Russian Helicopters unveils helicopter cabin of the future at Army 2021 Forum. 

The Russian Helicopters Holding Company of Rostec State Corporation presented a mock-up of the cabin of promising Russian helicopters, designed to meet modern requirements in terms of ergonomics and functionality, at the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum. This model will allow you to work out several technologies at once, including the use of a touch-sensitive "glass cabin", a system for predicting and supporting pilot decision-making, and others.

Research work on creating an ergonomic cabin layout is aimed at improving flight safety, as well as the reliability and efficiency of helicopter crews. The information and control field of the cockpit of a promising helicopter is formed in such a way as to reduce the psychophysical and intellectual costs of the crew during piloting, as well as maintain their full situational awareness.

"In cooperation with leading research centers and domestic avionics manufacturers, we have set ourselves the task of finding optimal technical solutions that will allow us to build new principles of interaction between the pilot and the helicopter, reduce the load on the crew and the influence of the human factor, and significantly improve flight safety. The development of avionics will significantly change the appearance of modern helicopters in the near future, and I am confident that this research work will allow us to lead these changes" – said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of Russian Helicopters Holding Company.

During the research work, several concepts and technologies will be developed on the model of a promising cockpit. In particular, the demonstrator will study the use of a "glass cabin" with modern display and control tools on a single working field of a touch-sensitive dashboard. Another area of research will be the use of an intelligent crew support system with interactive forecasting algorithms, solving optimal control problems, a decision support system, and optimizing the construction of a space-time flight path, including for high-precision flights in conditions of artificial obstacles.

In addition, the advanced cockpit will allow you to study the concept of optimal automation, which involves the introduction of a "virtual pilot" and a rational distribution of functions between him and the crew. The layout will also test the concept of using augmented reality elements with the implementation of a "synthetic vision" system based on combining information from various on-board sensors and systems.

The model of the cockpit was created by order of the Russian Helicopters Holding Company by a broad cooperation of developers and manufacturers of avionics equipment, which includes JSC Scientific Testing Institute of Ergatic Systems, JSC Navigator, FSUE GosNIIAS and the Research and Testing Center for Aerospace Medicine and Military Ergonomics of the Central Research Institute of the Air Force of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The expert organization for the project is the V.P. Chkalov Research Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

UEC presents mock-up of a hybrid engine for naval aviation at Army-2021. 

The UEC-Klimov company showed at the Army-2021 military-technical forum a mock-up of a hybrid power unit (GSU) for marine vehicles. On its basis, it is planned to develop an engine for high-speed small vessels, the UEC press service reported.

Visitors of the Army Forum can see the model of the GSU among the exhibits of the Marine Cluster. The GSU mock-up includes a gas turbine engine, electric motors, power electronics units, an electric generator, and a battery pack.

Shotguns received a folding stock and handle of the AK-12 type, as well as a Picatinny rail for almost the full length of the weapon, which will allow you to install the entire set of attachments. However, the main highlight of the guns was the ability to install an Apple Watch smartwatch in a special slot. According to Kalashnikov, such a solution was implemented for the needs of sports shooters: a smart watch can be used as a shot counter and to measure the volume of a shot.

A very bizarre novelty from Kalashnikov is a civilian carbine based on the legendary Makarov pistol. The carbine differs from the usual "Makarov" by an elongated barrel with a false silencer and a counterweight mounted on the handle. All this is done to comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation, according to which the length of the weapon must be at least 80 centimeters. The practical task of such a weapon is obviously close to zero, but the carbine is suitable for entertaining shooting, because the 9x18 ammunition used is one of the cheapest on the market with a price of 10-11 rubles per cartridge.

Technodinamika Holding of Rostec State Corporation presented for the first time a prototype of Blue Sky pro anti-insomnia glasses at the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum. The product allows you to prevent sleep disorders and restore daily biorhythms within one to two days. The glasses are intended for mass use, but can be used by military personnel to restore their strength.

