Whoops... I don't read Russian but the article talks about Project 18280... a spy ship totally unrelated to Ivan Gren.
OMG it's been half a year since June. FFS
And who is to say it did not get to sea and complete its tests on time?
This article has nothing to do with Ivan Gren or any landing ship type...

Has anyone actually even read the link posted?

Russian Navy Landing Ship Ivan Gren LST to continue builders’ trials in spring
Russia’s Project 11711 large amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren will go to sea in the spring of 2017 to continue its shipbuilders’ trials, Yantar Shipyard spokesman Sergei Mikhailov said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency. "Work on the ship is currently under way. The necessity of the work was revealed during the first stage of its trials," Mikhailov said.

"As soon as the work is completed, the ship Ivan Gren will continue its shipbuilders’ sea trials. Their success will be crucial," he added.
In accordance with the renewed program, the ship is expected to be delivered to Russia’s Navy in 2017. The Project 11711 large amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren is designed to land marines on a coastal area seized by the enemy and transport military hardware and equipment. The ship can carry 13 tanks or 36 armored personnel carriers. Instead of marines, it can transport 1,500 tons of cargo. The ship can carry one or two Kamov Ka-29 (NATO reporting name: Helix-B) troop lift helicopters. It may carry the Ka-52K (Hokum-B) shipborne rotorcraft as well.
The ship Ivan Gren is armed with two 122mm A-215 20-round rocket launchers, the Igla (SA-18 Grouse) man-portable surface-to-air missile system, the 100mm A-190 gun and the 30mm AK-630M small-caliber antiaircraft artillery system.
The ship has a displacement of 5,000 tons, a length of 120 meters, a width of 16.5 meters, a speed of 18 knots and cruising capacity of 30 days. The ship’s crew totals 100.

Sea trials were put on hold in October 2016 after problems surfaced with the degaussing system. A Yantar representative said at the time: "At the initial stage mistakes were made in calculating the magnetic field of the warship and now it is necessary to adjust the degaussing system,"
The Ivan Gren large landing ship had its keel laid in December 2004 and was floated in May 2012. Factory tests began in the second half of June 2016. The warship was set to be handed over to the Russian Navy by the end of 2016. The defense ministry ordered Yantar to build yet another warship of the project - the Petr Morgunov. It has to be passed on to the Navy in 2018.

Russian Navy to receive amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren in autumn
Project 11711 warships are designed to land marines on a coastal area seized by the enemy and transport military hardware and equipment
MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. The Project 11711 amphibious assault lead ship Ivan Gren will be delivered to the Russian Navy no sooner than November, President of Russia’s United Ship-Building Corporation Alexei Rakhmanov said on Wednesday.
"Perhaps, this will happen no sooner than November because quite a complex problem has surfaced with the degaussing system, on which work is currently under way, and we’ll be able to finish this work," Rakhmanov said.
The most important thing now is that scientists should confirm the accuracy of calculations so that "we do not have to slash it again" subsequently, he said.
"Unfortunately, the Ivan Gren has had such a hard fate: the ship has been under construction for almost 14 years, and not even an enterprise within the United Ship-Building Corporation began to build it, and over this time the technical requirements for the vessel have changed three times," Rakhmanov said.
The Project 11711 large amphibious assault lead ship Ivan Gren was laid down at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad in December 2004 and put afloat in May 2012.
The ship started undergoing sea trials in June 2016. On order from Russia’s Defense Ministry, the Yantar Shipyard will build another ship of this class, Pyotr Morgunov, which is expected to be delivered to the Navy in 2018.
Project 11711 warships are designed to land marines on a coastal area seized by the enemy and transport military hardware and equipment. The warship can carry 13 tanks or 36 armored personnel carriers, and also up to 300 marines. The amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren is armed with three 30mm six-barrel artillery systems and two Kamov Ka-29 transport and combat helicopters.
The ship has a displacement of 5,000 tons, a length of 120 meters, a width of 16.5 meters, a speed of 18 knots and a cruising capacity of 30 days.

I belive actually latest "spring" was related to shipyard trials, which were not completed last time as defects were found during...well... first days of trials. After that it needs to complete state naval trials. However i remember this whole saga back in time when it was supposed to be delivered by the spring of 2009....

"Autumn" historically means Spring of the following year. Meh, this ship won't "make" their Navy. I hope people aren't losing sleep over this...

Sea trials of Russia’s large amphibious assault ship to start in June
The trials of the Ivan Gren were interrupted over problems with its degaussing system
KALININGRAD, April 11. /TASS/. The sea trials of the large amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren interrupted over problems with its degaussing system will restart in June this year, Project Management Director at the Yantar Shipyard Roman Fedyunin said on Tuesday.
"The Ivan Gren, like the [frigate] Admiral Makarov, is set to take part in the parade on the occasion of Russia’s Navy Day in St. Petersburg on July 30. In view of this, the shipyard has prepared a specified schedule of trials in order to resume them in June. We understand that we’ll have to do everything within quite a short period of time and, of course, the warship’s participation in the parade will noticeably influence the pace of works. But we must deliver the warship this year," the shipyard’s newspaper Vperyod quoted Fedyunin as saying.
"Our proposal will be shortly examined in the Defense Ministry and we hope for a positive result," he added.
The sea trials of the large amphibious ship Ivan Gren were suspended in late October 2016 over problems with its degaussing system and the warship had to return to the shipyard.

It's a horrible design. The sooner RuN starts building LPDs and LHDs the better.

Obsolete definitely. They need to move on ASAP.
Still, not completing them now would be wasteful regardless of how crappy design is. New ship is still a new ship.
I'd say that Navy is perfectly aware of deficiencies and slow pace is result of whole thing being on the back burner with bare minimum of effort, time and resources put into it.
When it's done it's done. They will suffice for hauling loads in the Black Sea.

If they use this LST as as some sort of SOF CB90/RHIB mother ship they may be on to something. But the design let them down, the hangar can't fit an Mi-8-sized chopper and I doubt if the helipad could take one too...

That CB-90 copy of theirs could do that. I believe the Swedes could fit their own AShM (Hellfire equivalent) on them boats.
