Its 'cloaking' technology here on Earth.

During exercises of the chemical and biological corps in the Samara region, army forces managed to make a highly critical facility invisible for a long time period. It was made invisible against visual intelligence and missile detection systems. The ‘critical facility’ is a term used by specialists to describe a large military airfield, army headquarters and control bases, bridges of strategic importance, electric stations and other vital military infrastructure. These are primary targets during enemy rocket or bomb attacks. That is why armed forces continually develop new and sometimes untraditional methods of safeguarding important facilities. One such method was tested in the Samara region.

“Using the spray mixture and hydro gaseous equipment installed in vehicles on GAZ-66 base, army corps managed to spray a gas cloud on an area of two and a half kilometers which for 5 hours made the critical facility invisible to the naked eye and also for scanning in thermal and other spectra,” said the head of press service of the Central Military District, Jaroslav Roschupki, in an interview for website ‘RG’. One and a half thousand soldiers and officers took part in the test to create the cloud which concealed the important bases.

The chemical composition of the cloud has special properties. When it is dissipated the cloud merges with the atmosphere and to someone who is looking at it from a distance, it would give off the appearance of a completely empty space.

The hydro gaseous apparatus is designated TDA-2K and it can cover the ground for up to ten hours. Most importantly with this chemical it is actually possible to camouflage stationary and moving objects. Once TDA-2K is dispersed, no radar is able to detect tanks, armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery or rocket launchers, travelling up to a a speed of 40 kilometers per hour.

I speculated before that a very useful Armata support vehicle could be a dedicated aerosol dispersal vehicle, with this article it makes a lot of sense to include some in a Armata brigade.

Kalashnikov to Showcase New Remote-Controlled Weapon Station

The Kalashnikov Concern will showcase for the first time a new remote-controlled weapon station.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Kalashnikov Concern, a Russian arms manufacturer, will showcase for the first time the combat capabilities of the new remote-controlled weapon station mounted on a heavy-class armored vehicle during the Russia Arms Expo-2015, the concern’s head said.

"This is our advanced development, the fire characteristics of which will be seen within the framework of the RAE-2015 demonstration," Alexei Krivoruchko said Tuesday, as quoted by the Kalashnikov press service.

According to Krivoruchko, the new weapon station is able to perform the most complex tasks in different conditions, including during equipment’s movement over rough terrain.

The Russia Arms Expo is scheduled to take place on September 9-12, in the city of Nizhny Tagil.

At least 10 countries, including South Korea, Italy, France and Turkey, will be exhibiting at RAE-2015.

The Kalashnikov Concern was created in 2013 in a merger of two Soviet-era plants, becoming Russia’s largest producer of rifles and other weaponry.

The company exports its products to 27 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Italy, Canada, Kazakhstan and Thailand.

'Igla' just made Russian AFV's much more survivable against IED's:

Russian Ground Forces: News #2 - Page 19 Igla

    Some facts about 'Igla'...

1.) Defeats IED's/Radio commanded mines at 100 m, a 5 fold increase from similar older devices...and it doesn't just defeat the explosive device, it suppresses and jams the relevant frequencies it operates at.

2.) Takes minimal training and skill to operate.

3.) Built in net-centricity allows it operate in tandem with other similar ECM devices, such as small jammer "Little Forest", that can extend the range of 'Igla' 3-fold (300 m). That's right Russian AFV's will be able to defeat radio controlled IED's from 300 m. away, while simultaneously jamming the various frequencies they may operate, when 'Igla' and 'Little Forrest' are working in conjunction! thumbsup

"Needle" 5 times increases the range of protection equipment from explosive devices

    ...More information about 'Little Forrest':