The Blue Sky pro prototype is made of an environmentally friendly, high-strength composite material made in Russia. The product includes a set of replaceable nose stops, the user will be able to choose the most convenient one for themselves. In addition, the glasses are equipped with the most versatile type-c charging connector.

"The prototype of the Blue Sky pro glasses, which we are demonstrating for the first time at Army 2021, is one of Rostec's newest civilian developments. The product allows you to deal with sleep disorders and restore a person's biorhythms within a couple of days. The glasses will definitely appeal to people who suffer from insomnia or have to regularly deal with jet lag due to business trips. At the same time, they can also benefit military personnel, including pilots, helping them recover faster" – Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec State Corporation, said. 

It is possible to restore circadian rhythms thanks to the spectrum of light emitted by Blue Sky pro glasses. It is similar to sunlight in the morning from 6 to 10 o'clock and in the evening from 14 to 18 o'clock.

When light hits the retina of the eye, it activates the brain cells responsible for the"internal clock". As a result, the body switches from night mode to day mode. In the morning, the device allows you to get rid of drowsiness, and in the evening - to "postpone" sleep until about 23 hours. To fully restore the sleep and wake cycle, glasses should be worn for half an hour a day at the specified hours.

You should also use glasses when changing time zones for more than three hours and when working the night shift. They can also help improve well-being in cases of depression, neuroendocrine diseases, and decreased concentration. The effectiveness of the development has been proven in the course of neurophysiological studies.

"We plan to start mass production of glasses in 2022. In terms of production volume, we are focused on approximately 15 thousand units. The price of the device can range from 7 to 30 thousand rubles, depending on the material used" – Igor Nasenkov, General Director of Technodinamika Holding, said. 

The novelty is being created in partnership with Samara State Medical University and will be produced by Technodinamika Holding. Serial production is planned to be launched at the Samara Electromechanical Plant.

Rostec for the first time showed a unique anti-sniper robot at the Army-2021 forum. 

The Sosna-N robotic sniper detector developed by the M. F. Stelmakh Polyus Research Institute (part of the Shvabe Holding of Rostec State Corporation) was first shown at the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum.

The complex is an automatic remote-controlled laser-optical installation capable of scanning the space around itself around the clock and detecting any optical devices that conduct counter-surveillance or aiming, whether it is a sniper rifle sight, binoculars or an anti-tank guided missile system sighting system.

"Sosna-N" is not only able to give an alarm signal and mark the location of a sniper's detection, but also to put a visual obstacle to it with the help of directed laser radiation.

The neutralizer has a dual purpose. The chief designer of the product, Mikhail Ruzin, in an interview with TASS, noted that Sosna-N can be used both to ensure the safety of protected persons, and to protect objects and privacy.

"The system can be installed on the VIP box of the stadium or on the perimeter of a secure building. When attempting to shoot video, observe through binoculars or aim at sniper optics, Sosna-N will create visual interference to the attacker and instantly give out his exact location" – Ruzin stressed.

The product can operate at distances of up to 3 thousand meters, while the suppression range is up to 2 thousand meters. The weight of the device is only 4.6 kg, and the touch-sensitive portable control tablet weighs about 1.1 kg.

"Since 2018, the AK-12 replaces the AK-74, and in the next few years it will become the main machine gun of the Russian armed forces" – Kalashnikov said.

As noted in the press service, the Group has started production of upgraded AK-12 assault rifles.

"At Army 2020, the final appearance of the AK-12, formed as a result of military operation, was shown. Now "Kalashnikov" produces this model of AK already taking into account all the improvements" – the press service informed.

During the modernization, the AK-12 was able to use all-day sights. "The AK-12 provides effective use 24/7, is characterized by good ergonomics and accuracy of fire. Its design is fully developed, and the customer confirms this. The machine gun was intended to become the main weapon of the modern Russian soldier for decades. The experience of its military operation confirms that the task has been fully completed" – Kalashnikov said.

Earlier, during the Army-2021 forum, the Ministry of Defense signed contracts with the Kalashnikov Group of companies for the supply of a batch of AK-12 assault rifles.
