A view of the Ops Room at Hemiem Airbase. An interesting mix of new digital stuff and a good old plotting table. My late father spent much of his working life in a room like that.

What is the name of the russian analogue to the US battle management system, DCGS or Hydra fusion both of which are produced by lockheed Martin.
I understand the S-400 command and control module possess such capability, but is still limited to the US TBMCS for example, which is used in CAOC in Al Udeid in terms of capabilities other than identification, tracking and targeting. Both the TBMCS and DCGS are linked in real time.
Though I must say, even though if the Russians have or have not, they have been able to efficiently produce actionable intelligence and excellent battlefield awareness. The results are seen by the deterrence in some instances, and the majority of the time, thedetection and destruction of terrorist forces in Syria.

I was going to ask the same question, I would love to know that?

Reply to your comment about Russia does not need to destroy American targets .......I was thinking that where possible Syrians should take responsibility for firing of missiles and flying planes . With Russia taking on a more advisory role . Also as regards anti ship missiles etc . Can less than lethal warheads be used ? Maybe anti radar warheads . So as not to lead to deaths at this stage . Of course with planes you can not use plastic bullets . But disabling the plane and allowing pilot to eject .Is more useful at this stage . What do experts think ? Can plane close in and ram the other plane ? A slight touch ?

i disagree.
Syrian army should now ,after the incident with their pilot , shoot down any plane
that again bomb their Syrian army. they later will claim the truth. that it was self defense.
Then the american pilot that eject arrested and used as human shield in a top military base
of Syrian army.. and then Assad demand ,that only when Americans stop their aggression
on Syria and end its support to any Rebel ,that abandon any training of them and leave eastern Syria that the pilot will be realeased. So it will be not only embarrassing for Americans.
But also very fair.. the demands. that 1)US stop arming terrorism or any rebel and stop training them. 2) that abandon their illegal bases in Syria 3) that stop bombing Syrian army.

OK, graphic warning. BE CAREFUL OPENING IT.
It looks that some russian mercs went Blackwater on that sandnigga.

I will eat my hat now. I was wrong. Using mercs in conflicts like that are bad idea. You can't really control them and military discipline is for a reason like that.
I don't mind about them torturing the guy, but soldiers on the ground who deliver aid to locals would think differently.

Don't grab the mayonnaise just yet.
Lack of control and discipline is precisely the reason why mercs are used in this capacity. It is a natural trade-off of giving people tasks that few others would accept due to risks involved regardless of how much you pay them.
Certain work can only be given to certain type of people. You don't hire mercenaries because of their high moral standing.
This type of behavior is despicable of course but we do not know who is their client and what are their orders. We do know that petroleum companies from Russia have scored a contact for resource extraction and that securing those resources was part of the contact. Hence the involvement of PMCs. This could well just be part of day to day operations on company dime.
Actions like these reflect poorly on both company and it's client. Nationality of both perpetrators and victim are unknown. Syrian state should be investigating and processing this case but I doubt that they care too much given the circumstances. So unless UN suddenly decides to start doing what it was founded to do in the first place this will just be another random incident and cautionary tale that will be ignored and forgotten come next war.
From corporate point however, these idiots should have their contacts revoked and moron who recorded this should be taken to court for financial and reputational damages inflicted on the company and possibly even the client.

We don't know if that man is a Isis member or not, if these Russian mercs are doing that to ordinary Syrians, than it won't be long before the Syrians turn on the Russians.

Bullshit. Look at their feet. There's plenty of Russian speakers on the other side. I can get you any Russian uniform you want from brand new 'new old stock', literally,Sov battle dress to the most modern and current issue uniforms, harness et al.

Did you notice the severed head in the video. Russian forces are not head choppers.

