would require a change in altitude above the flight envelope of the MANPADS (usually above 5000m) which the russian forces have already incorporated and additional tactics such as changing flight routes to prevent ambushes, especially when employing helicopters.

Helicopters have been parked for some time. They do not use them if they suspect MANPADS in the area.

Kerry says end of US Russia diplomatic relationship unless Russia and Syria stop fighting for Aleppo. You see what the next president will do. Putin will have to go strong or go home. Let's see if this unelected Putin can handle it.

Re: Syrian Civil War: News #9
This is something I spotted on Twitter last week where there were some photos of a destroyed bridge, I didn't realise that there was a second. This is the US doing what it does best, destroying crucial infrastructure, in this case that that links east and west Syria. Partition here we come so watch for more bridges over the Euphrates to come down when the US doesn't need them anymore. Near Raqqa anyone?
TEHRAN (FNA)- The US-led coalition warplanes launched airstrikes on two main bridges on the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzur province, days after they killed at least 90 Syrian soldiers in an air assault in the same region in Southeastern Syria.
The state news agency’s reporter in Deir Ezzur said Wednesday that the air raids destroyed al-Asharah Bridge that links the river’s two banks in the Eastern part of the province in Southeastern Syria, only few hours after demolishing al-Mayadin Bridge in the same region near the border with Iraq.
The reporter added that the destruction of the two bridges has been aimed at disconnecting the regions on the two eastern and western banks of the river.
