But most likely explanation is that IS is letting their ego run wild. It is unlikely that anyone would waste fancy stuff like Iskander on pile of beardie rats like them.

Unless it was export version and manufacturer pulled some strings with MoD for some free advertising?

Iskander is overkill for these vermin...Tochka is more economical...Iskander is better suited for taking out Turkish Patriot batteries, so hopefully they'll save them until the time is right.

Is this warhead to engage manpower and soft-skinned materiel located in the open countryside;

It was going to happen, the tanks were used as battering rams, you can't do that forever without losing one or two. It's normal and the logical end of the story.
Tank looks affected by either a bad transmission or damage affecting the rolling train. Optics are damaged too. Would take a while to repair without parts, but given this is Al Zinki the tank will go through US inspection first.

Looks like a T90 of old from here.

So far both pics and videos uploaded on twitter are very neutral and do not confirm capture.
For all we know they captured an SAA soldier's cell phone, full of T-90 material.

I remeber this article, it is old and full of holes:

-Lavrov is not stupid enough to actually believe that USA is interested in political solution. That part is fan fiction.

-No way Russian will commit itself to ground operation, no way they are that stupid. They managed to avoid that mistake for very long time.

-Entire article is an excuse for SAA's idiotic incompetence. They say they were about to make a breakthrough after 3 months? They should have done that after less than a month.

Lot's of wishful thinking on the journalist's side, that is all.

Russia will commit to a ground operation, it's vital in Aleppo. Hizbullah pulled out, and Iran's troops need Fam Course with their new Russian tools. When and on what proportion, that's a completely different matter.

There is some number about the amount of Iveco LMVs deployed to Syria? Maybe close to the 415-425 owned by Russia?
