The question is why 10 Storm Shadow and Adm 160 MALD managed to break through the very strong anti-aircraft defense of Sevastopol and the surrounding area Rolling Eyes . This is dangerous because it turns out that NATO is able to hit important infrastructure with a small number of cruise missiles. And they have thousands of cruise missiles.

It is quite funny how Nafo trolls get excited, when advanced Nato weaponry can penetrate the Russian air defence once in a while with limited success, but nobody of them talks about how ineffective the Patriot air defence was when intercepting cheap weapons launched from Yemen towards Saudi Arabia.
I would not want to imagine how many Russian missiles could get through, if Putin decided a full-blown attack on EU and US soil.

The even bigger question is how come flying balloons and kamikaze jetliners can just penetrate the skies protected by the mighty NATO airforces? Rolling Eyes

This is insanely dangerous because these are WW2 Imperial Japanese weapons technologies that any monkey can replicate now. Razz

They've tried dozens upon dozens of times and finally after 18 months of attempts the Ukraine manage to hit something in Sevastopol with missiles

It's not representative because in a NATO-Russia war there will be no opportunity to probe Russian defenses endlessly and at their leisure.

It is quite funny how Shoigu tries to present that attacks on Crimea were not done with Storm Shadow, as that is an official red line per MOD.  And it is not the first time, either.

Bold and somewhat impressive attack. Nato gets lots of data and very good experience on using cruise missiles and decoys to penetrate hardened Russian air defense systems on Russian soil. They'll wait for the response now, but for the past 9 months it has been a series of gradual escalations, so one can expect if it's just another volley of drones and cruise missiles there will be something even more substantial in the future. This occurring so quickly after Pskov, however, suggests the pace may be increasing.

The last time this guy was talking about crossing the red line, it ended up with medevac planes running like headless chickens all over Poland, from 404 to Rzeszow, Gdansk, and Goleniow.
Repacked, and followed by the others heading Rammstein.
Landstuhl actually, but it can be covered up Laughing
Wonder who will end up first, NATO high profiles ready to take a trip to a hive in Kiev, or Russkie missiles.

Proclaiming a no fly zone east of Snake Island followed by shooting down few US and NATO drones, to show that you mean business, should do the trick. It's not like they'll go to war over few drones.

Why hit ship in dry dock , and why now ? Dry dock means ship completely static and weapon very reliant on GPS . That is why Ship at Port not hit , because deliberately or accidentally is continuously  moved . So terminal active homing Radar , not effective or used . Also means GPS jamming , either not enough or not effective against weapon . Military GPS ? Mix and number of weapons means that aim was to overwhelm the computer , and / or the number of SAM fired , and this worked . Why now , is important ! Because they did not suddenly acquire eight to ten missiles , to celebrate Jellinsky birthday . But it was used , just after Ukrainian " civilian " ship was heading to port , and was hit , and during Putin visit with Kim . My solution in dry dock repair area , is to be surrounded by Balloons on steel wire . Between the wires , are held strong nylon nets . The height of net means that cruise missiles can not dive steeply enough to hit ship . Ballistic missiles can be taken care of by SAM . Alternatively use ports in far East( Iran )  to repair and return to home port . Or exchange / acquire ships from  Iran .

Edit : Horizontal Nets can stop ballistic missiles in the air or on the ground or below ground level . The interlinked elements of net are made of explosives that upon detachment , destroy the incoming !

The way the Russian do PR really is questionable. The time for talk is over, just rain 25 cruise missile on decision making centers already. Why they even are allowed to exist puzzles me. Also lofting 10 storm shadows requires at least planes. hmmm

The stark reality is that every AD system can be defeated by saturation, the only question is, what is the saturation level. And this can be achieved by EW, decoys, and lots of missiles.

Newest stories about Elon Muskovych secret agent of NKVD.

    https://www.rt.com/news/582910-musk-starlink-crimea-ukraine-us-sanctions/

Elon Musk said his company was not allowed to provide coverage in the area due to US sanctions against Russia.

“Now, the reason it was turned off was actually because… the United States has sanctions against Russia… and that includes Crimea,” he continued.

According to the billionaire, “we are not actually allowed to turn on connectivity to… the country without explicit [US] government approval.”

The entrepreneur claimed that the planned Ukrainian attack on the Russian fleet in Sevastopol would have been similar in impact to the Japanese attack on the US fleet at Pearl Harbor during World War Two, potentially leading to a major escalation.

“So, [the Ukrainians] really asked us to really proactively take part in a major act of war,” Musk concluded.

That's a bummer. Probably will be refitted for pride purposes more than its use but not anytime soon.

Expect similar attack over Berdyansk air base anytime soon.

The best counter-escalation is inflicting defeat on the ground by opening several fronts at once as well as killing the HIMARS threat reducing it to an obsolete weapon.

But don't expect something quick and poorly planned, this is what NATO expects from these provocations. Way better is that the Russian forces keep adding forces, polish their knives and boots till the opportunity shows by itself. Most likely around early 2024.
