Re: Public transport in Russian cities
In Volgograd, the timing of the reconstruction of the high-speed tram has been disrupted. The head of Volgograd, Vitaly Likhachev, promised to launch trams in the spring. But even in the middle of summer, they are still not there. The administration of Volgograd refers that only a lack of federal money prevents them from completing work on the reconstruction of the high-speed tram line in the northern part of the city.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
Some facts and news about UKVZ:
Currently, the company employs 2.6 thousand people in all departments, including defense (in the closed part of the plant, where journalists are not allowed, they produce military products). The tram production employs 450 people. The average salary at work is 26 thousand rubles, by the end of the year this figure should be raised to 28 thousand rubles. And two years ago, in 2019, people here received 16 thousand rubles.
Currently, the plant is provided with contracts for the supply of trams for Taganrog, Moscow and Chelyabinsk. They are also developing a model for Baikonur. 30 units will be delivered to Chelyabinsk by the end of the year, and 10 to Taganrog. In the near future, trams will also go to the capital. By the end of the year, UKVZ will produce 40 tram cars for Moscow.

temp russian transport thread
Had the pleasure of riding on a Vityaz-M yesterday. It's a pretty new model, one of a range made by PK Transportnye Sistemy at the TVZ facilities in Tver
Until now I've only had experience with the sort of older trams you can see at the start of the vid. They're shaky, vibration-ridden and extremely noisy affairs, but I've always assumed that this is at least partially because of the the tram tracks themselves and their lack of upkeep
Well not so. I rode on both a Vityaz-M and an older model on the same line, and it amazed me just how great the difference was, and it all being down to the trams themselves. The Vityaz-M in this regard, was very quiet, had a minimum of vibration, did not shake all over the place, and works up quite a speed between stops, a good deal more than the older trams. Combined with its general roominess and length, it gives you the impression of being a sort of street-level train.

20 used Moscow trams are expected in Kursk until November. The contest will last until August 25. The cars must be brought to Kursk by November 5. The contract price is 1 million 795 thousand rubles. Presumably, these will be trams of the MTTCh model: modernized Tatra T3 trams, which in 2004-2009 were modernized at the Moscow Tram Repair Plant with the installation of TV-Progress electrical equipment manufactured by the Czech Cegelec company.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
Another interesting development of late are Russian electric vessels, designed for city transport & recreation
For example the Ecovolt catamaran, on display in St. Petersburg since this year
It's the first one of 5 planned; they'll be scheduled to transport passengers from St. Petersburg city to the Peterhof complex just south-west of the city.
These vessels have no emissions, are very quiet and can travel up to 140 km between charges. They work up a maximum speed of just under 8 knots.
Meanwhile in Moscow there's a mock-up of an electric water bus currently parked at one of the piers, a vessel that's scheduled to be introduced next year as a means of city transport
It has an autonomous range of 105 km
There are some other promising designs in the pipeline as well, shown earlier this year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021
For example the Ecobus
Ecocruiser
And Ecovolt 3.0
The main necessity when it comes to all such vessels, are the need for pier-side charging points; which are only available in a few places right now but it should be a fairly trivial matter.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
Moscow will fully switch to electric buses starting from 2025.
Moscow will only use electric buses on city routes from 2025. This was announced in an interview with RBC-TV by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, noting that the Russian capital is the leader in Europe in terms of the number of electric buses.
Recall that the first electric buses took to the streets of Moscow in the fall of 2018. Under the terms of the contracts, domestic producers GAZ and KAMAZ delivered 600 electric buses to the capital in 2018-2021. As Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said earlier, the plans for the coming years include increasing the fleet of electric buses to 2,200 cars, which will make up almost a third of the capital's ground transport fleet.
As previously reported by AUTOSTAT, in May 2021, KAMAZ signed another, fourth contract for the supply of electric buses to the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans. Under the terms of the contract, KAMAZ will supply a total of 350 KAMAZ-6282 electric buses to Moscow. It is worth noting that under the fourth contract, KAMAZ electric buses assembled directly in the Russian capital will be delivered for the first time.
Recall that at the end of April 2021, KAMAZ opened an assembly production of electric buses on the basis of the Sokolniki car repair and Construction Plant. The established production facilities are designed to assemble up to 500 electric buses per year. At the second stage of production development, it is planned to reconstruct another SVARZ workshop with an area of 3000 square meters by 2023, which will allow an additional 200 electric buses to be produced per year. 100 high-tech jobs have been created at the production site, and their number will double by 2023. Investments in the project totaled 325 million rubles.
As noted, the opening of the assembly production of KAMAZ electric buses at the Sokolnicheskiy Car Repair and Construction Plant is part of a large program to replace the Moscow bus fleet. The former vehicles in the capital will be replaced with electric buses: the city authorities have practically stopped purchasing diesel-powered buses.

