No that urgent but navy is the first defence of a country. And they dramatically needs big ships to send them patrol the oceans.

Exactly my point big ships with range and endurance are requiered for both conventional and nuclear war in both defence and offence.

Stop praising eaveything the Russian MOD does they may not be retards like nato but that does not make them omniscient.

Because a proper navy needs some destroyers the Lider class would be incredibly usefull in both nuclear and conventional warfare so what is the excuse for not building it.

Nuclear warfare: that's what nuke subs are for, surface fleet is just there to provide distraction

Conventional warfare: for doing war with nobodies corvettes will do just fine, for doing ''taking you with me'' suicide missions versus USN fleet corvettes will do just as fine (probably even better because there would be more of them than Liders)

Super Gorshkov or even standard one can patrol oceans just fine, nuke subs are what keeps country of that size safe

Keep the missiles top notch and you are golden

Not quite sure why you would regard the Navy as the first line of defence for a country in the geographic position of Russia. That is the role of the army. Also not really sure why Russia needs surface ships to do anything other than protect its shores and maybe its submarines at a push.

According to him, "the main emphasis in the upcoming 10-year period will be made on the construction of ships near the sea zone, equipped with high-precision weapons, including cruise missiles." "We will also develop a strategic nuclear fleet, multi-purpose submarines, repair and modernization of ships of the far sea zone (nuclear missile cruisers) Admiral Nakhimov and Peter the Great." We have a lot of work to do, "the deputy minister added.

Especially if you mean a Kiev class those are both a useless carrier and a bad cruiser.

The Lider has the role of anti sub in a nuclear war and will have the S-500 so it should have a chance to hit the old 1970s missiles the west relies on.

That's some powerful koolaid you have been drinking

Also, Lider does not exist and even if it did it would be useless in nuclear war same as any other surface vessel that does not take a bullet for nuclear subs to go trough

That't pretty harsh considering that the'r Russias allies although if I must admit that I view 1 Russian life worth thousands of times more that the life of some nato filth.

I think its probably a good thing I am not in command of a millitary.

They are already talking about ordering another couple of Arktika nuclear icebreakers as well so smaller ones would be no brainier
