They admit the loss of a senior officer at an Mi-8 unit during the same timeframe as snake island.

What a toxic website, but good find. Could be related to Island shenanigans or simply shot down on the east front as Ukrainians were trying to use their helicopters there.

I think the "Ukraine" part kinda gives it a dead giveaway on how toxic it can be.
I think there was a helicopter or two shot down by Russia on same day of the attack on snake island.

It's a pity Azovstal wasn't adjacent to a sewage treatment plant, that would get them out.
With 1000+ men holed up in there, I think it is becoming a sewage treatment plant...
Let them smother in their own shit. They deserve far worse.

I think it's key that he belonged to a naval helicopter unit that would be around that area.

I pass you a graphic that I made on the armament of the Su-35S recently seen in Ukraine.
It is seen that one of the J-31 missiles was fired, as there is an empty hardpoint.

The problem is that this disease infects many Russians as well. It is related to the arm chair general syndrome a variant of Dunning-Kruger.

The difference is Russian armchair generals are in charge of the "me, myself, and I" fire team.
Ukrainian clowns are in command of the entire Ukrainian army.

2001 system? What’s there to learn for Russian engineers? Maybe children rocket club
Brimstone uses MMW radar to scan the ground in front of it and it flies looking for armoured targets, and is probably the most capable version of Hellfire in service.
It would certainly be worth a good look... not to emulate, more to deal with.
Interesting comment from brigade commander of Ukrainian naval infantry in Mariupol colonel Vladimir Baranjuk about Javelins. He said that Javelins were totaly useless in Mariupol and that they could not launch a single missile as all the time something jam them...
Most likely their AI was not very good and they probably just locked onto any heat source after launch, which might include any dark object heated by sunlight during the day or anything on fire, or just windows reflecting sunlight... remember the Javelin is launched up into the air and then looks for the target itself... if there are lots of potential targets in view it could target any of them, and when many are not real targets its performance might be 100% and yet still not hit a tank... because what it locked was not a tank.
Missiles are expensive programs to invest in. Russia has very few milimeter wave active radar ground attack missiles.
It will be valuable for them to reverse engineer this one. Much faster and cheaper than develop missile from 0.
With modern AI and perhaps a passive IR seeker to assist in targeting actual targets instead of battlefield noise they might be able to come up with something interesting.
But they already have the IIR guided LMUR with a 30km range and a two way datalink...
Remember the Soviets had MMW radar guided top attack submunitions in the mid 1980s... they are not as amazing as supporters of Brimstone like to pretend.
Still worth a good look anyway.
The island is really small. Fireball is a destroyed ukrop Mi-8. Of course, the lovely regime in Kiev is telling the world now that it was a russian Mi-8.
They share images of an attack on an Island that cost them at least three Mi-8 helicopters full of troops for landing on the island along with other important and not replacable aircraft for the prize of one TOR vehicle they say, yet no images of Urans sinking the Russian Black Sea flagship.... almost like they had nothing to do with the problems the Moskva had...
Su 24 Ukrainian Air Force somewhere near Izjum. Ukraine still has its air force.Just these are suicide missions.
They likely will be shot down as they approach any target of consequence so yes... suicide missions... of no obvious value except AD practise for the Russians.
Poison the food... I know not the russian way but **** those nazi twats!
They likely kept some civilians as food testers... I am not saying they shouldn't, I am suggesting it just might not be effective in the way you hope.
The story about all the civilians having been released from the steel mill is being treated with skepticism by Russian analysts and
it looks like a set up by the Kiev regime to bait Russia. Russia blows away the Azov Stal holdouts and then the world is shocked
that many civilians died too.
Well that would require Kiev to reveal proof there were any civilians there, so they would need live cameras and satellite phone links to give video they can post of the destruction taking place with the civilians (only) visible... hope they check for such things...
They probably can't save the civilians but they can block the propaganda feed.
Only impact i can think is if that they can control snake island with Excalibur shells as it'll be in range.
An opportunity to test some GPS jammers but they will need an entire TOR battery to deal with any attacks... and also it is a reason to deal with artillery on the shore...
Perhaps a ship to operate near by and offer NGS... shame they don't have any ships with 152mm guns... ironically Moskva with upgraded air defence and a test mount of a Coalition would have been able to monitor the airspace and also shell land based targets nearby while having Pantsir to deal with drones... perhaps a test mount of a 57mm gun with air burst shells to deal with drones too... but they didn't want to spend the money.
If this was a Russian helicopter, why wouldn't they send it without any fighter or AD cover?
They claimed shooting down three Mi-8s... so they identified the targets specifically but couldn't tell their own helicopters from Orc helos... surely they would know if their own helicopters were present...
Because the Russian mod has been tight lipped and so has a lot of the Russian command so to say "trusted source" is like saying source = my ass.
The Russian Mod is not tight lipped about this.... they stated the three Mi-8s shot down were Ukrainian...
Deploy a Niobium radar + 2 x Tor and Pantsir and keep an constant air patrol around the area. There are 150+ MiG-31´s available, this shouldn´t be a problem.
The thing is that the Orcs are looking for weak spots... when you move better defences to Snake Island they will just look for some other location with weak defences and attack that with multiple aircraft and drones which they expect to lose but might get video footage of some ambiguous explosion they can claim is the Kuznetsov, or a Tu-160 or some such rubbish.
In this case the situation for the Russians is a high rise building where all the windows can open and all the orcs need is to find one open or unlocked.
Locking all the windows and keeping them all closed is not an option.
Occasionally they will find an open window... sometimes it will be a trap of course... the orcs aren't stupid except their basic ideology, but the Russians are not stupid either....

