"Iraqi engineers inventing remote-controlled weaponry and sending it to Iraq's warriors on the frontline."
Ill just make an observation saying "engineers" is abit of an overstatement, id say metal machinists

US drone that crashed in Iraq. Looks like Predator to me, no vertical stabilisator and engine lacks that distinctive Reaper bump on top of the fuselage.
Predator.
Reaper.

And people wanted to see the Mi-28, because it could deal with Syrian terrorists much better.
The accuracy is roughly on level of Apache which is already the most inaccurate helicopter in gun fire. To much recoil for a turreted design. They should have used the casing for 30mm barrel like on Kurganetz and the accuracy would improve significantly. Not to mention better discipline for the gunner. Uses wrong RPM and to long bursts same as most Apache gunners, while there is enough footage of very accurate shooting with correctly used trigger discipline and short bursts. Gunners that know how to shoot are appareantly rare.

Surprisingly mi35m seem to fare better than mi28 in iraqi service. Simpler easier maintenance and seem to fire the same missiles with better accuracy... Its cannon also seems to handle destroying enemy Toyotas better.
It is.less well armoured and doesn't have the mmr...but that doesn't seem much of an issue in this conflict where they are supported by synthetic aperture radar equipped recon planes.

The Mi-24P/35PM are among the most accurate helicopters, which is suprisingly, due the large calibre and fixed guns, but russians trained them to be Su-25 pilots with strafe runs and not like the normal overloaded WSO's in other helicopters.
Mi-24P accuracy depends soley on the gunner. Russians have Sniper designations for aviationists, those who can land 30 out of 30 on target are called snipers and appearantly there are some Hind snipers with unguided aswell cannon against BTR-60-80 targets from 1-2km. Very underrated helicopter by most, actually it is more accurate and lethal with its gun compared with Su-25.

Fixed gun = accuracy. Well at least partially thats the reason. KA52 for that reason has partially fixed gun and can achieve great accuracy on extended ranges compared to counterparts.

Yes, but most think it is the opposite and that a turreted gun is king of all guns, not to mention it barely hits its target when looking more than 10° offbore.

Even tanks/SPATG that had fixed turrets (lacked one actually) had improved accuracy over casual turret designs, however they died out as proved to be less versatile and improved accuracy did not pay off coz you lose so much. But in case of helicopters i dont see the problem, i assume movable turret widens engagement time window during high speed attack runs but hey, you cant have everything in one package no matter what you do. Accuracy > chance to send bunch of rounds that shall miss the target.

Re: IRAQ - Fight on Islamic State: News #1
"Dabiq (Arabic: دابق) is the title of the monthly online magazine used by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/ISIS/IS) for propaganda and recruitment. The magazine was first published in July 2014 in a number of different languages including English. Issue number 1 carried the date "Ramadan 1435" in Islamic Hijri calendar. According to the magazine, its name was taken from the town of Dabiq in northern Syria, which is mentioned in a hadith about Armageddon. According to this tradition, Dabiq is the place where the Muslim and Christian armies will eventually face each other.
Harleen K. Gambhir of the Institute for the Study of War considered that while al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's magazine Inspire focuses on encouraging its readers to carry out lone-wolf attacks on the West, Dabiq is more concerned with establishing the religious legitimacy of ISIL and its self-proclaimed caliphate, and encouraging Muslims to emigrate there."

I'm a real believer in that. Also thanks for posting the info, we all now know how satisfying for some will be the capture of Dabiq from ISIS. For obvious reasons, if it is the SAA I hope they put a mainly Christian group on the job. Oh the irony.Militarov wrote:iraqidabab wrote:Spreading their propaganda is wrong

Well you know Germans were capturing/buying/stealing Soviet/US/British army guides, pamflets, training posters, maps, technical documentations, newspapers whatever they could get and were multiplying them and giving away to the units so they get to know enemy better, its equipment, habits, units... And whatever people now thing they did damn well in that war...when looking at it from pure military perspective i mean.

Iraqi's doing well...
After the control of Baiji refinery, #ISF and Hashd al-Sha'bi completely surrounded Hay al-Naft around #Baiji #Iraq.
https://twitter.com/EjmAlrai/status/655714968751493121
I think this is connected with the Syria operation....keep the Jihadi's pinned in Syria while the Iraqi Army makes a push North.
What are the chances of the Iraqi Army entering Syria if they can retake the occupied areas ?