This is a good thing. It amounts to underground commuter rail going to downtown. It reduces the load on the road network and the
parking space.

To do this, it is very important to build a dialogue with tram manufacturers" – the minister said.
At the presentation of Uraltransmash products, Dmitry Semizorov, General Director of the company, spoke in detail about the technical characteristics and capabilities of each type of tram produced at the enterprise, and about new technologies that are used in their construction. Re: Public transport in Russian cities
The first 60 KAMAZ electric buses have been assembled in the capital of Russia. The Sokolniki Car Repair and Construction Plant has already handed them over to Mosgortrans.
According to the plans, a total of 750 KAMAZ electric buses will transport Moscow passengers by January 2022.
The production of KAMAZ electric buses in Moscow, in Sokolniki, is the most environmentally friendly in Russia. The fact is that all operations in the shop are performed with zero emissions. In addition to environmental friendliness, the production of electric buses directly in the capital allows you to reduce the delivery time, assembly and maintenance of electric vehicles, as well as save on logistics.

I.Metshin: "In a short time, a quarter of tram tracks will be restored to proper condition".
In Kazan, it is planned to put 30 km of tram tracks in order, replace about 3 thousand worn sleepers and install 71 temperature compensators. Since the beginning of summer, 12.5 km of tram tracks have already been repaired. Due to this, the number of delays and downtime of trams decreased by 49%, and the number of accidents – by 8% compared to the same period in 2019. According to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, this is an important work that affects the quality of transport services for citizens and guests of the capital of Tatarstan.
"In a short time, a quarter of the tram tracks will be restored to proper condition. The company does this at its own expense. This is important for improving the quality of service and passenger safety, and the first good results have already been achieved" – the mayor said on business Monday at the city's Executive Committee.
"The quality of public transport is one of the key factors that directly affects how the quality of life in the city is assessed" – I.Metshin is sure. – "Of course, people expect us to provide safe and comfortable transport services, we strive for this and have been systematically working on this for a long time."
Since June, more than 1,250 sleepers have been replaced and 22 thermal expansion joints installed. To date, work has been completed on lining and straightening tracks on the sections along the street.Technical – from Vakhitov Square to Boriskovo loop with a length of 4.5 km in both directions, along Belomorskaya Street - from Khimicheskaya Street to Tram Street with a length of 8 km in both directions. Now works are being carried out on the sections from the village of Lumumba to the street.Gabisheva (8 km in both directions) from Arbuzova Street to Sunny City (9 km in both directions).
Last weekend, specialists were engaged in moving tram tracks to carry out work on widening the roadway on Said-Galeyev Street in order to improve the traffic situation on this section. In this regard, the tram route No. 5a from the railway station to Glazunov Street was temporarily reduced. Similar works are planned from 23:00 on August 18 to 4:00 on August 20 on the same section, but already on route number 5 in the opposite direction, said Aidar Abdulkhakov.
Taking advantage of the decrease in passenger traffic during the summer period, the company conducted a full audit of the technical condition of trams, trolleybuses and electric trains of the metro, and tram cars are being repaired. "The requirements for the release of rolling stock on the line have been increased, the staff of the rolling stock service has been increased. This service conducts round-the-clock multi-stage monitoring of the quality and completeness of installed spare parts for rolling stock and for their compliance with standards" – A.Abdulkhakov said.