It is not even a matter of seeking weak spots.
They are making movies there.
Movies for sponsors, commercials. At the cost of their own soldiers' lives.
Principal all air attacks are not more than kamikaze.
Pilots get a one-way tickets, and lack of skilled air personnel was a factor a few weeks ago already.
I suppose that what we see now, is made with air academy cadets or something, and as they are young folks there - they can be heavily zombified.
They are desperate for propaganda material, and really, really lacking it.
Russian troops are not beaten in the counteroffensive, they just withdraw from the territory.
There is nothing to show, nothing to keep the propaganda running.
They have brought all the vrackages from the whole Bucha/Irpien/Gostomel area to one place and presented that to the information agencies. That storage includes both Russian and Ukro junk but is presented as Russian
The sole T-90M wreckage was a top propaganda material for a whole bloody week here.
Tons of articles on the matter, and how they have destroyed "the pride of aggressor".
One fuckin' tank! that was blown up on a mine most probably.
They have just passed the law that pushes the information status about servicemen into 90 days term.
So they won't inform families about the fate of a guy, for 3 months
Same time, searching for info at Russian sites is prohibited.
How much victory does it sound to you?
This war is a pure informational insanity, Baghdad Bob master level.

Uses for small Island :
( 1 ) Put nukes on it , aimed at NATO nukes in West Ukraine in the future . Better there than Russian mainland .
( 2 ) Make high security prison for Nazi .
( 3 ) Put disposable Radar antennae , cheap or frangible , with data link to mainland , air dropped .
( 4 ) Air drop any other automatic equipment , needing solid ground for landing / operation like ECM , or before deployment to sea .
( 5 ) Target practice for bombing runs .
( 6 ) A place for Jellyinsky to come and sign capitulation , better than Usrael......

But Ukrainians have always used 152mm artillery shells whereas NATO standard is 155mm. NATO can't supply 152mm so they are supplying 155mm and to use the latter Ukraine also needs NATO artillery guns.Isos wrote:They still have hundreds of artillery pieces that they are trained on which have the same caracteristics as the ones provided by nato.

And it didn't even reach the target hence
Well you get what you pay for I guess. Ze West better start supplying the goods not the outdated surplus, or in the best case they'll fail to explode and in the worst case the Russians will have a look and maybe learn something.
Haven't seen any Kalibrs, Kh-38s, Kh-101s pepper out on the way yet
