According to Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region, on his Telegram channel, the landing ship Saratov was raised from the bottom of the Sea of Azov yesterday.
The operation to lift the landing ship was carried out in the port of the city of Berdyansk, which is located in the south of the Zaporozhye region near the coast of the Sea of Azov.
"Saratov" was heavily damaged on March 24 during the shelling of the Berdyansk port by the Ukrainian military. The blow was delivered by missiles of the Tochka-U complex.
As Rogov explains, the crew decided to flood the ship after a fire started on it. Otherwise, this could lead to the detonation of the ammunition on board.
Recall that Berdyansk and other settlements of the Zaporozhye region, located along the Sea of Azov, were liberated by Russian troops in March this year.
"Saratov" was the first landing ship of its series, built back in 1964 in Kaliningrad. During its long history , the ship had to visit many parts of the world. Saratov took part in the events in Georgia in 2008, and during the reunification of Crimea in 2014. With the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the ship was also involved in it.

3rd Gazprom convoy
.
Between the end of January and the end of April. The Russian Navy conducted a special operation on an ocean scale, which, unfortunately, went unnoticed, since the attention of the domestic and world community since February 24 has been riveted to the NWO in Ukraine. At the same time, the operation carried out by the fleet - the third in a row of its kind (about the first two - by the mark ) - is very important for reconfiguring the country's economy to new geopolitical realities, as it is associated with the transition to the Far East of three Gazprom ships, which are urgently needed for development of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field on the Sakhalin shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk - the most likely resource base for increasing gas supplies to China in accordance with the agreement dated 04.02.2022. Information concerning the participation in the passage of warships is negligible. Only one of its final episodes is known for certain, everything else is based on the assumptions of the blog author.
3rd Gazprom convoy (1).jpg
"Admiral Panteleev" and "Akademik Chersky" near Tsushima, 04/19/2022 (Japanese Ministry of Defense)
Around 9 a.m. on April 19, about 80 km west of the Danjo Islands (on the approach to the Tsushima Strait from the southwest), the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Forces observed a detachment of Russian ships and vessels as part of the Admiral Panteleev Pacific Fleet BOD (number 548) , a medium sea tanker "Izhora", a rescue sea tug SB-408 and three purely civilian vessels - a crane-mounting pipelayer (KMTUS) "Akademik Chersky" and supply vessels for drilling rigs "Ivan Sidorenko" and "Ostap Sheremeta". Later, the detachment passed through the Tsushima Strait towards the Sea of Japan ( reference 1 )*. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the BOD and SMT arrived in Vladivostok on April 23 ( link 2 - there is not a word about the escort of Gazprom ships in the message),T raffic and V essel Finder - about the arrival there the same day earlier of both SSBU , and KMTUS - to Nakhodka. Thus, the last (third) stage of the transition was completed, which began, apparently, somewhere near Sri Lanka. The fact that the Panteleev campaign began on March 23 ( link 3 ) and lasted 31 days allows us to think so, and from Vladivostok to Colombo and back 2 x 4600 = 9200 miles, which can be overcome within the specified period at a speed of 12.4 knots, which is quite within the power of all ships and vessels of the detachment ("Chersky" - at the limit of its capabilities, which could be compensated by shifting the rendezvous point to the east or some acceleration of the BOD on the way there).
* Note. Unfortunately, from 08/01/2022, the Japanese Ministry of Defense stopped publishing its press releases, which, in particular, reflected the passage of Russian ships near the Japanese Islands, and limited access to previously published ones ( link 4 ). On the one hand, there is a rule of intelligence that the enemy should not know what she knows, on the other hand, this reflects the level of anti-Russian psychosis that has gripped the countries of the West.
The first stage of the transition started in three steps. According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense, on January 24, the corvettes of the Baltic Fleet "Savvy" and "Stoikiy" left Baltiysk to carry out long-range missions ( reference 5 ), according to M arine Traffic, January 26 from St. Petersburg - "Ivan Sidorenko" and "Ostap Sheremeta", January 28 from Rotterdam - "Akademik Chersky". Taking into account the fact that from Baltiysk to Rotterdam there are 4 days of travel at 12 knots, the main purpose of the campaign (combat service) of the BF detachment was to escort the Chersky and the later approached Sidorenko and Sheremeta, combined with exercises led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. Around January 1, the British observed corvettes in the English Channel - 4 days from the Strait of Gibraltar, to which, apparently, "Savvy" with "Resistant" and brought the 3rd Gazprom convoy (later it became known that the detachment passed 4700 miles ( link 6 , p. , i.e. almost like to Gibraltar and back - 2 x 2250).
