UK MoD Accidentally Reveals British Drones Firing Thermobaric Missiles in Syria

"The Ministry of Defence has revealed for the first time – seemingly accidentally – that British drones are firing thermobaric weapons in Syria. The disclosure comes in an Freedom of Information (FoI) response to Drone Wars detailing the use of Reaper drones over the previous three months.

The revelation comes alongside news that UK drone strikes have hugely intensified in Syria since January. In the first three months of 2018, UK drones fired as many weapons in Syria (92) as they have over the previous 18 months. And, despite the MoD regularly insisting that its Reaper drones are primarily used for surveillance and intelligence gathering, UK Reaper drones have now fired more weapons in Syria than the UK’s dedicated bomber, the Tornado."

Interesting that the article doesn't hint at who the munitions were used against... I'm betting it isn't any of the Western backed "moderate" Wahhabi child murderers...

They probably destroy civilian infrastructures to make it harder to rebuild the country. That's what they did in Raqqa if I'm not wrong.

Funny, not that long ago when their thermobaric warheads didn't exist and only the Russians had them (well to be honest they had them in Soviet times too) most media reports described them as almost nuclear in effect and you got the idea they wanted them banned.

I guess now the west is using them they are not so bad...

The report said that Alloush is currently using the stolen money to run trade activities in Turkey, where he has been living for the past few years.

Alloush announced his resignation from Jaysh al-Islam on May 3 claiming that he had taken this decision to give the youth of the opposition a chance to lead the “revolutionary and political action.” However, most Syrian opposition activists were not convinced by Alloush’s claim.

Many Syrian pro-government activists believe that Alloush’s decision is a result of the humiliating defeat of Jaysh al-Islam in the Eastern Ghouta region battle. One of the main results of the defeat was the end of the financial support for Jaysh al-Islam, which could be the real motive behind Alloush’s decision.

Many leaders of Jaysh al-Islam had been accused of corruption over the last few years. Mohamad’s older brother Zahran Alloush, the founder of Jaysh al-Islam, was accused by other armed groups in the Eastern Ghouta of stealing more than $12mln back in 2015 months before he was assassinated by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

The high level of corruption in Jaysh al-Islam was among the main reasons that led to its fast defeat in Eastern Ghouta, according to observers, who doubt that the armed group will ever recover from that failure."

Any reason why Iran has to launch missiles from Syria instead of Iran? They have missiles with sufficient range.

Shorter flight time so less time to try to intercept them so more likely to go through air defences.

I have to agree with Papa on this one.

There is zero strategic value in this if Iran is seriously moving such missiles into Syria (I doubt it, I believe it is a way for Israel to say "we wanna attack Syria and Iranian forces in Syria, so we need something to sound legit and will stick"). But lets say they have evidence to really prove Iran is moving such missiles into Syria, then it is real stupid and works against Syria and Russian interests, not just Iran's. It is better to wait till things cool down in Syria, before placing such systems in Syria. Like a method to "sell them" such missiles. Till then, if Iran really wants to help, then having some aircraft as well as providing small arms and AD systems is more beneficial than some short range BM's.

But I take what Israel says with a huge grain of salt. They are notorious liars like the US so yeah.

The attacks by yank and Usraelis and co , directly against SAA , have become militarily significant . Airports and arms depots have been hit by missiles and aircraft . SAA troops have been attacked by F16 , in Deir Ezzure . Arms shipments could be flowing to the rats from usrael directly , through southern border . More weapons to SDF separatists through Iraq border . So any waiting on the part of resistance axis , will not stop this . Pure defence is not possible . Or is very expensive .

So counter attacking against the rat masters , is the best option . They are already in the war . These forces should be seen just as another wing of the separatist and anti-democratic front in Syria . We have to overcome the psychological barrier and taboo of attacking the " YANKS " or " USRAELIS " ! Just think of them as well armed rats .

The only conditions that I put on any counter strike , are practical ones . One of force build up . To allow a strike when our forces are at maximum . And when their forces at minimum . Target selection is important . We do not want the Usraeli public to back the zionists . So they should not feel an existential threat . Instead a target like a submarine or ship is better . It is a proportional response to the damage they have caused in Syria . It does not threaten the public . A couple of smaller attacks with no injuries , will soften their mind and acceptance of the bigger attack to come .

Russia already providing AD systems . Aircraft are in short supply in Iran . The cheapest method of detterent are missiles . But Syrians can be helped to make these , at home . I think reinforcing the border with usrael with troops is the best plan .

Unlikely, I doubt Isreal's went and found out all their names, would have tracked them down and waited months just to do this.

This sounds Bogus to me, even if it wasn't the guys where in the army, they are legal targets.

Well, while i sort of doubt it in this case. It wouldnt be the first time Israel tracks people that did this or that even after decades and punished them in one or another way. I mean... Wrath of God operation lasted for 40 years almost.
