Re: Public transport in Russian cities
Moscow becomes European leader in the field of electric buses, 17.08.2021.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian capital established itself as the European city with the largest fleet of electric buses by incorporating the 700th vehicle.
"Today the 'electrobus' number 700 has begun to circulate through the streets of Moscow, " Mayor Sergey Sobianin said on his blog.
According to him, the capital has taken just three years to create the largest European fleet of 100% electric buses: 700 vehicles compared to 400 in London, 211 in Amsterdam or 200 in Berlin.
"They cover 56 routes, have traveled more than 40 million kilometers in these three years and transported more than 100 million passengers," said the mayor.
The 700th unit came out of an assembly line that the largest Russian manufacturer of heavy vehicles, Kamaz, opened last April at the premises of Svarz, a company in northeast Moscow specializing in the production and maintenance of public transport.
The electric buses made in Moscow, the mayor stressed, are among the most modern in the world: ecological, low-floor, equipped with satellite navigation systems, USB ports, informative screens and air conditioners.
In the remainder of the year, according to Sobianin, the Russian capital will receive 300 more green vehicles, 200 of which will be locally produced.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
Passenger fleet will still be updated.
At the end of July, the Mayor's office was supposed to announce the winner of the auction for the supply of a large batch of buses and trams to Kaliningrad. However, they did not name it...
Comfort for all
We have not abandoned our plans to upgrade the passenger fleet! - reassured in the administration of Kaliningrad. - The auction has been announced, and the deadline for accepting applications for participation in it has been extended until August 26. The initial contract price is RUB 3.87 billion. We plan to buy 74 large-class buses and 16 two-section trams.
Many citizens ask :" Will these be green Corsairs?" The Mayor's office explains: "Trams will be exactly two-section and low-floor. Their color is not specified in the terms of reference, and neither is the manufacturer. Suddenly, someone else besides Nevsky Locomotives (PCTS plant?) will want to compete for this order and offer a lower price."
A number of requirements are imposed on the supplier. So, new Kaliningrad trams should have at least four doors. It is mandatory to have a climate control system, video cameras, Wi-Fi Internet access for passengers and terminals for self-payment of travel. But there is also a place for the conductor in the cabin. The tram driver's cab will be equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and computer equipment. Both ordinary passengers and wheelchair users will be able to enter the salon safely and move comfortably. For their entry into the salon, a folding or sliding ramp is provided. The equipment of places for wheelchair users and low-mobility groups of passengers is one of the mandatory requirements of the technical task. The tram should carry a maximum of 177 people. The warranty period for it is 24 months. Trams and buses are leased to the Kaliningrad-GorTrans municipal enterprise.
New routes
With the renewal of the tram fleet, it will be possible to expand the route network. Currently, only Pyaterochka (route No.5) run in Kaliningrad. The tram runs from Basseina Street through Rybnaya Selnya to Dunnaya Street. The length of the route is now 12 km, and earlier, when the tram went to the meat processing plant, it was 21.6 km. In Kaliningrad, preparatory work has already begun on the restoration of tram route No.3. It will run from the Southern Railway Station through Leninsky Prospekt to Kalinin Park.
Major repairs of tram tracks and the contact network will cost about 19 million rubles – said Dmitry Galkaev, head of the Committee for the Development of Road and Transport Infrastructure of the city administration.
The mayor's office planned to put the tracks in order and restore the contact network in some places until September, in order to open tram route No.3 And then, you see, the "Chetverochka" (route No.4) will return. At the end of this year or at the beginning of next year. The return of this route was announced by Governor Anton Alikhanov: "This route was very popular, there are many residents there. We need to shift the paths. We rode the tram, tested the route. Even where it is possible to accelerate on the road conditions, the tram can not do this and swings due to poor-quality paving."
Tram route No. 4, we recall, started from Mendeleev Street in the area of Pobedy Avenue and ended on Gagarin Street near Devau Airport.
16 trams and 42 buses are scheduled to arrive in Kaliningrad by December 31, 2021, and another 32 buses by July 31, 2022.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
A little news about the export of Russian buses:
GAZ Group has produced a batch of buses that Russia will donate to Nicaragua.
GAZ Group has released a batch of KAvZ-4238 Aurora medium-class buses under a major contract with the Russian government. These vehicles were paid for from the Russian budget and will be shipped to Nicaragua as a gratuitous aid, that is, free of charge. A photo of the new Aurors in the port of St. Petersburg was published by the Retrobus telegram channel — cars on cargo ships will be delivered to South America.
Recall that the order of the federal government on assistance to Nicaragua was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in March 2021. 250 Aurors will be transferred to this country, Nicaraguans have pledged to buy another 300 PAZ-320414-04 Vector buses produced by the Pavlovsk plant of GAZ Group at their own expense.
Together with the Aurors, a large batch of spare parts will be delivered. A total of 1.317 billion rubles will be spent on cars and parts from the federal budget. Buses will be shipped until December 31 of this year.
Here we should take into account that Russia regularly makes large gifts to Nicaragua, which began after the country recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in September 2008. In 2009, at the expense of the Russian budget, Nicaraguans were presented with 130 Aurors and 450 Lada Kalina cars. In 2011, a batch of 600 buses and 1000 Lada Kalina cars was transferred free of charge. It should be noted that the Nicaraguan government forcibly transferred transport workers to Russian buses — at one time this caused a wave of indignation, since it was necessary to abandon reliable second-hand American equipment in favor of unfamiliar products of GAZ Group. Most of Nicaragua is mountainous, and Aurors have shown an inability to adapt to these conditions and often broke down.
The Aurora bus has been produced since 2001, and in the current iteration, the model is equipped with YaMZ or Cummins diesel engines at the customer's choice.