The most mysterious and difficult to explain was the second, the longest, stage of the transition - from Gibraltar to Sri Lanka (9450 miles or 33 days at 12 knots). We will proceed from the fact that the Navy, which escorted Gazprom's vessels in the first and third stages (which is beyond doubt), simply could not leave them to their fate on the most dangerous segment of the route (the pirate Gulf of Guinea, the Horn of Africa and the 5- th fleet of the United States, prone to state piracy**). However, with all diligence, the author could not find surface ships capable of such escort at that time. As far as is known, "Chersky" approached Gibraltar (it was in the Atlantic northwest of it) on February 4 ( link 7). The most logical thing would be to entrust the protection of the convoy to one of the ships of the OBK SF ("Kulakov" or "Kasatonov" ), which in those days was just approaching the Strait of Gibraltar (passed it on 07.02 - link 8 ). In this case, the assigned escort ship would have brought the Gazprom ships to Sri Lanka and arrived in Tartus, passing through the Suez Canal, after 46 days (03/25), but, according to the Ministry of Defense, on 15/21/02, all three ships of the Northern Fleet participated in exercises in the eastern part of the NPM ( reference 9 , reference 11 ).
** Note. On the reason for the non-alternative choice of a long route around Africa, which consists in the impossibility of passing the "Chersky" under the bridge over the Suezchannel without dismantling the upper part of the crane tower, already mentioned in the blog - link 12 .
Another option for escorting the convoy at the second stage could be the appointment of one of the warships of the permanent task force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea, which have sufficient seaworthiness, as an escort. The only suitable candidate was the Admiral Grigorovich frigate, since there was no PK pr. 22160 in the formation at that time, and the RTO pr. 21631 Orekhovo-Zuevo of the river-sea class was not suitable for ocean navigation. "Grigorovich" could reach Gibraltar a week before February 4 and return to Tartus approximately 53 days later (03.22), but he, according to irrefutable *** data from the military department, 15/21.in large-scale maneuvers in the eastern part of the NPM.
*** Note. In addition to text messages from the press service of the Ministry of Defense, there is a gorgeous video published on March 8 by the film company "Officers of the Russian Air Force and Navy", which shows all the ships of the OpS in the SPM, marching in full formation ( link 13 ).
As you can see, in the end, on the eve of the NMD, it was decided not to weaken the surface grouping of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea by a single pennant, in order, if necessary, to prevent those who should not be there from entering the Black Sea. At the same time, in order to somehow indicate the participation of the Navy in the 2nd stage of the 3rd Gazprom convoy, you will have to choose one of two options:
1) Gazprom ships were escorted by a nuclear submarine (submarine cruiser) of the Northern Fleet for general purposes (fortunately, the number of running ACR / PLA ranges from six to eight) in order to emerge and show their teeth as a last resort;
2) the ships sailed without escort from the NK or submarines at all, but with a reinforced naval infantry anti-terror group of the naval infantry on each (reinforcement here means not so much the number of personnel as the composition of weapons, including anti-tank systems and MANPADS). The main conclusion that follows from the history of the 3rd Gazprom convoy is not original - it runs like a red thread through many entries published on the blog: in order to avoid difficulties of one kind or another associated with the use of the Navy in remote areas of the oceans (the presence, displaying the flag and
military force, protection of maritime economic activity, etc.), it is necessary to build more vigorously ships of the far sea and ocean zone. Let's start with frigates pr. 22350, the serial number of which will be doubled due to the involvement of NEA - the issue, in fact, has already been resolved ( link 14 ). ■

To be fair it would have been more usefull for airdefence in the Black sea the last 6 months.

the udaloys have no long range SAMs. The grigoroviches do with the shtil, but theres only 2 in the black sea. Wouldn't matter if the russian navy would take its head out of its behind and use AWACS(already only 1 A-50U patrol) and use its Su-30M2 and Su-24 radars and jammers. The black sea is a pond. Aviation(if used competently, or even used at all) and OTH radars should cover it.
