TOS-1 is a short range rocket with a very heavy warhead that takes up most of the round. You can't just bolt such specialised ordance onto a Smerch and expect it to fly. Such a combo wouldn't fit the launch tube, wouldn't fly straight, wouldn't have range.

Kornet has a speed of 300m/s. Slightly more than konkurs.

Ataka and vikhr are much faster with a speed of 600m/s for vikhr which is almost mach 2. For air launched missile faster missiles are better specially when going against shorads.

Konkurs drags a wire and moves at about 200m/s and is rather slow... like Metis and Faggot which also drag wires, but Kornet does not drag wires and is easily supersonic... 350m/s plus.

Shturm is 450m/s and Ataka is 400m/s... these are average speeds BTW over max range with Ataka being slower because it reaches 1km further with the same motor and a heavier warhead.

Vikhr has an average speed of 610m/s, with about 310-320m/s being the speed of sound at sea level.

One of many famous Ukrainians died in Bakhmut, yet some British YouTuber performs mental gymnastics to prove that Bakhmut is not important for Ukraine

Get out of here Stalker... Shocked

Russian army needs to make a counterpart of this weapon to be used against NATzO and Khokhol terrorists

Its so called precision was meaningless when hitting exposed civilian targets... a SMERCH rocket with a HE FRAG cluster warhead would have been 100 times more effective over much greater distances.

#Ukraine: A Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter (RF-91335, 43 Yellow, formerly 43 White) was reportedly shot down by a Russian Pantsir-S1 in a friendly fire incident in #Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

What was the number of the one forced to land early in the war? Note the canopy windows are open so they didn't eject... they landed and climbed out.

The cost of one Mugin-5 UAV, which is freely available, does not exceed ten thousand dollars, which is much less than the cost of production of anti-aircraft missiles for modern air defense systems.

Pantsir missiles and TOR missiles are cheap simple command guided missiles designed to be bought and used in enormous numbers... as this conflict shows... these two systems and the other systems they use have been produced in enormous numbers so with older missiles like S-300 this is just an opportunity to use old missiles up...

My bet would be that there are small nozzles for high-pressure water or other cleaning fluid embedded in the frame. That solution has been used elsewhere, together with mechanical wipers.

Regarding the steam engine, I am pretty sure that's one of the old Soviet trains (here with the obligatory truzyb of course) they have used for retro-themed excursions for many years. Thus it is hard to say if the footage is recent.

Judging by the map, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were nevertheless sent to cover the Kyiv and Chernihiv directions by one mechanized battalion in addition to the territorial defense brigades of the respective regions.

To pull out more forces, apparently, no longer makes much sense, since at least four new brigades are completing coordination in training centers in the west of the country: the 47th and 67th mechanized, the 3rd assault and the 77th airmobile.
These forces are quite enough to organize a cover for the northern border of Ukraine, and if there is no threat of opening a second front, to strengthen the grouping in the Donbass

    ---

The territorial defense would get smashed tho,

I think raising even newly trained units would not be sufficient to cover the northern border

Situation in the #Soledar Direction until 12:00 on 24 Dec 2022⚡

🩸Fighting continues in and around #Bakhmut (#Artyomovsk). Russian troops are conducting a positional offensive, breaking through the AFU defence in several directions at once.

    ♦#Bakhmut and Soledar Areas:

The most intense fighting is taking place in #Opytnoye, #Kleshchiyevka, #Podgorodnoye, as well as in the areas of #Dyleyevka and #Razdolovka.

    ▪ During the offensive, Russian assault groups established control over three platoon strongholds and three fire positions on the southern edge of #Podgorodnoye, two platoon strongholds in #Opytnoye on Shkolnaya Street and several positions on the #Yakovlevka - #Razdolovka line.

    ▪ In addition, Russian units are storming Ukrainian strongholds in #Kleshchiyevka, #Dyleyevka and #Druzhba, where the AFU's 28th Mechanized Brigade is holding positions.

    ▪ In order to slow down the offensive, the assault troops of the 3rd Battalion of the 28th Mechanised Brigade counterattacked the Russian positions near #Dyleyevka.

The advancing troops were supported by army aviation helicopters and artillery crews of the 28th, 53rd and 105th Battalions of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade which fired indiscriminately at #Bakhmut, #Yakovlevka, #Ozaryanovka, #Kurdyumovka and #Mayorsk.

The attack was repulsed. Some AFU units were withdrawn to reserve positions to restore combat readiness.

    ▪ In #Bakhmut, forces of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade established 28 firing positions on the southeastern outskirts of the city, with three pairs of snipers operating in residential areas. Ukrainian formations are equipped with ammunition, radios and thermal imaging devices.

My bet would be that there are small nozzles for high-pressure water or other cleaning fluid embedded in the frame. That solution has been used elsewhere, together with mechanical wipers.

I remember in the early 1990s tanks were being driven through areas with civilian protestors who got bits of cloth and paper and tried to block off the vision ports... I seem to remember high pressure air blasting them off/out and water spray too.

Also keep in mind that without crew in the turret the Armata had to do something about battlefield visibility because even the best optics mounted on the hull don't get the best view of the battlefield.

The optical sensors giving all round coverage around the tank in the form of cameras will generate a complete 360 degree unhindered view around the tank... the real time video images are stitched together by software and video processing hardware so the commander and crew can probably get a virtual real time view around the tank in visible and IR wavelengths most likely.

They have a similar system for the Hind for looking for incoming ground fire, with the external sensors located around the aircraft it means the crew can get a virtual view and see the battlefield around them with their controls and cockpits or cabins invisible.

Would be interesting to be watching that view and see a hand grenade land on the ground a few metres away from the tank... you would crap yourself but the armour would protect you completely... being able to see a hand grenade explode from up close while being perfectly safe would be a very odd feeling.

So NATO has activated its arsonist sleeper cells inside Russia to spread mayhem and chaos. Such a cowardly act needs a swift and crushing response. I call on Russia to start conducting arsonist strikes on all NATO countries, especially the US and UK who are the top masterminds of the Pukrainian conflict.  attack

Instead of hitting back at US-UK civilians, Russia needs to stop playing footsie with these clown states. For example, there are
still sales of oil and LNG. Just stop them already.

The number of trade center fires is totally anomalous in Russia. It is not random and seasonal. Why wouldn't the Kiev regime and
its NATzO patrons engage in arson? It serves their objective to destabilize the Russian government. Creating agitation in the
prole masses is a central feature of agit-prop. They need people to be irrational through fear in order to manipulate them.
Do not assume that NATzO is not doing this. Regime change is its only real option to defeat Russia.
