for antibodies. This means being able to identify the parts of the virus casing that are distinctive and being able to
extract those parts and mass produce them. This is not trivial since we are talking about manipulating molecular cluster
scale parts. Even something as "simple" as removing the RNA/DNA core from live viruses is a major challenge. You
have to automate this process and no human can use some tool to excise the core. In the real world the only tech that
is viable for such molecular components is to grow them in yeast vats where the yeast DNA has been modified with virus
DNA (RNA viruses are another challenge). So the research needs to identify the right part of the virus DNA and the
right part of the virus casing to make the vaccine effective.

But the distinction between institute and company is small here. The vaccine venture is not some soft money post-docs researching
stuff in an institute/university lab. This is industrial activity.
