Why would you need 150 for that?

There will be around 1850 Lynxes. Along with up to 500-600 Tigr, Tigr-M. And also joining them after all the Army tests and upgrades implemented will be Tigr-6A, Wolk-M, Typhoon-lite("Typhoonenok") etc etc . Perhaps Medved-N for sappers. Total requirement for these vehicles is around 5000. It was published some time in RedStar newspaper IIRC.
Anyway this is offtopic in VVS section.

TR1 wrote:Ok, so my feedback and general musings about your data Andy, from top down:
1.) Su-27SM3 - AFAIK the program is complete, are there really firm plans for more to be upgraded?
2.) MiG-29SMT- should probably indicate the new UBs (6 of them from the Algerian order), they are not SMTs but are will last much longer than legacy MiG-29s.
3.) PAK-FA plan is quite a bit more than 150, but I would refrain from guessing there due to so many variables.
4.) From what I gathered @ BMPD.ru, there are ~50 Gefest Su-24s today. Su-24M2 numbers are more of a mystery - 24 were upgraded @ NAPO, but another workshop was involved (forget which), so the number is anywhere frm 24-48.
5.) Do you know if the Gefest upgrade involves recapitalizing the airframe like Su-24M2?
6.) http://vif2ne.ru/nvk/forum/archive/2356/2356154.htm
VTA plans
7.) I believe there are only 2 An-140s delivered to date. Also they mentioned it is going to be used more as a light personnel lifter, not really a cargo plane.
8.) Yak-130 orders AFAIK are 12 for the 1st batch, 55 for the 2nd, and 10 for the 3rd batch. There were 11 in service @ the end of 2011, and another 15 are joining them this year.
9.) 48 Mi-35Ms are on order.
10.) I don't think anywhere near 12 Ka-50s are flight worthy today, maybe half that number.
11.)My numbers for Ansat-U are up to 70 through 2020.
1) I still am confident after AF waits for some development to conclude, they will order around 100 more upgraded Su-27Sm(3) this time really "3" as they said that these 12 were not very different from old SM. And perhaps on smaller scale ~50 Mig-29SM2. Fingers crossed.
2.corrected
3. Should have indicated that its my projection of 150 through 2025. Overall VVS number until 2040+ is projected at 460 by Sukhoi.
4. Corrected. Prefer for higher number.
5. No this is simply equipment with targetting and navigation.avionics etc. Upgrade costs around 100 thousand dollars.
6.corrected
7.corrected
8. thanks. I will update the doc.
9. Hm I have seen a number 49. Corrected.
10. Around 6-8 and 8 in reserve. Corrected.
11. Interesting. Corrected planned numbers.
P.S. I accidentally deleted the doc. So here is updated doc link

How are they justifying buying Lynxes that seem to have poor off road performance?
BTW With the Cummins engines wouldn't the Tigr be bypassed in favour of the Tigr-M?
Also is the Typhoon the old Typhoon as in the 10 ton class family wheeled vehicle, or the Taifun Kamaz vehicle?
I assumed the Typhoon family vehicle was replaced with a shortened lightened Boomerang-25?
The idea of the vehicle families is to reduce the diverse number of types, so combining and unifying two families makes a lot of sense where possible.
The issue of buying foreign stuff is very much relevant to the VVS when you look at light transport aircraft being bought from the Ukraine and light helos being bought from Europe.
Afterall the investment needed to set up factories to build these foreign things locally will not be free and if invested in domestic material could be sufficient to correct the problems that made Russia look abroad for alternatives in the first place...

Sorry for my OT guys, I'll get back on subject.

Russia, AugustaWestland to Jointly Build Light Helicopter
Russian Helicopters, which designs and manufactures civil and military rotorcraft, will jointly produce a new light helicopter with Europe's AugustaWestland after the two companies sign an agreement at Britain's Farnborough air show this week, Russian Helicopters CEO Dmitry Petrov said on Monday.
"We will design the helicopter together with AugustaWestland," Petrov told a news conference, adding that the first model of the new civil helicopter would be made in 2015.
A working group for design of the new helicopter, which will have a budget of around 100 million euros, will start work soon, Petrov added.
The design of the new light helicopter does not mean the company will stop production of other light helicopters such as the Kamov Ka-226 or Mi-34, Russian Helicopters spokesman Roman Kirillov told RIA Novosti.
"The start of new projects does not mean they will replace current ones. We are widening our model range by the international projects such as we have with AugustaWestland," Kirillov said.
He did not disclose the new machine's name or its weight class.
The two companies signed a 20 million euro joint venture deal in June 2011 to assemble AW139 medium twin engine helicopters in Russia.
AgustaWestland's 4.5 ton-class AW169 made its first appearance at Farnborough on Monday.
Light helicopters are the fastest-growing segment of the Russian civil helicopter market, with strong demand from oil companies, private users and air transport companies.