Feet? Actually they are dead give away that they are russian. I have pictures of my father wore same shoes in Afghanistan. Plenty of russian wore them in Chechen wars/Georgian war.auslander wrote:Bullshit. Look at their feet. There's plenty of Russian speakers on the other side. Also other side "russians" have accent. Russians in Rostov have "ukrainian" twang. (actually it's other way around) Listen carefully.
First of all, they sound nothing like chechen. I grew up with chechens who couldn't speak their primate language and guess what? They all have accent and way of speaking. It's like ebonics with niggers or spanglish with wetback spiks in usa.kvs wrote:Looks like a collection of Chechen Daesh memebers posing as Russian soldiers.

If you do understand russian, then listen to their accent and it can pinpoint them on the map.
Second - They are not Russian forces, they are 100 percent mercs. There are at least 4 security contracts in Syria if not more. Hell there are Russian companies in Iraq too. (Thank You VK)
Also Russians tortured and executed mujees in Afghanistan/Chechen wars. I am old enough to remember my family members coming back and telling their personal stories. Chechen wars were similar, there are plenty of accounts of people being ripped in two with BTRs and other creative ways that would make beheading look like childs game. You clearly don't know cruelty of angry russian lol! "You call that terrorism? let a professional show you how its done."
Also watch documentary about Alpha Group members talking how they sent testicles and organs to terrorists in Lebanon to free Soviet hostages.
Guess what? Everyone to this day fears Russians in middle east.
I am not sure if you people are so indoctrinated or so defensive. Use some critical thinking. I've posted a video, there's not much we know, but just wait and see some facts that will emerge on anglophone boards
Also if You browse runet You would find out source of this and other videos. Someone had their dropbox cracked and surprise surprise, some dudes were ID by the shoes, that epic tag "я просто оделю тебя очень очень больно" and by account itself. Also VK is goldmine for this type of source.
Have a good day.

Will Syrian Army Receive BMPT Terminator?
On June 27, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad visited the Russian Hemeimeem air base in the Syrian city of Jableh. During his visit, President Assad saw the newly deployed BMPT-72 vehicle.
It’s interesting to note that the BMPT-72 vehicle was not currently in service with the Russian Army.
The vehicle appears to be a special copy where the chasse is from the BMPT Terminator with the turret of the BMPT-72 Terminator 2.
This may mean that it may be a special copy made to work in Syria, where vehicle retained the two 30-mm AG-17D grenade launchers along with the modern turret armed with Four Ataka-T rockets with a range of 6 km, two 30 mm 2A42 guns and a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun.
It also equipped with the latest Relikt “explosive reactive armor”, along with a day and night capable fire control system.
The Russian Army requested an unknown number of BMPT-72 vehicles on Jun 19 from UralVagonZavod Company, with the first vehicles being delivered within months.
Some believe the Russian Army wants to test it in Syria, while others believe the deal is in fact for the Syrian Army which may get the vehicle soon.
The Terminator vehicle is the ideal weapon for urban warfare and desert warfare which are the current areas of interest of the Syrian Army, either in the eastern Homs countryside or in the east of the capital Damascus. There is not doubts that the vehicle will improve the performance of the Syrian Army is it receive it.

Well there are two options here:
1) Mercenaries, in which case this is a job for police, either Syrian or police in perpetrator's countries of origin (don't know details on extradition rules)
2) Faked footage
I am personally more inclined to believe in option 1.
There is a lot of dirty work in every war that needs doing and that crap is certainly not something that you will be tasking your armed forces with. Add to that corporate interests and you have every reason to keep your military out and to get some less savory and morally more flexible characters to handle it instead.
There is always personal aspect to consider. There PMCs were fighting in that region for very long time. They certainly lost a few of their coworkers to ISIS and they definitely have sizable axe to grind by now.
It is no excuse of course but only law currently in effect there is law of the jungle.
What amazes me is that CNN and CO are not already all over this. Quite peculiar if you ask me. Could it be that there is something in that footage that makes it glaringly obvious that it's a fake?
We may not see it but for someone more knowledgeable it could be dead giveaway.
I still believe in PMC theory but this media behavior is strange to say the least...

