Even now they are useful as not every incoming munition would guided and they definitely protect from blast and shrapnel.

The British had some great aircraft back in the day. Both the Canberra and the Buccaneer served in the SAAF for many years. I was still a youngster then but knew many of the pilots who flew them as well.
This picture was taken during the Bush War years at Waterkloof AFB near Pretoria - all out in the open Isos!

The commander assumed, there was no way Ukraine would be able to pull off such an attack and there is logic to that.
The problem WAS leaving ammo storage so close to the aircraft not the spacing if your fighting a 3rd world country this is fine but in a war like this you cannot do that.
Now you can never stop everything from happening, but you for sure can reduce the occurrences.
A lot of you are missing the key detail here, THEY DID NOT go for the planes but the storage, It was by pure lucky RNG the bombs blew the way they did and landed where they did.
Indeed the Russian commanders made an incompetent choice, they kept easily detonated munitions that close to their aircraft BUT Ukraine simply got lucky with the spread

All of them are covered with that, there is no difference.
Let it be a base in Kaliningrad, an ex-Soviet base in Poland, GDR or NATO base in West Germany.
All of them.

Totally irrelevant, but the Buccaneer was a beautiful aircraft, based on aesthetics alone.

I am infatuated with British aerospace engineering from the cold war. They sure had some uglies (Javelin, Valiant, even the otherwise impressive Lightning wasn't too pretty).
But the Vixen, the Scimitar, the Sea Hawk, the Victor, the Buccaneer, hell early-model Harriers, beautiful planes.

That "Colonel" is polish guy by name and by how he speaks "russian". He is a foreigner, polish merc. That is not even Ukrainian which borrows roughly 50/50 russian and polish language. He said several phrases that are not in ukrainian and not with "ukrainian" accent which is just the Russian way to pronounce certain words and phrases.
Especially at the End where he said "No, no discussion" he says it not in Ukrainian but in polish "Ne, ne ma obsuzhadnie". The "Ne, ne ma" is polish with a polish accent however he tried to speak russian by using the word "obsuzhdanie" which means discussion.
He is a polish mobster of polish mafia and was involved of several mysterious "suicides" of unwanted people.
Foreign Legionnaires and Ukrainian soldiers along with many civilians have complained about his inhumane nature. Female medical stuff was raped and gropped by him, soldiers shot for questioning his orders and like in this video foreign mercs were complaining about his orders to loot and torture.

The Russian are expecting these idiots to try something tomorrow but I think they are as ready as can be to counter anything they may want to attempt.

many thanks for the additional information Werewolf.
It also explains why the Legionnaires want to take this outside where everyone can see.
And telling the guy at the beginning of the video to tape it.
If you don't mind, I'm going to copy it to the description on the video on Odysee.

You see the rails&rollers on the ground?
That is all for doors, already recycled by scrap collectors.
Each wing was about 4-5 tons, depending on a bunker side.
Those bases are scattered among all of Poland, ex-GDR, Chechoslovakia etc.
I have explored half of them in Poland, because I am old already. Had a time
We talk hundreds pieces.
Some of those in GDR, some of them in Czech.
So yeah, Russkied don't cover the planes because they are stupid
Give me an armchair field marshal epaulets now!

LMFS wrote:The Pentagon secretly handed over air-launched anti-radar missiles to Kyiv
The US continues to "pump up" the Armed Forces weaponsaggravating and prolonging the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, as it turned out, weapons officially announced by Washington are not always delivered to Kyiv.
Thus, the Pentagon, without any publicity, handed over high-speed missiles to Kyiv to destroy radars. This became known at the beginning of this month thanks to Russian bloggers. They found fragments of AGM-88 HARM fragments at the site of the defeat of the Russian air defense system.
It is worth noting that information from bloggers could be considered unreliable, as is often the case. However, a little later, the Pentagon confirmed the fact of deliveries of AGM-88 HARM to Ukraine.
Recall that the aforementioned high-speed anti-radar missiles are designed to destroy air defense systems, as well as anti-battery radars. The ammunition is equipped with a homing head that reacts to radar radiation.
Commenting on the supply of AGM-88 HARM missiles to Kyiv, the deputy head of the Pentagon stressed that the ammunition was transferred to Ukraine not as part of the last package, but earlier. At the same time, he did not talk about the number of missiles delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, only specifying that this weapon is intended for air launch.
Thus, it is likely that the batch of anti-radar missiles delivered to Ukraine was previously modernized for use on board by Soviet-style fighters. But Ukraine has few of them left. Earlier, Eastern European partners promised to supply their MiGs.
It is worth adding that the Business Insider portal, which raised this topic, is confident in the short-term effect of such supplies. Experts believe that the Russian army quickly adapts to new conditions, so the advantage of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, due to the use of the AGM-88 HARM, will not last long and will not have a serious impact on the course of hostilities.

The next game changer.
Problem 1: not a single sortie flown by the mighty Ukro air force in the last days.
Problem 2: missile is inferior to the missiles they had at the beginning of the conflict.