Predictions on future Russian air force procurement
July 10, 2012 by Dmitry Gorenburg
In a post on his blog, Ilya Kramnik today made a set of predictions regarding upcoming procurement plans for the Russian air force. Here’s a translation:
Combat aircraft:
a second contract for 48 Su-35s in 2014 or 2015, with deliveries in 2016-20.
a second contract for 24-32 Su-30SMs for naval aviation in 2013-2014, with deliveries in 2015-18.
accepting the option on 16 more Su-34s, in addition to 124 already ordered, with deliveries through 2020. An additional large contract may be concluded after 2015, so that the air force has a total of 180-200 Su-34s by 2025.
a contract for 48-72 MiG-35s in 2014-15, with deliveries through 2020. Without such a contract, MiG may have to be shut down.
a second contract for 12-16 MiG-29Ks for naval aviation is also likely.
a contract for 32-40 Su-25SM(or TM)/UBMs, with deliveries in 2017-22.
two contracts for T-50 fifth-generation fighter jets. First one would be 8-12 aircraft for the Lipetsk combat training center. That contract is likely to be concluded in 2013, with deliveries in 2014-16. A second contract for 40-60 aircraft is likely to be concluded in 2015, with deliveries scheduled for 2016-22.
Transport and special aircraft:
Contract for 30-40 Il-76MD-90As in 2013, with deliveries in 2016-20.
Contract for 10 An-124-300s in 2015, with deliveries in 2018-22.
Contract for 30-40 An-70s in 2015, with deliveries in 2019-25.
25-30 special purpose Tu-204/214s, with deliveries in 2015-25.
Contract for 100 multi-functional transport aircraft in 2015, with delivery of the first 30 in 2019-25.
Contract for 40 light transport aircraft in 2015, with deliveries in 2019-24. Strong possibility that these will be foreign aircraft, such as the Italian C-27J Spartan, assembled in Russia under license.
Kramnik further notes that the recent discussion of delays in fulfillment of the State Armaments Program will most likely affect the air force least and the navy the most. I tend to agree. The aircraft industry is in much better shape than the shipbuilding industry (or the tank/artillery industries, for that matter). And the Russian military is less likely to scale back its ambitions for the air force than it is for the navy, which has already largely been consigned to the role of a coastal protection force for the foreseeable future. A delay in the development and construction of new destroyers won’t really affect the functioning of the navy too much at this point (given its current set of missions), as long as it can get its corvettes and frigates more or less on time and the Borei strategic submarines still get built.
Aircraft sales do provide the largest part of the Russian defense industry’s export earnings, however. So the question that arises for me is whether the industry will have the capacity to build all these aircraft in the expected time frame. Here we should distinguish between MiG, which (as Kramnik indicates) is desperate for orders in the aftermath of losing the Indian MMRCA tender, and Sukhoi, which has lots of orders for both the Russian military and foreign customers. Will Sukhoi be able to build all those planes at the same time? Possibly, but it will depend to some extent on the company’s success in modernizing its production facilities.

Another good photo report from Torzhok. Good interior shots of Mi-35Ms, as well as the other new attack birds of the RuAF.

Yep, it has been seen on like every new helo, Mi-28, Ka-52, ANSAT, Ka-226, Mi-26, Mi-8, Mi-35.
Looks pretty good imo.
Hard to say about Mi-8 numbers George, but they do form the majority of the birds to be purchased this decade. The number is very high - I estimate the number to be ~500 through the decade (maybe plus a few years).

Twower's nice report on the 378th aviation base. Base flies Mi-24s and Mi-8s, fairly old examples from the 80s. Base is supposed to get Mi-28Ns soon, and new Mi-8MTA-5s as early as next year. Some pilots from the base have already undergone training on the Mi-28 @ Torzhok.
One squadron is on Mi-24s (both P and V), one on Mi-8MTs, and one on EW Mi-8s. Photos of the latter were not allowed.

Russia’s Air Force to Get 180 New Aircraft by Yearend
The Russian Air Force will receive some 180 brand new planes and helicopters by the end of the year, the Air Force Commander in Chief Major General Viktor Bondarev said.
The country’s air force has already received several new Sukhoi Su-34 Fullback warplanes and will get another 12, along with Kamov Ka-52 Alligator and Mil Mi-28 Havoc helicopters, as well as trainer jets including 15 Yakovlev Yak-130 Mitten aircraft, Bondarev said in an interview with the Ekho Moskvy radio station published on its website on Friday.
The aircraft to be supplied to the air forces will carry advanced navigation and other equipment and weapons “of significantly higher quality,” he said.
Last year, some 120 new aircraft have been supplied to the air forces, he added.
On Sunday, Russia will mark the 100th anniversary of the national air forces.

Awesome photos.
I really like the video at the bottom of the page. The agility and stability of those coaxials never ceases to amaze me, Kamov's onto something. I just wish they would paint the radome a different color.