The head of Magnitogorsk, Sergey Berdnikov, took a test ride on a tram with a working detour. Sergey Berdnikov: "The tram is our main mode of transport today. And taking into account the length of the tracks, we are not only changing the rolling stock, but we have also started work on replacing the railway track. Some sections were worn out and needed repair." The mayor noted that the builders are ahead of schedule. It is planned to finish the work by the end of August.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
New trolleybuses hit the streets of Vologda.
Three new VMZ-5298.01 "Avangard" trolleybuses were launched in Vologda on August 18. The cars were purchased by a leasing company from the local enterprise Trans-Alfa, and 87 million rubles were allocated for this purpose. In total, more than 30 units of equipment will be purchased within two years.
All trolleybuses are low floor, designed for 100 passengers. The driver's cabin is equipped with air conditioning and an on-board computer, the interior is equipped with video cameras, recirculators, an electronic display board, USB sockets for charging phones, Wi-Fi. Trolleybuses have an autonomous mode that will allow them to pass through areas where there is no contact network. The cars are also equipped with an electronic fare payment system with the ability to accept bank cards, passenger counter-locking systems, and automatic braking when the doors are open.
Currently, trolleybuses run on test routes developed by the Vologda City Economy Department: No. 1 "VPZ-Vokzal", No. 3 "VPZ-Arkhangelskaya", No. 5 "Vokzal-Gorkogo-Vokzal". In the test mode, the demand for routes is evaluated, the operation of the contact network and the equipment itself is adjusted. Preliminary testing will last for a month, and travel during the test period is free.
Three new vehicles will be permanently installed on the existing trolleybus route No. 4 after testing is completed. It will work without changes. The new routes will be fully operational next year, when all the necessary number of trolleybuses will be purchased.
Work on restoring trolleybus traffic is being carried out within the framework of the project committee "Development of Electric Transport" and the concept of "EcoVologda". One of its areas is the development of eco-friendly transport, both personal and public.

In Nizhny Novgorod, 20 new buses entered the city route.
As part of the national project "Safe and Quality Roads", new comfortable urban transport has been delivered to another agglomeration: 20 LiAZ buses have been added to the fleet of Nizhny Novgorod.
A special feature of the new transport is that it runs on compressed natural gas. This is one of the most environmentally friendly types of motor fuel, and its use can significantly reduce the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
The new vehicles is equipped with anti-vandal seats and anti-slip floor covering. It is adapted for transportation of disabled citizens and passengers with baby strollers. Vehicles have a special place for attaching wheelchairs and for a guide dog.
New buses entered the city route No.40 "South microdistrict-Verkhniye Pechory microdistrict".
This is the second batch of transport delivered to Nizhny Novgorod under the national project "Safe and Quality Roads". Last year, the city received 84 buses, they work on social routes A-43, A-48 and others.

Re: Public transport in Russian cities
The 700th electric bus came to Moscow. And now let's remember that a Russian oppositionist of Jewish origin (Maxim Katz) wrote about this technology:
"You may have noticed that about once a month all the media happily announce the start of testing electric buses in Moscow. I'm constantly being sent links to this, so, they say, look! Now your trolleybuses are no longer needed, the electric bus has arrived in Moscow!
In reality, an electric bus that can work in our climate does not exist. Technology is developing, especially in China, but so far there is no mass production of such machines: either the battery is too heavy, or it takes too long to charge.
But people are very well deceived when it comes to something futuristic in transport. The mayor's office decided to take advantage of this and enthusiastically talks about testing electric buses once a month."