From the audio quality of a bunch of shouting monkeys you could write a whole thesis on their ethnicity. Really, stop trying too hard it is silly.
Nothing in that video gives any evidence of non-Chechens. Since they are engaged in a smear operation they would, you know, actually
try to sound like Russians. That is much easier for them than you make it sound. Again, the audio in the video makes it hard to tell even
if they are speaking Russian.

Russian mercenaries or regulars pulling this torture and head chopping sh*t does not make any sense. They are in Syria and do not
have a lot of personal emotional investment there. This is not payback for atrocities in Chechnya perpetrated by the Wahabbis. There
was a lot of pay back back in Chechnya. Russians don't have multi-generation blood feuds and vendettas like the Caucasians and others.

The Syrian army will have plenty of reasons of hate to ISIS.. they lost many family members
to them.. But like others said Russians special forces have no emotional motives to torture ,
mutilate and even less behead an ISIS terrorist. Lets not forget that there is possibility that
many of this ISIS jihadist be suffering for very contagious illness and the last thing they will
want to do is to be in contact with their blood ,let say it splash all over the place ,or even touch them or be spit by them. no way anyone as trained as Russia special forces will waste their time
in that. they will simply put a bullet in the man head and move on.
Is not impossible , but is highly unlikely. It could be a staged video ,like the hundreds
that exist , used to damage the image of Russia army and its special forces. Im sure that
as bad as Putin is , in leadership , he at least will have told its military to be aware of cameras
and negative propaganda ,that they need to have the highest moral of conduct in Syria.
even against Terrorist. So that Russia enemies don't blame Russia of warcrimes them..
So based on that . my best guess is a staged video ,and that the man killed is actually
a Syrian army soldier or National defense force pro Assad. and that the "Russians" are actors.
hired for that filmed scene. it is totally possible. Only ISIS feels proud about their torture and beheadings. The Russian military for sure ,have to be trained in making sure their soldiers
follow all rules of ethics to minimize the negative propaganda against Russia. Don't forget France accused Russia of bombing hospitals every day and many other warcrimes. so it will
be illogical the Russian government will not be aware ,that needs to demand their soldiers
to not do anything that could be used against the image of their military. IF it was a Russian soldier ,then it was someone who violated the rules of its own military rules of conduct. and
could be fired depending on the damage. People like that who mutilate humans and enjoy it ,can be dangerous for its own military . Because is not following the rules of its military.
i think Russians special forces will have way more emotional hate for Americans or NATO
special forces or Israelis soldiers ,if captured while they were attacking Russian soldiers ,than
any ISIS terrorist. Simply 90% highly unlikely it was a Russian soldier but is not completely impossible . Since wars can affect the mentality of people . no long ago a Russian soldier
in Armenia that is not at war yet ,was arrested after illegally tresspassing in a house with armenians and killing the entire family. for no reason. There are crazy people everywhere.

Three days and nothing on CNN about that video? Yeah I'm switching from mercenaries to fake footage.
There is no way they would miss out on something this juicy. Still, good play by ISIS but not good enough as usual.
Shadiest thing about video was in fact that stereotypical song playing in the background. Reminded me of that Russian Border Guards APC with framed Putin's portrait inside it that ukrops captured and tried to pass it off as part of the invasion.
When you lie it has to be subtle otherwise it doesn't pass the scrutiny.
People keep forgetting that lying is an art form that requires considerable skill.

It is logical, and is to be expected that Russia and Syria begin to think in the Syrian Armed Forces after the war. The war will not finnish soon, with the presence of Israel, Turkey and US in territory of Syria, but there is a prospect of victory for Syria.
It is logical that Syria begins to keep the best part of their arsenals safer, and begins to use the oldest part of their arsenals as intensely as possible.
These are the weapons that I expect to be strongly reserved in safer situation:
Also is likely to see a very prudent use of:
Obviously units of these weapons will be difficult to recover for Syria if lost. Unlikely to go as free aid.
