Yeah, they do that a lot... I remember when they were getting ready to invade Iraq they were desperately trying to provide evidence that Saddam was working with Al Quada and I seem to remember a pro American person presenting information he claimed proved the link, but when you actually read the evidence that was presented at the time it showed that Saddam was actually fighting Al Quada and that Al Quada was actually fighting on the side of the Kurds in Iraq whom the pro Americans had been building up as victims and potential allies in the fight against Saddam.

The reaction to having that pointed out was very amusing and now links to Al Quada were no longer bad if the fight was right... ie Al Quada bad except when fighting Saddam... or Assad.

The Israelis attacked Syrian airports. Wasn't it under Russian protection with its anti-missile system? I mean, does that crap work?

Russian protection for Syria is against ISIS and Kurds and not the US or Israel... except when it comes to protecting Russian forces... perhaps they might decide to change that moving forward...

This is what I think also. They already got Syria involved in this, Iran will slowly be pulled into this. In the next 2-3 weeks, they will hit Iran, one way or another.

The irony is that they thought they got what they wanted in Ukraine as well, but it didn't turn out the way they expected and now I suspect they want a way out.

Hitting Iran is not the end but the start of their problems...

Russia and China at best , call for a two state solution , without offering any practical help to achieve this . Have you not been paying attention to Ukraine... Iran probably has it own naval drones and of course large numbers of ballistic rockets that might have trouble hitting a specific house but an aircraft carrier is a huge and distinctive target in the middle of the ocean.

Iranian air defences seem to be pretty good too in terms of SAMs... actually probably better than HATOs airdefence, and there are US bases throughout the region that Russia could hammer with ballistic weapons if they wanted to.

Russia could supply anti ship missiles in fairly significant numbers... how many US carriers do you think the US would accept losing?

Drones are a challenge for a country like Russia that has very very good air defence... do you think they wont be any problem for the US Navy, or UK ships in the area?

Already US is trying to pin Russia down by getting Israel to bomb Syria.

More likely to piss Russia off and make them defend Syria territory from outside uninvited guests...

China, I've always maintained is a US ally, they won't help Iran either.

The Chinese are under US sanctions regarding a lot of strategically important technologies... they really are not friends.

I wouldn't underestimate the power of Israel's poodles in the west. It seems no matter what Israel does, there's no shortage of people willing to exculpate it. They dominate government, media...
